Season 11 will begin on Thursday, July 20th to ensure there is adequate time to respond to potential issues with Seasons before the weekend begins. Below are the following start times in their respective regions:

Patch 2.6 - Patch Notes

  • New class - Necromancer with 30+ new legendaries including 4 sets
  • Challenge Rifts - Complete static rifts with fixed class/gear within given time to see how fast you can clear. Rifts rotate weekly with new builds and layouts.
  • Two new zones - The Moors & The Temple of the Firstborn
  • Greater Rifts - Players who die in solo Greater Rifts can now choose to immediately resurrect but remove the death timer from the overall remaining time.
  • Set Dungeons - Have been made easier. New UI. Increased time limit (5 minutes). Monsters are now tracked in mini-map. Monster kill requirements are lowered.

How the exploit affected those who didn't use it

In this light of Blizzard's non-action against those who used the exploit I thought I would summarise how I have been affected, and why I have lost interest in playing the game I love (hopefully only a temporary interest loss).

  • For one week I had very few people to play with, as most people were focused on the exploit;
  • I achieved my highest 2 and 3 player records in this time (legit), they are now both wiped and I'm not sure if I'll ever see them again;
  • I was looking forwards to pushing 4 player leader-boards with friends, but there was no point trying to compete with exploiters (and it was hard to find a full team to attempt high level content);
  • Instead of having fun pushing I got to watch friend after friend use the exploit to successfully push 15 GRs higher than they had ever been before, while I ran 15 GR levels below my highest;
  • My gems that were once high rank, that I spent hours on 1% runs to get are now lower than most of the leader-board clears, let alone their gems;
  • It caused numerous arguments, and noticeable tension between those staying legit, and those mocking people not using the exploit;
  • It caused a lot of stress and tension in my friends who are officers who were trying to keep people playing legit, officers who faced a huge backlash for trying to keep people legit (then were left in the cold by bliz);
  • I missed out on the fun of trying a cool interaction- I would have loved to have experienced the massive pop when Grim Reaper proc'd, but as soon as I found out it was an exploit I steered clear of it;
  • I will now have to compete on leader-boards against people who gained an unfair advantage;

Next time there is an exploit:

  1. Most people will use it;
  2. I will have even fewer people to play with if I want to stay legit;
  3. There will be no point to pushing (which is the only thing I want to do non-season) as the boards will be reset and my accomplishments lost;
  4. If it happens during a season...

A lot of people have made comments along the lines of "it doesn't affect you, so why bother about it", but that is wrong. I loving playing D3 because of the competition it brings, of pitting myself against the achievements of others. I don't compete for rank one, but I love the thrill of climbing the leader-boards and seeing what I and my mates are capable of. Seeing the ranking splash screen shoot up at the end of the rift is hugely satisfying and a big reason I keep playing. The presence of glitches removes a huge part of what makes the game engaging for those who push high and want to stay legit.

For the love of all that is undead, PLEASE, please change the sound effect of "Moribund Gauntlets"

Moribund Gauntlets make your Golem shed a corpse every second.

If you haven't used the item yourself you probably can't relate, but if you HAVE.. SQUELCH...SQUELCH...SQUELCH...SQUELCH...SQUELCH...SQUELCH...

EVERY. DAMN. SECOND. All game long while not in town.

I dearly hope that this will be changed... it's driving me crazy up to the point where I have to mute the game after a while.

For now it looks like that was about it, wondering still if any rollbacks are coming. Also the leaderboards aren't wiped yet at the time of making this post. Edit: Looks like leaderboard got wiped an hour or so later as well.

The new Square pathed zones in GRifts are useless. Some of the new zones like the "church" are infuriating.

The square zones, as soon as you see the path off the square to the next down you immediately take it. You're not going to complete the square path then walk back to the middle section to where the path down is. The "church" area is fucking infuriating, usually it is some version of the "square" only to find out one of the 30 different off shoot paths is the way down.

I find it tough to believe any blizzard employee played these at higher (post 13 t ) g rifts and thought "this is fun and how it should be"

Achievements like 'kill 1000 cursed enemies' is not updating with my kills. Are there any special achievement rules I'm not aware of?

Like, not allowed to have certain gear or whatever. Also, I first started a story line necro and later on stared one strictly for adventure mode. Took my AM necro to story mode to get achievements. Not sure if that's messing it up.

Rise of Necro Lore Connection

TLDR; Demons have been corrupting Nephalem for longer than you might think

Lots of people are picking up on the Nephalem as Villain theme of the necro pack but I think a lot of people dont realize how far back the clues go.

Diablo 3 Vanilla

Back in Act 1 we helped Alaric put some spirits to rest during the Eternal War event. He informs us that after the creation of the worldstone the children of the nephalem were being born weaker and weaker. The Nephalem, being concerned parents, turned to the demon Nereza for assistance. This may seem pretty insane but keep in mind Lillith, the demonic mother of the Nephalem, had just been exiled for going completely mama-bear on the other renegade Angels and Demons who wanted to extirpate the Nephalem. Instead of helping, Nereza performed experiments on the Nephalem children and turned them into an army of monsters with which to wage war against their own parents.

