| At least Player Unknown seems to comprehend what the masses can't. Posted: 06 Jul 2017 01:35 AM PDT I was reading an interview with Player Unknown just now, and the topic of early access came up, which no surprise, led to Dayz. Rather than doing the usual and taking the piss out of Dayz, Player Unknown actually had some kind words to say. Figured the people here would like to see them. RPS: It does feel as if there's a lot of people frustrated though with H1Z1 and DayZ, that they're games that never seem to be finished, and they're in early access and it's been years and there still bugs. PU: Game development is hard. What makes it hard is, we work with Unreal, which is a joy because they have a company that is focused on making an engine. So there's 40 people just working on code for the engine. You look at Daybreak and Bohemia, they're working on their own engines, and that's just infinitely harder. I think the ForgeLight engine is a ten year old engine. Now, they've improved it considerably since then, but it's the same with the Arma engine, it's 15 years old. Now DayZ are making a new engine, and that's just something which takes time. It's something a lot of people don't understand and they get a lot of hate because of that. I just try to correct them whenever I can. It's like, listen, guys, they will get finished. Companies are not going to abandon games like that, you know? People say, 'oh, DayZ will never be finished,' and of course it will. People tell us we're not going to be out of early access in six months; challenge accepted. I can guarantee you, six or seven months and we're out of early access. It's the team. It's a matter of honour, you know? We will finish this game in six months. Just thought it was worth sharing. Nice to know that he isn't afraid to stand up for Bohemia and that someone with his massive following has actually managed to now get the word out to many of his fans that Dayz isn't some abandoned sinking ship :) [link] [comments] | ||

| Looking for an immersive EU server (Light Roleplay?) Posted: 06 Jul 2017 06:27 AM PDT Hello folks, I was searching for RP servers online but only stumbled upon very hardcore RP servers with big whitelist processes. I'd love to have a little lighter rp experience with low kos moments and more of a chill gameplay. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] | ||
| Can't connect to any server - help pls Posted: 06 Jul 2017 03:25 AM PDT I can't seem to connect to any server. When I press play from the title screen nothing happens and when I try to change server and click connect from the server browser I get the same issue. Nothing looks obviously off to me. Internet is fine, pings are low, servers are low pop but the connect won't even start. Anyone else? Thoughts? Thanks. Edit: I don't know what's going on but I did manage to get on a server again. This is what I did: Performed a " verify integrity of game cache " via Steam. It said it needed to redownload 1 file ( didn't specify what it was ). This didn't get me back onto the main server I have been playing on but it did however let me join a new one as a fresh spawn. As of right now when I try to access my previous server the DayZ loading screen that you see just hangs without letting you spawn. This only seems to happen with that one server so I don't know why or how. Maybe my character somehow got corrupted and it's somehow linked to that one server? Anyhoo I'm back, in boys. What I miss? | Would mod support also imply that server files will be released to public for hosting local servers? Posted: 06 Jul 2017 08:27 AM PDT Greetings! I've been contacting pretty much every DayZ server host provider for the past week, requesting to help me set up a DayZ SA server in my own country (which is usually never listed in the regular server locations of any host provider). To my dismay, all the efforts has been in vain since none of them have any plans to rent and host servers in India. I was wondering with the mod support being announced and scheduled for post beta, would it also allow server files to be released to public so that we're able to host servers in our own cities/countries. That's be so helpful; since the closest server to where I live is Singapore which yields around 120 ping. Thanks for reading. [link] [comments] | ||

| Trying to fight all the anger against DayZ Posted: 05 Jul 2017 02:26 PM PDT Not long ago I read in this subreddit about how bad reviews were burying DayZ in the Steam store, so I decided to look at the comments in my main language, Spanish, and disappointed with what spanish speakers think about the game, I decided to write a comment to redress the balance. Now, that review is the third of the most useful reviews in spanish and that made me realize that there are still many people who appreciate the game. This is the link to my review: http://steamcommunity.com/id/Capitan_Alvarito/recommended/221100/ And this is the review translated into english: Expressed with total objectivity: The only one and therefore the best of its category. It suffers from an extremely slow development, so much so that it probably have quadrupled or quintupled the usual period of development for a game in Early Access. The developers, not overnight but at a steady pace, have been too perfectionist, dedicating to the game more time than they could afford. They have spent years redesigning the graphics engine of the game and adding various features like new creatures, weapons, equipment, instead of simply polishing some mechanics and delivering to the public a game based on a mod of an old title. DayZ is unique in its kind, although other titles might look like it, this game offers the most crude and realistic survival experience in the market, adding the zombie factor and sociological factor to the challenge of interact and understand other players who live the same experiences you are living. It is advisable to avoid public and empty servers, the richest DayZ experience you can get is in a popular (25-50 players) private server (unique character) and first person only (greater realism). If you spend your days walking on a public, empty server, treasuring every weapon and every bullet until you finally die of cholera by drinking from a stagnant water well, It's normal that you don't like this game. You may now understand better my point of view that DayZ is a game that goes beyond survival and killing zombies. DayZ is all about experimenting how humans react to limit situations. So I recommend the same, if you like DayZ, you should write a Steam review or just recommend the game! [link] [comments] | ||

