Why are people complaining they didn't get what they wanted from GAMBLING and instead didn't support threads asking for everything to be marketable?

Posted: 15 Jul 2017 08:05 AM PDT

'Best monetization model'.

'Gives value and exclusivity to rewards.' (That will sell for 50c ANYWAY next year).

'Not overpriced, comes with all of these bonuses'. (But if you only want one thing, you gotta pay for the whole lot).

'If you don't like it go play LoL'.

'Gambling is a big thing among micro-transactions.' (and yet you're crying now because of it). \

'Something can be better than other options but still not perfect.'

'Valve is not forcing you to buy anything'.

Yeah now stfu about not getting what you wanted.

2-3 years ago people really did complain about these things, but for the most part, the more recent trend has been to white knight Valve whenever things like this are brought up, and I sure am certain Valve are loving further support instead of expected backlash, which is further enabling them to take from the player-base for their own monetary gain.

Not making immortals marketable helps Valve into baiting people to pay for overpriced levels. You cannot pay for what you want, you have to pay for everything else too, and there is no guarantee of getting the item/s you want. If there was enough backlash from the community, they wouldn't have gotten away with it, but of course, they did because people are still paying for over priced levels under the bait of exclusivity while ironically praising Valve over and over whenever the slightest of criticism appears.

You reap what you sow; if you supported more of this instead of this you'd maybe be sitting here with a much better Dota 2 than you have now, but you're instead sucking Valve's dick whenever anyone tries to do the former.

This is also relevant to other parts of the game. That includes cutting support for workshop artists, dropping features like mods, less response to suggetions and bug reports, and more. In fact, you can sense that the quality of the game and Valve's effort has decreased. Of course that's going to happen if you try to repress backlash. Of course that's going to happen if you praise Valve whenever they are criticized. The more you praise and white knight Valve when they're criticized for a certain action, the worse the game gets. Pretty simple. Now stop crying now, you should have helped us when we tried to prevent the game from getting worse.

Edit: I'm out, replying to more people in 7hrs.

PSA about max fps and input lag

Posted: 15 Jul 2017 09:18 AM PDT

With TI coming up, maybe a pro or two will appreciate this:

For max fps use DirectX11, gives significantly more fps at same settings.

Simply add "-dx11" to your launch options.

For less input lag, use fullscreen. This gets rid of 2 frames of input lag which is ~15ms on a 144hz monitor compared to borderless windowed.

Simply add "-fullscreen -width 1920 -height 1080" (or whatever res you use) to your launch options (or use ingame options).

Lastly, if you really want most FPS, look into disabling HQ water and going down to medium shadows. Also, don't use Immortal Gardens terrain.

All of this holds true for streaming as well, if you're curious about Dota + Streaming read my article here.

Good luck in Seattle!

Edit: If something breaks, delete the video.txt in /cfg and remove the launch commands.

I just played a game as meepo and creeps killed by my second meepo did not give me gold or even count as a CS by the game. Heroes killed had the same effect.

YSK: If you're a new player getting started make sure you've ticked the 'Expose Public Match Data' box. If you keep up playing you'll likely have a good laugh at your early games and crazy item strats.

Dota is a game of making progress, there's a million and one ways to improve. Looking back at where you've come from is pretty satisfying!

To find the option go to menu, 'Options' and then click on 'To Advanced Options'. In the middle of the screen you'll see the tick box. Remember you can always make your profile private, it just collects the data so you can check it out on free sites like Dotabuff and Opendota (my preferred one now).

Make all immortals marketable after TI not in 2018.

Posted: 15 Jul 2017 09:02 AM PDT

I'm level 900 on the BP, didn't get weaver or sven on treasure 3, also missing the Lina gold immortal. I can't even buy the weaver or lina immortal because of the lock until late 2018, I can't even sell my 30+ duplicates that I don't need to offset the purchase of the sven immortal on the market.

All previous TI's didn't have this rule, it's frustrating and not rewarding at all. I didn't know about 2018 rule until late in my levels but if this rule persists in the next events, I do not see a reason to purchase a battle pass and be pushed to play this gambling game of chest opening, when I only want certain items that I would rather buy directly off the steam store or marketplace.

I think we need clear communication from Valve devs about the Escalating odds working/not working properly for immortal treasure 3.

You know, just to make it look like they care about community......

EDIT #1: Some people (NOT ME) are getting their deserved drops rolled out to their accounts. Thanks for the effort valve!

EDIT #2: Can anyone confirm they got the retroactive drops rolled out even if they recycled every common drop?

EDIT #3: Still nothing from the first retroactive wave for me and many other high level people, let's hope in more waves today.
