Production is nice, but in many ways the PGL Major is a huge step back from Eleague Posted: 17 Jul 2017 09:56 AM PDT The custom HUD is nice, the visual stuff like the colour saturation and fancy skyboxes are slick (and genuinely aid colour blind people like me) But it seems like the stream is full of fluff. Huge breaks between games were already solved by having two match set ups at Eleague, so why are they back? Why are there occasionally huge technical pauses and frequent smaller pauses more or less every game? Why are the map vetoes obscure, almost impossible to read map logos? Since the beginning of the year we've been working on the PGL 2017 Kraków CS:GO Major Championship Series. It wasn't just about hosting a Major. It was meant to be a journey we could take you on with a glorious stop in Krakow where we would run the kind of event we've been dreaming about for years. Safe to say the reality and the dream are quite different. We knew at the beginning of the year we would have a full summer. These past few months have been some of the busiest and most challenging in our lives. We are disappointed that we could not give you the kind of viewing experience we think you deserve. We prided ourselves in past events for never having to take a single second of downtime during a stream. The past 2 days have been a far cry from that. We identified the cause to be related to the venue's internet service, and have since taken extra precautionary measures to prevent another outage from occurring. The bright side of all this is that we are even more motivated than ever to stage and run the main event in the Tauron Arena flawlessly. this event feels so disappointing. Posted: 17 Jul 2017 10:06 AM PDT Before this major, I was very excited to watch these games. The major qualifiers were awesome, and the observing of the matches makes the game amazing. Disappointingly, throughout this event, PGL has come off quite unprepared. Multiple technical timeouts every game, games freezing, stream crashing, and the players talking on twitter about low fps and high ping. Another factor that has made people dislike the tournament is the jump bug. Obviously PGL can't fix the bug, but they haven't given a clear statement on whether or not it should be allowed, leaving it up to the players to make a gentlemen's agreement on if they will use it or not. (EDIT: they did. never saw the article. thanks to Lucky-NiP for letting me know. https://www.hltv.org/news/21053/crouch-jump-bug-officially-allowed-at-the-major ) This tournament had a lot of potential with all of the new teams, all of the teams who are playing really well, and PGL's first major to make a big name for themselves in the CSGO competitive scene, but there have been an inexcusable about of issues so far, that the viewer is left with a bad taste in their mouth. Hopefully PGL can fix these issues and make sure everything is perfect for the arena though. I'd hate to see this level of production on a grand final stage.
