Loving ESO (Long time fan of TES, Casual MMO player)

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 04:20 PM PDT

Greetings, all.

<br>

A little context: When I first bought TES: Morrowind years ago on Xbox, I was so confused and overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the world and the insane depth of lore. I did not understand how quests worked, or how to even pursue the main narrative. I actually returned the disc to Gamestop for some pittance of game credit.

Later on, once the hype for Oblivion had begun, I decided to buy back the same exact copy I'd sold off and plunged into Morrowind. Somehow, wiser, or at least more patient, I fell in love with the lore, storytelling, complex RPG mechanics, and most importantly, the scope of choice and freedom. I was hooked, and played Morrowind off and on for years until I had access to Skyrim, which I also engulfed and perhaps overplayed.

Aside for Final Fantasy 11, I've never really been interested in an MMORPG. For me, MMOs never seemed to capture my attention and I disliked many of the people who were WAY too into them. No offense, but you know the archetype I'm conveying here, I'd hope. And Final Fantasy 11 was great, however, I was playing on a dial up modem which made enjoying the game or getting very far basically impossible. Also, I was 12 and puberty hit pretty hard.

Flash forward to "Today."

I'd heard about ESO but wasn't really interested until recently when I heard about the Morrowind expansion. I debated and researched before finally taking the plunge and buying the title. I'm so glad I did! I'm only level 6, but am feeling just as immersed in the lore and quests as any other TES game. I think the writing and voice acting is top-notch. I can't wait to explore the continent and to eventually leave and discover everything else that awaits in the mainland.

If anyone has any insider tips or hints for a newbie to the game, I would so appreciate it. I'm trying to improve my crafting in alchemy, clothing, and provisions if that helps provide any more useful information about my interests. My current main is a Breton Warden. My Username is Dissolvi. Thanks!

TL;Dr: Love TES, hated MMOs, now loving ESO and need quest/guild buddies!

How to solo as a magicka warden?

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 04:59 PM PDT

Right now I cannot seem to finish Nchuleftingth as my warden doesn't seem to be able to handle it. Questing is okay for the most part, but any public dungeon or solo non-quest content seems to be incredibly difficult to finish. For reference I am using a staff, light armor, magicka based build. Even in the early levels, I don't remember having this big of an issue with my other characters. Is there something I'm missing or this class a bit weaker on the solo?

How many of you play " non-optimal " race/class combos?

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 07:39 AM PDT

Just for curiosities sake , I was wondering about what you guys play. Do you guys focus on racials and minmax ? Or go for more of " fuck you I do what I want " ?

next eso event idea

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 06:58 PM PDT

a guild themed event. so what we get is double guild XP progress and double undaunted drops.

so undaunted, fighters and mages all lvl up faster. rewards from daily pledges and daily quests doubled any some other guild themed stuff such as each daily gives u a box with a motif page from ANY of the guilds aka thieves guild, dark bro, akaviri, merc, maybe make a mages guild style for the event. ect ect. Reduce the cost of the undaunted vendor helmets in cyro and make an rng box for 1 week Also maybe double drop on undaunted helmets maybe not. this last point im not too sure about how it would work

why they should do this?

  • make grinding new toons up guild parts easier, with skyreach fighters is easy but mages is still annoying and undaunted just a turn off for alot of players.

-increase the incentive to do pledges (especially for pvp players and veterans who have BIS traits already)

-by increasing all the people doing pledges, makes it easier for newer players to find groups

dont rip into me too hard in the comments plz <3

[PS4] Thinking about returning after about 2 years away.

Posted: 11 Jun 2017 01:04 AM PDT

I played the shit out of ESO at release and for about the first month and a half. Ultimately, i stopped because it felt kinda shallow without having anyone to play with. I ran a bow and arrow nightblade that struggled to kill anything without help and since none of my friends like mmos, i was left to solo grind. Plus i usually only play after midnight and the servers used to always go down at about 4 am so i couldn't get any extended play in.

But the release of morrowind and a new class has peaked my interest again. So let me ask, how has it changed since month 2 of release? Is it worth buying all the add-ons or should i get plus?

TL;DR How has the game changed since release?

Is there an addon that will allow me to choose quests to remove from the quest tracker?

Posted: 11 Jun 2017 03:52 AM PDT

I would like to be able to accept a lot of quests without the hassle of having to scroll through all of them on the quest tracker.

Posted: 11 Jun 2017 03:22 AM PDT

So i ran into this issue today. I changed the name on one of my toons and now when i queue into random dungen game stutters for a seconds exactly every 5 seconds. Before that i didn't experience such a problem and it's fine on my other characters. Can this be fix or is this an issue on ZOS side?

How do guild stores exactly work?