Greyhollow Island

What looks like some throwaway backstory became a smoking gun when Nereza made a reappearance in the Greyhollow Isle zone released in Patch 2.4. Apparently she was defeated by the ancient Nephalem and fled to Greyhollow Isle where she installed herself as a deity lording over the local inhabitants. Eventually one of her priests discovered her ruse and struck her down (or did he?), but her corrupting influence seeped into the island and warped the wildlife into the monstrosities we see now.

Rise of the Necromancer

We see that Nereza's work has been continued by Vidian, the Lord of Envy. With Nephalem being born once again Vidian established a Blood Cult in the Shrouded Moors to harness their power and bend it towards his own goals. Nereza's ability to corrupt both Nephalem and the wild beasts of the land are both seen in the Shrouded Moors.

Possible Expansion Story?

As more bits and pieces of the scrapped expansion are released it becomes more clear that this was planned even before vanilla came out. A lot of people are suspecting that the heroes from Reaper of Souls would go on to become the villains of the scrapped expansion due to Tyrael's ominous voice line, but it seems to me that it would be a monstrous Nephalem corrupted by Vidian/Nereza. Speaking of Nereza, her death in Greyhollow Isle is suspect to say the least, and I would be surprised if she wasn't fated to be a boss.

If the necromancer kills an enemy with an ability that deals frost damage AND has a frost corpse-consuming ability on his/her bars, the resulting corpse appears to be a small pile of bones with a frost spirit

Similarly for poison abilities the resulting corpse appears green and has a small green puddle. Maybe a little bit of vapor as well, if that's not too distracting

Since the corpses are already outlined in red if you have a corpse ability barred, there shouldn't be too much of a recognition problem if the model were different even for players that rely heavily on seeing the corpse on the screen

Edit: I forgot to ask for thoughts. Thoughts?

Why did Inferno in Vanilla D3 fail?

As above. When it came out, Blizzard touted it as the most challenging difficulty level in Diablo ever. It was supposed to be conquered only by the best geared characters.

Didn't Inferno achieve that goal?

I mean, I was frustrated as heck when playing (and I am using DH!), but I acknowledged: Yeah, Blizz said this is gonna be crazy difficult. I didn't complete Inferno before Blizzard nerfed the difficulty.

The "Left D3 for PoE" Player conundrum....

I'd like to first say I have played many, many Blizzard games. From the days when Blizzard was actually a "gamer" focused company all the way up to when they lost a lot of my time in their games due to focusing on the casual $$$ market.

I left D3 for PoE a while back for a load of reasons that are all over the internet. D3 got repetitive, stale, every season was literally the same, I don't think in 1 season to my memory of playing that Wizard's weren't #1 (I missed a few), but nerfs never came. Wizard's just run ship. There's little to 0 incentive to be #1 at the end of the season anyway. There's no cool "reward". You just fade into obscurity 4 weeks later when the new season starts.

There's no races, there's barely any new content, and what content there is Blizzard has the audacity in one of their least accepted games to charge more $ more a DLC update. Where PoE is about to drop an entire expansion or TWO worth of content for FREE.

But, here I sit, looking at D3 thinking "I'd give the Necromancer a play" and Diablo 3 would get an active user back (I know wow 1 user), but I refuse to pay Blizzard for this little of content when the $15 charge is more than you can buy the entire game for.

Beyond that, with the recent Exploit business and how they are still not punishing all the cheaters, botters, and exploiters to keep the game actually fair...it seems ridiculous.

The game could be enjoyed by 10s of thousands of lost active users if Blizzard would just treat their game like GGG treats PoE. I'd come back if the Necromancer was Free, but I sit here even now kind of wanting to play it, but refusing adamantly about paying Blizzard anymore money to half-ass Diablo 3 anymore than they already do.

The adage so many people say "Speak with your wallet." and if you don't approve something don't pay for it. I agree with here. I am not endorsing the developers of this game with how terrible they handle developing and maintaining this game for a multi-billion dollar organization.

Just my rant, I'm sure here it will get downvoted, but there's 1000s of active PoE players and MANY of them used to be the top Diablo 3 streamers who REFUSE to return to this game for the same exact reasons.

Brand new to the game. Seems repetitive but i'm playing alone.

None of the guys i play with online have the game so it's just me doing it solo but it just seems so repetitive and it's getting challenging despite not having made much distance. I know the game is obvious best with a group but is it even worth going solo? I hear the combat is a high note but all i'm seeing is just holding X around enemies while popping a few other attacks in to get groups dwindled down.

I got the game because i've been interested in a "chill" game (as i've heard many describe it as) and it was cheap on Amazon. Does it get better over time?

Krelm's Bracers + Red Soul Shard

Is the interaction between these common knowledge? I didn't realize what I'd done and assumed the gem had been buffed to not stun any more and it wasn't till I changed my bracers that I realized my mistake.

tl;dr Krelms stun immunity applies to the red soul shard self stun.
