Missing Maps

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 06:11 PM PDT

Does anyone else miss trading world maps? Sure late game it's useless, but I hate how hard it is to get the entire map explored now.

Just a random thought I had playing the other day.

Why is the score system so broken (Civ6)?

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 11:04 AM PDT

I don't get it. Is it even possible to get a score above 1000 on normal settings (no mods)? I have won several games on Emperor on different map sizes but I have never gotten more than 800'ish. I have been the strongest, the one with second most culture and so on, but I just can't get a high score. Anyone have any similar experiences?

The Problem of the "Sleeping Giant Civ"

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 12:45 PM PDT

I've noticed that the recent (ish) AI upgrades to Civ6 have provided some incremental improvements that make AI a slightly less idiotic military opponent.

On the flip side, however, I've noticed that when playing at Emperor difficulty I seem to be doing well until I find that (generally last to be discovered) civilization on the other side of the planet that has basically already run away with the game.

Case in point: I decide to try for a cultural victory as China and I've established myself well on my home continent and victory rankings show me as a clear leader for a cultural victory. Then I meet Mvemba a Nzinga and he's ... wow, he's doing REALLY well. However, I'm still winning on culture so I continue on ... 20 turns later I check victory rankings and he is blowing me out of the water on culture, likely due to the fact that while I am 1.5 eras above all other civs, he is 1.5 eras above me. Example: Cavalry at 1100 AD, Broadway at ~1400 AD.

Since the most recent AI patch this "sleeping giant" Civ issue seems to happen over and over on Emperor, making it so my only chance at victory is by exploiting the (still) quite stupid military AI of the game and taking over everything (which is what takes the fun out of Immortal/Diety games IMO and is why I have been playing on Emperor). I tried switching to King and it's boring (too easy).

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this an issue with "OP" civs that I'm just happening to run into later in the game? Or did the AI get such a boost that, left alone, they will gain a runaway lead with their AI bonuses (cheats) towards the middle of the game?

Do I just need to "git gud"? Just play on King if I want to win by anything other than Domination (or MAYBE Science)?

I'm curious to see if I am alone with these frustrations or if others in the community are experiencing something similar.

Question on Siam's UA (CiV)

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 12:21 PM PDT

In a recent deity play through with Siam (second one ever wish me luck) I was surprised how much science Scholasticism (from Patronage) was giving me as I had always thought it was kind of trash. I was wondering if by chance Siam's UA had an effect on that? I know there are a couple aspects of their UA that aren't directly stated in the description so I was curious. I tried googling for any links but didn't see anything, hoped one of you might know. Thanks!

[CIV6] Nuclear Missile attack from a sub provoked zero response...

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 05:38 PM PDT

I was about to lose a cultural victory to America so I nuked Washington from a nuclear submarine. It slowed him down enough to win from a science victory. I had declared friendship with him at the time and couldn't even declare war with him before I did it. There were zero repercussions from anyone in the game. Is this because no one saw me launch it, is this a bug, what's the deal?

[CIV6] Can you get rid of an artifact?

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 11:37 AM PDT

I made a mistake and got 2 of them from the same civ. Didnt realize this until later in the game. I tried trading with the AI but he ONLY has them of 1 type. Is it possible to destroy an artifact?

Update on my UI Survey/Results/Iterations regarding Civ VI

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 12:43 PM PDT

About 6 months ago, I asked you guys to do a survey for me and I got some fantastic results. I was honestly amazed at the amount of responses that I received and I couldn't thank you guys enough. I took that information that I received from the survey and the reviews that I was seeing online and attempted to re-design some of the issues. I started this project a month or 2 after Civ VI was released, so I'm not entirely certain if some of the issues have been resolved. I haven't exactly touched the game since I finishes the project.

I was hoping to post the results here and receive some feedback from you guys and what could be improved regarding my re-design.

In case you were curious about the results of the survey: http://imgur.com/a/toTL7

This first set of slides is everything that I completed for the class. The final presentation: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1bu7v_xfhUmntbJ3qqIpl1kLACaXcIrQAKt8iFHfLxU0/edit?usp=sharing

This next set is just one of the User Pain Points that I focused on and improved slightly, as you can see in the last couple of slides: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1bu7v_xfhUmntbJ3qqIpl1kLACaXcIrQAKt8iFHfLxU0/edit?usp=sharing

If you guys could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Any love for the Communitas Enhanced Gameplay modpack?

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 09:18 AM PDT

It is definitely my favorite mod in the workshop. I was wondering what the community consensus was on the mod. Also, if there are any similar mods that overhaul the gameplay in a similar fashion to Communitas, please share!

Edit: I should specify that the mod is for Civ V

Civ V Social Policies

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 12:30 PM PDT

So I was wondering in Civ V does adopting a policy group prevent you from adopting the one below it? For instance, if you take Piety can you not take Commerce?

Got Civ V last sales. Played for a few hours (15 ish). Now should I continue playing without mods, or are there mods that improves the quality of the game, without changing the environment that much?

Posted: 11 Jul 2017 01:12 AM PDT

Like how people say Diplomacy or Floris is not essential but very recommended for every players in Mount & Blade: Warband. If so what are those Very Recommended mods?

Civ VI Leaders More Ancient than Civ V?

Posted: 10 Jul 2017 08:18 PM PDT

I'm not saying that the Civ V leaders were modern, but most of the leaders in Civ VI come from times way before the leaders in Civ V did. I believe the most recent leader in Civ VI is Gandhi, dying in 1948, and the most ancient is Gilgamesh, while in Civ V the most recent is Haile Selassie, who died in 1975, and the oldest is Ramesess.
