I pre-ordered Destiny 2 on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store or Blizzard Shop. How do I receive Beta access?

If you pre-ordered directly on your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One you are already automatically enrolled in the Beta.

Is a Playstation Plus or Xbox Live subscription needed for the Beta?

NO! Players are not required to have an active PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Subscription to engage with the Destiny 2 Beta. It will however be needed for the actual game release for most activities.

Beta Known Issues:

As this is a Beta build, some issues will be present and may impact gameplay. Please note the following:

Networking

  • Players may experience a variety of networking error codes when attempting to play the Beta
  • Bungie will be testing server stability throughout the Beta, which may cause error codes to appear periodically

Crucible

  • Location names sometimes do not appear during Crucible gameplay
  • Players sometimes are Kicked to Orbit after witnessing a black screen when entering a Countdown match

Strike

  • Players may sometimes be placed at the beginning of the Inverted Spire Strike Activity when joining in progress

General

  • Sandbox balancing is still taking place: Some weapons or abilities may have higher or lower damage than intended
  • Not all content has been localized in all languages

If you encounter any network related issues during the Destiny 2 Beta, please follow Bungie's Network Troubleshooting Guide to ensure proper network settings for Destiny gameplay.

Reporting an Issue

When encountering an issue, players are advised to post a report to the #Help forum with the following information:

  • PlayStation Network ID or Xbox Live Gamertag
  • Time in which issue occurred
  • Activity in which issue occurred
  • Description of what happened

While players may not receive a response, issues will be forwarded to the appropriate teams for investigation.

Lost out on D2 Collectors Edition through retailer error, got offered a £5 "gesture of good will" instead

So some of you may remember my post about a month ago, where I warned others not to amend their pre-orders after my UK Collectors Edition was cancelled by Game for no other reason than I changed the delivery address on the pre-order. I was told at the time that Game knew there was an issue, and reassured me that I'd be contacted when they had looked into it, and not to be concerned.

Well, fast forward a month, surprise surprise I'd heard nothing. I called again this week, and the retailer confirmed that it was cancelled for no other reason than the change of address, that this was a known issue with Game pre-orders/their auto-check systems in general, but that there was nothing that could be done about it. It was sold out, sorry about that, you'll have to pre-order the standard edition.

Cue a typically British response to bad news: a polite but firm written response!

(Wall of text warning)
 

The above pre-order for Destiny 2 Collectors Edition was placed on 30th March, shortly after pre-orders for this game were made available. At this time, the release date was 9th September.

At E3 2017, Bungie announced that the release date was to be brought forward to 6th September. On that date there would be nobody available at my home address to accept delivery. As such, I amended the delivery address on my pre-order to my work address. At no point in this process did I receive any indication that this could present any problem.

The following day, 14th June, I received an email to notify me that my order had been automatically cancelled through "risk and security processes", and to contact customer services to have the order re-placed. Needless to say I was not impressed, and made the call.

I was told over the phone that day that there was a "known issue" with cancellations on Destiny 2 pre-orders, that on referring to his supervisor this was already being looked into, and that I would receive a response by email within a couple of weeks.

It is now a month later, I have made a follow-up call and have now been told that there is nothing that can be done, the item is out of stock and cannot be ordered, and that this was in fact the case when I had made the original call a month ago.

Frankly I am appalled. Not only that the order was cancelled in such a ludicrous chain of events, but that I have been deliberately misled into believing that Game were attempting to rectify the problem.

Firstly, if changing delivery address on a pre-order is to trigger a risk/security issue, why allow customers to sign into their Game accounts and amend delivery details on a previously approved order in the first place? Surely the act of securely signing into my account is enough to verify that the change of delivery details are valid, and if that wasn't sufficient, the confirmation email to my registered email account would alert any customer to a potentially fraudulent amendment. I simply cannot wrap my head around why this cancellation ever happened in the first place.

It is the complete failure of your service subsequent to that cancellation which has annoyed me the most. If this is how your system operates, there is absolutely no way that I am the first customer to have had a pre-order cancelled because of a change in delivery address. I have already had contact with another Game customer who has lost out on this particular pre-order for exactly the same reason, and given the change of release date I am sure there are a decent number of others out there who quite reasonably have felt the need to change delivery details for this purpose. So why have I been told that this situation was to be resolved and that I would indeed receive the item I had pre-ordered? I have either been grossly misled or blatantly lied to, neither of which is at all acceptable.

I await a response to the above, and what resolution you propose to rectify this situation.

 

A couple of days later, this gem of a response drops into my spam-infested inbox:

I'm sorry about the experience you have had with changing your address.

I have had a look at this for you but unfortunately as mentioned on the phone we would not be able to recreate the order.