| Is there still any traffic for the original mod? Posted: 06 Jul 2017 06:11 AM PDT I know I might be a little late but I've just recently started playing. There are servers open, just no one on them. Are there groups that coordinate when they play together or is it just a waste of time now? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 05 Jul 2017 11:42 PM PDT I've been playing on Gents of Novo since this last wipe and now it seems like every barrel is accounted for. I find this really hard to believe, so I ask you guys am I looking in the wrong places like berrelzino, and it's surrounding areas? I even ran all the way up the coast to berrelziki checking every shed and industrial area in sight with nothing to show for it. I'm feenin like donkey kong over here, anyone got some tips for overcoming the barrel drought? [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 05 Jul 2017 06:38 PM PDT I follow DayZ development pretty closely and have since the beginning. I haven't seen anything about ambient music being put into the game and was wondering if anyone knew if the devs ever said anything about adding it to the game. I personally really enjoy having the music in game on a low volume while I play. I can still hear just fine. I understand why people don't like it on so they have a better chance of hearing footsteps and stuff but I enjoy having the music so much I'll take my chances. I have my own playlist but it's small as I haven't found much to listen to while I play. I know DayZ TV has that DayZ radio as well but I really think it'd be nice if they had their own music in game. People who don't want it can simply mute it. So I really don't understand why a game like this wouldn't have the music. Dead Linger did it so well when that game was still in development. Anyways sorry for rambling and thank you in advance to anyone who might have seen some info on this subject that I might have missed. Beta is coming my fellow survivors! Edit: If anyone has any good playlists please send them my way! =) [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 06 Jul 2017 12:10 AM PDT My friend had dayz awhile back and his problem he say is that the update when you got disconected from a server dayz makes you only join that server but the server doesn't exists so the game glitches out. And solutions? He's tried factory resetting and deleting the game but nothing worked [link] [comments] | ||
| Some ideas for player traps to make them fun, and not just trolling tools. Posted: 05 Jul 2017 10:27 AM PDT The traps that were previously in the game (well they're still in, the items were just removed) really just seemed like trolling tools. Tripmines, landmines, and unpinned grenades in containers really just made the KOS culture worse, which is what pushed many players away from the game. It just killed an unsuspecting player and ruined all of their gear, just for a funny kill. I think they should focus on non-leathal traps that would actually have strategic uses, while also adding to the atmosphere. Here are some of my ideas. Net traps These traps would be made using netting and rope on a tree, and could be upgraded with plant material to camouflage them. They would be a 2x2 meter net laying on the ground and when a player steps on it, the trap would spring and lock the player in that position. If you have a knife, you could escape by cutting it, and with no knife you could break out in a similar way to handcuff. These would also catch animals. Deadfall trap These would be made using logs, sticks, and rope/wire. It would look like a dead tree leaning at a 45 degree angle and it you walked under it the trap activates. The tree falls on you or an animal and deals 8k shock damage knocking you out, but doesn't do any blood, health, or bone damage so it wouldn't kill low health players. Hole with spikes You could make this using a shovel and sharpened sticks. You woulf dig the hole then put the sharpened sticks in, and could be upgraded by adding plant material for camouflage. This would make the player stuck and would have to break out similar to handcuffs. I think these would add some really cool gameplay elements and strategies to the game for survivalist players, while also adding more uses and value to existing mechanics like farming and hunting. | Posted: 05 Jul 2017 07:51 PM PDT My game is bugging out so I want to delete it and do a fresh install but a regular uninstall it will leave folders (or files) on my computer. Where are all the files located that I need to manually delete? I know you can do a search for "DayZ" but will that reveal all the stragglers? Any of you pros got some direction you can give me? Thank you in advance. [link] [comments] | ||

| Any fix for vehicle driving lag? Posted: 05 Jul 2017 10:26 AM PDT My game becomes more and more choppy (lower FPS) after driving in a car for a few minutes. At first, it's smooth driving then it becomes really bad on the FPS. I have to close the client and restart. The FLUSH command doesn't seem to work anymore. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
