Probably the best Tundra City and Moai usage I've ever had in my life. I feel I got Moai to work pretty well!

My game of Civ in 1904

From wondering how people could play this game to playing non-stop (potentially send help)

Posted: 10 Jul 2017 11:23 AM PDT

So I just wanted to make this post for anyone here who for some reason has not yet played a Civ game but is wondering what all the buzz is about and is on the fence about playing it. I bought Civ Vi at release with the intent of finding out what all this buzz was about but never played it until about 4 days ago. At the start it was quite overwhelming as it's a big game to just start playing. Thankfully I found a good guide from a YouTuber called quill18 which was a good quick start guide.

Anyway my point is definitely give this game/series a go. I have racked up 18 hours in the last 4 days and all I can say is this game definitely deserved the "Just 5 more minutes" steam award.

Challenge: What's the lowest possible winning score?

Posted: 10 Jul 2017 12:34 PM PDT

You can win Civ 6 pretty easily by cheese, for instance a duel vs. Kongo gives you a pretty easy Religion Victory. I did this on Deity a while back just so I could say "I've beat Civ on Deity", and got a score of (I think) 47. I'm sure this could be beaten, though. Anyone want to give it a try?

[civ 6] Venetian

Posted: 10 Jul 2017 04:42 AM PDT

I was wondering how would Venetian civilization look in civ 6, with all the changes to housing, un-stacked cities and everything else? What should their civ ability, leaader bonus and speical units look like?

Maritime City-States in Civ VI

Posted: 10 Jul 2017 01:34 PM PDT

Though I've never played it, I've read that Civ 5 had maritime city-states. Given that we have city states to boost our holy sites, encampments, campuses, commercial hubs, industrial zones, and theater squares, I think maritime city-states would be a useful addition in Civ VI as well.

Of course, I don't know what that would do for the map-generation algorithms given that they probably should be spawned on the coast, but . . . hey, it's an idea.

In Civ 5, maritime city-states gave bonus food, which I greet with a resounding "Meh." While on the one hand, no other city-state gives food, food is not a particularly helpful yield in most cases. Personally, I favor gold and/or production to naval units or flat production boosts for each bonus. I especially like the idea of +1 flat production per city for the 1/3/6 bonuses since at least for me, production is my biggest limiting factor.

Here's some sample city-state ideas and suzerainty bonuses I came up with after a little of research. Hopefully they are not too broken! I tried to pick bonuses that were similar to other city-states and fit historically. I also tried to find harbors from around the world/historical era, though most of them trended towards later in history.

Tyre: Suzerain gains +2 Dyes

Halifax: Lighthouse bonuses are doubled

Honolulu: Boosts domestic and international tourism yields by 10%

Antwerp: +10% gold output

Scapa Flow: Naval units gain double experience

Copenhagen: Coastal bonus resources gain +1 food and +1 culture

Manila: +1 movement to all naval units (not embarked)

Tobruk: Encampments and city defenses gain +2 combat strength per era

Singapore: Trade routes gain +4 range and +1 gold

Havana: Plantations gain +1 gold and +1 culture

Helsinki: +15% production towards ships

Byzantine Empire?

Posted: 10 Jul 2017 05:18 PM PDT

I feel like the Byzantine Empire would be a good Civ to return in Civilization VI. As of now, the only religious Civs I can think of are Arabia and Spain, maybe a few more, so Byzantine could be a good addition to the crowd, with Theodora possibly returning.

Alright, so the last post I made helped me out, but these mods that I installed are clashing (The list of mods I have are: Better Trade Screen, Improvements Patch, Yet (not) Another Maps Pack, Better Civilization Icons, AI+, Moar Units, Tomatekh's Historical Religions, Gold Resource, Unique District Icons, Resourceful, R.E.D. Modpack, R.E.D. for Moar Units, CQUI (Weekly), Real Great People, Take Your Time - Civic 2x and Take Your Time - Science 2x)

The game doesn't work when I load it, I can tell when it isn't working because the mouse doesn't click in-game, can I please get some help for this?