When changing address their is always a chance it may flag up on our fraud prevention system for multiple reasons however doesn't always happen.

I have followed up the information you were given regarding a known issue with changing addresses on pre-orders and this is currently ongoing.

For this I can only apologise and offer £5 in Rewards points as a sort of good will gesture.

If you would accept this please get back in touch with your Rewards card number and we can add this on for you.

If you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

 

So through no fault of my own, I'm screwed out of the Collectors Edition I ordered the same day the reveal trailer dropped, and their idea of a solution is "here's a fiver off a future order."

Gee, thanks for that!

tl;dr Retailer has dumb systems, auto-cancels Collectors Edition pre-order, gives bullshit excuse/flat out lie, offers £5 credit. Loses all future custom.

If you made it all the way through, thanks for reading and sharing my pain. I am not a happy guardian right now.

The Best Gift a Future Guardian could ever Receive

pre-apologize for long wall of text, shitty formatting and whatever else is wrong with this (I don't really care)

(backstory) I found my Destiny Clan on The100.io well over 2 years ago when a RL friend told me to join because the people in it were very active and cool dudes. Soon after I joined in the created groupme Chat that they had created to better communicate with each other about playing the game, which then turned into chat about life/beer(lots of beer), other games, shitposts etc...

Even though these guys are from all over the country, We have even done a few meetups with a few of us that live relatively local to each other (NYC). http://imgur.com/R9ifR1U (conveniently cant see me in this picture, but you can see my tattoo in the bottom right lol).

So these guys have become some of my best friends over the last 2 years even though I have never formally met most of them (there's between 25-32ish active guys in the chat).

So my wife is pregnant and expecting literally any day now with my future guardian!

One of our clanmates made the trip from Austin TX to come visit us in NY to go to a concert (IRON MAIDEN) and to have a blast weekend drinking many beers and having having a kick ass time.

This is when the long con started. Little did I know that these guys started a private groupme chat a few months before and planned on getting me a whole lot of stuff off my baby registry, and gifted me all of this stuff during our weekend meetup! http://imgur.com/lsjLUKa

You guys I tell you, they made me fucking cry I have never been so happy to call these guys my friends...no fuck that...my family! These guys have been the best people to me and most of them ive never met before...so none the less I was super surprised when I walk into my friends apartment to find tons of boxes and a few destiny related items as well (ghost plushie, D is For Destiny Book). These guys literally got me well over 1,000 dollars worth of baby stuff I have never been so grateful for anything in my life!

D2: I Hope to See More Variety to Ships and Sparrows

In D1, it feels like there were some basic archetypes to ships and sparrows and aside from a few very unique ones limited to certain activities, most ships and sparrows were the same with just different colors.

In D2, while they remain the same as D1 functionally, I'm hoping for greater variety to make the collection aspect more interesting.

During the Summer downtime I took upon myself to finally buy al of those special drives from Xur each weekend and upgrade the 6 sparrows into legendaries (3 rare vanguard, 3 rare crucible). All 6 are exactly the same, and when you upgrade, they essentially remain exactly the same only they go a tiny bit faster and boost. In the end, the function is the same, but it would be great to just see some variation to the general look.

Otherwise, like in D1, it's buy and immediately dismantle.

*Save the gif from that page by pressing and holding on the gif while its playing if you want it on your phone. This step is not necessary.

*Download "Gify", the free app, and log in with Facebook or make an account (this is important).

*Go to Gify's website, log in, and add this to your favorites.

*Go back to the app, click your favorites in the top right. Once you are on the page with the gif scroll down to the bottom and click the ellipsis. Now click the circle live icon. Save as live wallpaper.

*Open settings, go to wallpapers in your camera roll. Select the new live wallpaper you just saved.

Boom. Live wallpaper. I can't find a way to make it work all the time so you have to press and hold on the image to make it work. Enjoy and thanks to /u/Drury13

Wiping After Atheon Kill = Restart Entire Raid?

So I am prone to breaking this game in every way I can find. This was not my expected result today.

Basically, we reset our own raid without going to orbit.

We ran through the raid like normal, but goofing off a bit(I was using Dreg's Promise) so it took a little longer than usual.

At about 50 minutes into the run, we killed Atheon finally. However, when it happened, a few of us were still in Past side, and some Oracles were still up. The newer Oracles will wipe you no matter what if left alive. So I told the guys not to kill them, to see what happens. Surely enough, the Oracles wiped us.

That's when shit got weird. We sat on a load screen for a long time, then suddenly, we were back at the beginning of the raid, staring at the closed door to the Vault.

We thought this was hilarious and decided to run with it. At the end of the raid, some weird stuff started to happen. Like the Glass Throne not loading properly at Gatekeeper checkpoint. Our final time clocked at 1:28:20, even though the second run only took about a half hour in real time.