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 05:38 PM PDT

Thanks in advance

So, I know you can buy and sell from them and all, but I'm a bit confused. Right now I'm saving up gold to buy a Xivkyn Auger polymorph from a guild store because it just won't drop from a Superb Imperial Reward apparently, so I'm saving up gold just to have enough for a polymorph if anyone ever sells the Xivkyn Auger polymorph in a guild store.

So, my guilds that I'm in have guild stores, but no guild traders, does this mean they do not have a guild trader out and about in major cities or areas that people normally go to? Do I still sell my things there or not since they don't have a guild trader, and does that mean I can't sell my items to whoever decides to buy them from the guild store?

[PC] Wondering about game specs on a laptop before I buy the game for my daughter

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 04:31 PM PDT

I'm thinking about buying the game for my college age daughter to play as a gift, but before I spend the money I want to be sure that it'll run on her computer- especially after we found out that Fallout 4 would not. And in checking online, I'm getting mixed feedback on whether or not it will run the game.

She has a laptop (flip screen model) that is running an Intel Core i5-6200u 2.3 GHZ with 8 gigs ram and an Intel HD graphics 520. We know it's not a gaming laptop and if she's going to game... yada, yada. :-) For not and the foreseeable future it's what she's got and what we have to work with.

So will it run the game, and will it run it so that it's playable? In particular is the graphics card, which we realize is the major weakpoint, going to be able to handle this, and if it's borderline or no, is there anything, being a laptop, that can be done to help or improve it so that it can.

Thanks a bunch for your help.

[XBOX ONE] Frequent crashes since returning, about 1 every hour

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 03:36 PM PDT

Came back to ESO for Morrowind and my game will crash approximately once an hour. Sometimes the screen freezes and other times I just get booted out to the opening screen. Anyone else having this issue or know if I am doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance!

I've not once had this happen to me in a year of playing, but it's now happening a lot since Morrowind

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 05:01 AM PDT

First it was with the Warden, now on my DK, it seems to be from dual wield weaving. I'll be running a rotation, then seemingly my game lags up, and my character will stop attacking (except Light Attacks I think), then all the abilities will come out at once on my screen. I know for a fact that it isn't lag though, because my ping at the time is fine. I've only seen it happen with dual wield and I'm wondering it anyone has also seen this a lot lately.

[pc] Is morrowind worth this much money? some people are complaining it is equal to Orsinium dlc

Posted: 11 Jun 2017 02:39 AM PDT

[PS4] Since Marrowind the Resource defenders got an overhaul.

Posted: 11 Jun 2017 02:32 AM PDT

I use to have no problem taking out the Farm, Mill, Mine defenders. Since the Marrowind overhaul the defenders are insane. They spam Silence, Lightless Sphere, and all the other effects that can disable you permanently so you can't do nothing the entire time you are there.

As if that not bad enough. You then find out the Nightblades are there sneaking around waiting until you get wounded just enough for an assassination backstab.

Is it just me or do others think they need to fix the overpowered defender resource issue?

You can't have all those defenders cross slatted with all the high powered spam attacks. Then give the advantage to some smart sneaky nightblade realizing their level 15 night blade can assassinate Champion 600 players at the Resources. Because the Resource Defenders wore them down.

I don't know though do you low level Night blades like the fact you can kill the toughest Champions at the Resources now?

Julianos vs War Maiden

Posted: 10 Jun 2017 12:43 PM PDT

Could someone explain why everyone feels it's either one or the other? I feel that running: 5x Julianos 5x War Maiden 2x Willpower Swords 1x vMA Shock Staff, would be so awesome. Radiant Oppression would it like a truck with all that extra magic damage. Is there something I'm missing?

New player and some questions about vampirism, no spoilers please.

Posted: 11 Jun 2017 02:11 AM PDT

I have been carefully looking into vampirism and thinking about it... but it's hard to look without accidentally getting into spoilers about the questline etc... I have avoided it so far but having trouble getting some specific details. A lot of info is old and things may have changed as well.

  • Any major drawbacks to turning at a lower level? (I'm currently mid-20's) I understand original mobs were lvl 38-40 but with one tamriel...
  • Vamps have to feed, is it really every 30 minutes and once you feed the counter starts again for the next 30 minutes... or does feeding give you some grace time (how much?) and the 30 minutes is just before stage 2 kicks in once the grace time runs out?
  • If it is every 30 minutes anyone with vampirism have thoughts on how much of a pain it is? It feels like it would be a pain...
  • Does vampire skill line level by having an ability on your bar or by feeding or ? something else?
  • Do NPC's realize you are a vampire at a specific stage or at all... and when they do do guards attack on sight, vendors raise (or lower) prices etc... ?
  • Beside not being able to pursue Lycanthropy does being a vampire block access to any other Quests, Guilds or skill lines etc...

I'm playing a thunder thief style build and doing dark brotherhood and thieves guilds so Vampirism seemed like it would be a good fit.

Thanks in advance.
