Does the lack of indoor locations in BotW bother anyone else?

Posted: 21 Jun 2017 05:49 AM PDT

I personally believe this is the biggest flaw with BotW.

More indoor areas or caves to explore would've been great...Or diving/iron boots to explore water. 🤔

All I can remember is the hideout/shrines and the last area of the game where there are big indoor encounters/puzzles.

Do you guys think they'll do anything about this with dlc or will I have to hope for a similar sequel? 🤔

[BoTW] [SPOILERS] Yiga clan hell

Posted: 21 Jun 2017 01:22 AM PDT

So after finishing the Yiga clan hideout mission in Breath of the Wild, Yiga clan members keep spawning out of thin air and trying to kill me, constantly, all the time. As easy to kill as they are, it's starting to get really really annoying.

Is there a way to stop them from randomly spawning all the time? Or are my Korok hunting excursions around Hyrule forever plagued by this Yiga induced hell?

I'm at the stage where I can't even deal with bananas in real life anymore. I went to the supermarket the other day and just seeing the little yellow shits in the fruit section pissed me off. I used to love bananas. The Yiga Clan is ruining my life. Can anyone help me?

Breath of the Wild is going to be really hard to top.

Posted: 21 Jun 2017 04:41 AM PDT

I'm not just saying that because hypetrain. There's a number of different reasons why it won't be surpassed.

It was announced at the beginning of 2013 and released in 2017. That's a full 4 years assuming they started production at the beginning at of 2013 and not earlier. That means the next Zelda game won't be out til 2021 at the earliest.

Also, if you've been playing Zelda games as long as I have, you'll note that Nintendo recycles a lot of ideas into a formula that hasn't changed much since the original. That's not a bad thing. I always said if it ain't broke, then don't fix it. A lot of ideas in BoTW can be found in previous Zelda installations. For instance the paraglider is basically the deku leaf from Wind Waker, some of the puzzles from Skyward Sword were really similar to BoTW mini-dungeons, and finally, the story. It's more or less the same story since the original Zelda. Again, if it works, don't mess with it. The free roam "gimmick" seemed to have been the idea that made the game fresh and unique from predecessors. But overall, it seems that Nintendo pretty much used the best ideas from the previous Zelda games and it's going to be hard to top that without being really redundant or taking a step backwards.

I realized this when replaying Wind Waker HD. Up until BOTW, most Zeldas were more similar and close successors to one another. That's why when something as fresh as Majora's Mask rolled around, I loved it so much more. I think this is the only path a BoTW sequel can follow. Non Ganon new enemy, different gameplay mechanisms, and an entirely new concept. Because as it stands, BoTW is the best Zelda game by far. The amount of content, features, and ideas coupled with free roam set the bar pretty high up. Anything else short of that isn't going to give the same amount of impact that BoTW did.

Did anyone else accidently beat BotW? (Light spoilers?)

Posted: 20 Jun 2017 10:49 AM PDT

I decided to take a stroll into the central Hyrule area right after my second beast to see what I would be up against later in the game. A few waterfalls and a couple climbs later and I was at the castle gate. Was not expecting to trigger the final boss fight, but once the cutscene started I decided to just roll with it. "Just until he kills me, I didn't cook any real food anyway." One thing let to another and now the credits are rolling.

Did anybody else beat the game well before they intended to?

Any tips for finding last 2 shrines?

Posted: 21 Jun 2017 04:35 AM PDT

I finished the 4 divine beasts and am at 118 shrines. I don't want to use a guide and was wondering if anyone had any tips for finding the last 2 without combing through every inch of the map (as I thought I had done when I got to every area..)

[BOTW] [spoilers] Three Spirits

Posted: 21 Jun 2017 09:04 AM PDT

That cryptic description might be overkill, but I thought the discovery of dragons was really exciting and wouldn't want it ruined for me.

Anyway, I'm just curious which Dragon everyone saw first? I think Farosh is the easiest to encounter, but the game sort of leads you to Naydra if you are going where people indicate.