And if you look at Raid Report, it shows our last VoG completion time at 53 minutes.

TL;DR: Don't wipe after killing the final boss in a raid, because then the game gets confused and thinks the beginning of the raid is the last checkpoint you were at. In short, we were in the lead in Mario Kart and tried throwing a Blue Shell.

Who would like to see number values on the bar graph stats for weapons in Destiny 2?

One thing that puzzled me in Destiny was just seeing a bar graph for weapons and having to go to an outside source to see the actual values of the Impact/Range/Stability etc. especially the aim assist on weapons. I know it's not hard to just compare with another gun but why hasn't Bungie actually put numerical values within the bars themselves? They could easily add a number in the bottom right at the end of the bar or have it only show when you push R2 when in the character menu when sorting guns by archetype.

It's just a small quality of life improvement I would like to see, anyone else have thoughts on this?

Destiny 2 starter ship?

Saw this when rewatching the "worlds" trailer, note the battle damage/wear and tear which suggests it has been salvaged. Also the central engine and struts look like they have been pulled from the Arcadia class starter ship, and the outer engines/wings partially constructed from a phaeton. Which makes sense if it was cobbled together from scrap after the city was attacked.

Seems like a likely first ship.

Free Beta Codes

Hello fellow guardians! Today is a glorious day, because today is my birthday! Yay me! But, also, yay for you. How you may ask? Well, seeing as how I'm feeling so good today, I have some beta codes that I am willing to give away!

Let me explain: I had pre-ordered Destiny 2 on my PlayStation through the PSN store. Awesome. Totally stoked. Then, this last Monday, I come to find out there is the PS4 Pro White/Destiny 2 bundle being released. I had been on the fence about getting a pro, and this bundle pushed me over the edge. I had previously bought the original PS4 White/Destiny bundle, so this seemed like the natural progression. So, I contacted PSN Support and cancelled my digital preorder so I could preorder the bundle. But, I guess if you preorder and cancel, they don't take away your opportunity to download the beta, because I already have it. No codes needed for me. BUT, since I preordered the bundle, I have received not only one, but TWO promotional codes from Amazon. One of the codes I have already entered into Bungie.net and redeemed it for the PlayStation in the Americas, the other I haven't used.

So, how does one get these codes? Simple: entertain me. I need no form of money or anything like that. I just want to laugh. Laughter is one of the most important aspects in life, and a good laugh everyday will make you feel better all the time. If you can make me laugh the hardest today, you will win one of the codes. One code, obviously the one that's been redeemed already, will go to someone in America with a PS4. The other could go to anyone in the world, with any console, if I am understanding the way the redemption site works. So, entertain away, folks! Let's see what you got! You have until 12:00 AM MST.

Hey fellow Guardians,

I write this with a heavy heart, as we all do when something like this happens. Its actually been about 6 weeks now since one of my best friends and a tremendous Guardian, GT: chronicburner31, has passed on. He was only 32, and to say it shocked all of us around him is an understatement. The world lost a big man with an even bigger heart, who spent his days working at the SF Zoo caring every living creature he could get his hands on.

It has taken me this long to post anything because I actually haven't been able to bring myself to sign back in until right now.

Our friendship began long before Destiny, but always had some game to connect us. In the beginning it was Downhill Domination on PS2 and Mario Kart on N64, and we began our journey into the depths of the universe together as Day 1 Guardians. We downed Randal the Vandal, sacked the loot cave over and over and over again, finally shoved Atheon off the cliff, made Crota kneel before our Gjallarhorns, and so many other adventures that kept us close as friends when I was moving around over the last couple years.

The day before he passed he sent me the same text that we'd exchanged hundreds of times before: "Destiny?"... I was at work until late and not sure if I was going to sign on until the next day so I told him if not that night then for sure the next. Since I missed that last opportunity to down a few dregs with my buddy, it has been just too hard to even fly into orbit. We spent countless hours online with another friend from across the country, that we found through this sub, and I haven't even been able to bring myself to join him for patrols. If you're reading this, KEYWESTTIMMY, I'll be texting you soon buddy. Another friend we made through this sub that we haven't seen online in a long time, StankBird, if you're out there I just wanted to let you know what's happened.

Since Day 1 this game has been something different than anything else I've played, and its connected me with old and new friends in ways that I wouldn't have though possible from just shooting up some aliens. For that I want to thank everyone here for being part of such a wonderful community--I think the people are part of what has made Destiny such a great thing for so many of us.

I will always miss having my friend run around throwing knives like it was going out of style, and always rocking some fly ass cape, but I know his ghost is out there somewhere looking out for all of us as we take on our next journey. Thanks for reading and thanks for sharing this great game with us.
