Posted: 26 Jun 2017 01:00 AM PDT

Hey folks,

Welcome to Mages Guild Monday, a community-building, regularly occurring thread on the subreddit!

Know of a place that yields a particularly good reward? Got a tip about how to most efficiently accomplish quests? Have some good intel on good ways to serve your alliance in PvP? Let the community know!

In addition, if you're new to following the game, this thread is your chance to ask questions and get help from veteran players.

Please keep in mind the 'no personal attacks' rule in our sidebar, disagree respectfully with others, and know that a repeated or seemingly obvious bit of knowledge may not be obvious to everyone.

We look forward to your contributions!

Will ESO last as long as other mmos?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 12:40 AM PDT

I come from playing runescape and world of Warcraft, both of which have remained extremely popular over the past decade. I play on console and have to say the player base looks like it's at its peak. Do you think ESO has the potential to last?

ELI5 Dolmen\Dark Anchor farming

Posted: 25 Jun 2017 11:35 PM PDT

I've seen a bunch of posts about this when researching fastest ways to level up.(I do understand that Skyreach is still the fastest way) A lot of the info I can find is for pre-morrowind. Do these still apply? What levels would this be optimal? Do I have to hit all the mobs or can I simply stand close to them to get the exp, like afk? How does the respawn timer work? Do people run around from anchor to anchor in raid groups or in smaller groups?

Anything else I should know?

Brand New To MMO'S, Help On Starting My Build

Posted: 25 Jun 2017 07:40 PM PDT

Note: I have been trying to research this stuff but I have been having trouble figuring things out. Some personal help would be fantastic.

I am brand new to ESO and MMO'S in general, and I created a character without really thinking. I just picked a race and alliance and started doing random quests to level up. I am currently a L16 DK High Elf. I want to make a Magdk DPS PvE build but don't know where to start. I don't want to restart my character but if it is a must then I will be willing.

Questions:

Should I work on just picking up loot as I do quests or try to get specific sets of armor?

Which abilities (ultimates, actives and passives) should I be leveling up, which ones should I avoid?

What staff(s) should I be trying to obtain?

Where on the map should I be going to get these things?

Sorry if this sounds a bit much, these are just things I would like to know before continuing to level up my character. I don't want to get to level 40 and not know what I am doing, lol.

Thanks!

What's going on in Karthdar Grahtwood? (NA)

Posted: 25 Jun 2017 07:14 PM PDT

No idea what I walked into, but enemies' bodies everywhere, bots running in lines doing exact same moves and go from enemies to enemies, all Templars.

I tried to take screenshots, but they don't look clear enough.

I guess the point of this post is that, ESO has definitely become better now, but stuff like this just reminds me of the old days when bots ran around and gold farmers are everywhere. If anyone come across Karthdar in Grahtwood, please report some of them.

Thanks

[PC] New player confusion..

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 12:57 AM PDT

Hey there!

So I am new to ESO and I managed to get Tamriel Edition + Morrowind together. Thing is, my new character starts in Morrowind (Vvardenfell). I know that people without Morrowind have another 'starting' location and I wonder if there is any way for me to start there instead? Even though there is mob scaling I struggled a lot as a Warden (died a lot, didnt do much dps at lvl 5 as you can probably imagine..), so I rolled Templar - it was better, but I still feel lost on this map.

So my question is, can I somehow choose to start an original campaign, or however it is called? :<

Monday maintenance time it's down. I'm sure this topic has been beat to death sorry.

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 02:40 AM PDT

I'm sure it has. But I just started playing a few weeks ago and would like to know what time is the best/worst case scenario when we can expect the game to be back up after a Monday restart. It went down for me at 3am CST. Thanks fellow reddit

Daily Dungeons?

Posted: 25 Jun 2017 08:22 PM PDT

What are these daily dungeons people keep talking about and how do I do them? Do I need to be higher level (only lvl 20) right now?

I feel like I'm missing a lot of content and game stuff. I'm just running around doing quest after quest right now.

New summer event?

On my way to the wayshrine out of Cyrodiil and I spotted a flag and bowl of tomato soup I'd never seen before. Found a book with some information about that hints to a summer event possibly. https://imgur.com/a/54Bsu

Housing blues

Posted: 25 Jun 2017 10:33 AM PDT

I may be wrong in some of this but after realizing I dropped 1.2 mil on my house and finding out I can't even display all the dungeon bust/heads because the trophy limit is 40, I gotta say I'm really bummed out. Zos shouldn't limit the amount of types of furnishings. I can see the item overall limit but come on why hamper what you decorate with. I understand this system is a cash dump, but I shouldn't have to buy another house just to show off what I've earned. This kinda sets a meta on houses, because you can only display all your achievement on the most expensive house. If someone was to sell me a house and tell me I can only decorate the house with items they deemed in a suitable to the overall space of the house I'd say fuck you and have deer heads fucking everywhere.

BG advice for a returning player

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 01:44 AM PDT

Hey guys as the title suggests i have just returned from a 3 month break due to work / study requirements. I am a keen pvper and very interested in the new battlegrounds. I will be playing as a stam sorc who is cp160 but has not yet completed gearing.

Am i ok to jump straight in to battlegrounds or will i get crushed instantly?

Any advice on how to get ready for battlegrounds would be appreciated.

Competitiveness with High Ping

Posted: 25 Jun 2017 11:08 PM PDT

Hi folks, I'm curious -- just how much of a disadvantage would I be at for PvE DPS with weaving/anim cancelling; VMA; and PVP with an average ping around 150-170? (Hawaii).

How critical is race choice?

Posted: 25 Jun 2017 07:52 PM PDT

I am a returning player, I played mostly at the original game launch (for PC, went through most original content without gaining champion points), and made a couple very brief returns to check out Dark Brotherhood and such.

I figure I've been gone long enough that it might be a good idea to start a new character from scratch, my old character is a stealthy dark elf sorcerer stam build, bow/bow with 120ish cp. He's level 50 in all the gear crafting skills, so the new toon would do the consumables crafting.

Going Nightblade this time, stam build with dual wield and probably bow is the current plan. My question though, is how critical is the race choice really? I don't have the time nor patience to level multiple specialized toons for specialized roles, so if I wanted to run a magicka build later on I would respec this toon rather than roll another Nightblade with a more suitable race.

Is hundings hall worth it?

Posted: 25 Jun 2017 05:53 PM PDT

I really love redguard stuff in the game and i've been wanting to get a redguard home for a while now. After an insufferably long time i'm about to have enough gold for hundings palatial hall, and i've been thinking... is it really worth getting?

I already have mournoth keep, and other than putting crafting stations in and carelessly dumping a bunch of palm trees around in anticipation of the redguard home, i haven't really touched it, nor do i use it.

Considering it has a relatively large space, decent architecture and unlike the hall, situated right next to a shrine, do i even want hundings at all? Should i spend gold something more worthwhile? Also, what is a decent way to make gold for someone as unskilled as me?