I don't suppose anyone saw Dindra first??

Mine was Nayrudra, which was an awesome part of the game and made the other two a bit disappointing since they just show up and you don't interact with them at all.

EDIT: looked up and added the English names. Hoped I could guess around that but apparently they changed them.

Random question about Ocarina of Time: How strong is Volvagia's fire breath?

Posted: 21 Jun 2017 02:49 AM PDT

If you're wondering why I ask, it's because I got into a discussion with a friend about how, yes, you can carry lots more healing items in Breath of the Wild, but the enemies deal a lot more damage...

And, I was wondering, which enemy in the history of Zelda has the highest damage-per-hit? I know Iron Knuckles in OoT can hit for 3 hearts, and Snap Dragons from Link to the Past can do 3 as well...but I remember from way back last time I played OoT, that Volvagia did a truly massive amount of damage, something like 4 or 6 hearts (I don't remember) and I wanted someone to confirm it.

While you're here, do you know if there's any other enemy in the Zelda series, excluding Breath of the Wild, who can deal 4 or more hearts of damage with each hit?

If you release epona, can you get her back?

Posted: 21 Jun 2017 10:05 AM PDT

So I'm on a holiday staying with family, and i decided to let the children here play my BotW game file, because the young girl here loves horses.

Basically I let her run around on my horses near one of the stables. Silly me also showed her how to catch a horse.

Anyway i come back after an hour or so, and shes captured a new spotted horse and registered it at a stable. In the process releasing Epona.

I cant load a save where Epona was still in the stable. So I was wondering if I could just use the smash bros link amiibi again when I get home.

My theory as to where Breath of the Wild takes place in the timeline.

Posted: 21 Jun 2017 04:01 AM PDT

Maybe someone probably already brought this up, but my theory is, that the events leading up to Calamity Ganon, actually re-connected the timelines.

All three timelines and their respective histories (and locations exclusive to said timelines) just fused together. And keep in mind, Ganon(dorf) canonically died in two of said timelines, which helps the fact why there is still one Ganon.

Actually this idea is almost exactly like the scenario from Hyrule Warriors: Legends. Where the Windwaker Timeline fuses with the Twilight Princess Timeline. (Despite not being canon, that at least proves that it's not an alien concept to the series)

Lost the Hylian shield to Lightning Ganon in the divine beast.

Posted: 21 Jun 2017 09:51 AM PDT

Was fighting the lightning teleport ganon in the divine beast and I got electrocuted, dropping my Hylian shield and then in the chaos of the boss fight forgot I had dropped it. I killed the beast and left the dungeon only to realize I left my Hylian shield inside and couldn't go back :( anyone know if there's another way?

[SPOILERS] The end of Skyward Sword

Posted: 20 Jun 2017 08:21 PM PDT

The ending of Skyward Sword makes the pointless padded sections of the game worth it, in my opinion. The fight with Demise is simple and straightforward but it works. The atmosphere is fantastic, and I can't help but feel an impeding sense of doom as I'm fighting him. The lightning strikes and storm clouds really add to the atmosphere and setting of the arena. On a side note, it kind of reminds of the water temple in Ocarina of Time where you fight Shadow Link.

The writing at the end is absolutely terrific. I couldn't help but feel sad when Fi says goodbye to Link, even though I couldn't stand her throughout most of the game. The way the writers developed Groose as a character is terrific, and he actually turns out to be a great asset to the game as a whole. Overall, the ending makes the game worth it, I think Demise works as a final boss, and the writing is incredible. Beautiful game, with a lot of water works at the end.

I can not wait!

Posted: 20 Jun 2017 09:05 PM PDT

I have been unsubscribed from r/zelda since the day BOTW released. I have remained completely spoiler free for the past three months and I finally have the Switch ordered. I am excited to begin my next adventure into Hyrule and I wanted to share that excitement with other Hylians! In about 10 days I will begin my journey!
