As a newcomer to Civ I've never heard it touted as a co-op game, but they should really advertise the multiplayer aspect more

My wife and I love playing boardgames together, but it can be difficult to get a group together or find a good game to play with just two people. Last night we bought Civ V complete and had an absolute blast with it in hot-seat mode.

Unused leader interaction animations

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 08:39 AM PDT

This is about Civ VI. Probably should've specified that in the title.

By making use of a glitch that happens when meeting another leader for the first time, while playing as a modded alternate leader, or while playing with a lot of mods, I've found out that some, if not all, leaders have additional positive interaction animations, like the leaders in Civ 5 had. For some reason, these have not been coded to be properly used in the game, which instead causes the leaders to use the same animations that we've seen so often over and over.

Here are four I've successfully recorded:

Mvemba a Nzinga

Jadwiga

Cleopatra

Tomyris (she still makes the "HM" sound in this, by the way)

In addition, I know that Teddy has one as well, where he pretends to be lifting an invisible hat, but sadly I've not been able to record it. I've checked the following leaders without fruit; John Curtin, Gandhi, Catherine, Cyrus, Victoria and Harald, however it's possible that when this glitch happens it picks randomly from the used and unused animations, rather than the unused one(s) right away, and I've just been plain unlucky.

I'll end this post with something else I recorded in attempt to find more unused animations, which I found a little amusing; Catherine's wine glass flying out of her hand.

[Civ 6]There should be scientific relics you can unlock somehow that give tourism and science

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 11:06 AM PDT

I don't know exactly how you'd unlock them but there could be the Antikythera Mechanism, Galileo Galilei's first telescope, Gutenburg's printing press or Charles Babbage's Analytical Engine. They'd be stored either in the palace or in the campus district.

Civ vi: got nuked for the first time...

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 07:56 PM PDT

Then a second, third, and fourth time all on the same city. Ai thermonuclear bombed my capital four times In a row which I am grateful for. If they had directed the other three to my other production centres I would have lost. So does ai only bomb capitals?

Civ 5: Trade route that yields over 295 gold per turn

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 04:06 AM PDT

I realize this is against subreddit rules, but the only thing I could find on it was from several years ago. When on DirectX 10-11 the UI icons and images progressively get more and more distorted. Besides launching with DirectX 9, is there a fix?

Damage Incorporated's The Utopian Struggle Mod Release

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 04:44 PM PDT

Damage Incorporated (DI) Civilization 6 Division is releasing its new upcoming mod The Utopian Struggle for Civilization 6.

The mod is out now on the steam workshop found under the most recent tab for anyone interested in playing. There is a version for those without the DLC and those who have all the DLC that Firaxis has released so far.

This mod of Civilization 6 was inspired by the NQ mod of Civilization 5 that we, in the civilization community, all know to have revitalized the game itself more than a few times. I have spent the past 6 plus months learning and creating a mod with the help of a group I built within a clan named Damage Incorporated. Our clan's Civilization 6 Division helped inspire me to test various changes to the base game and inspire new reworks of the many facets of Civ 6.

The list of changes to base game include 5 major reworks:

The Naval Rework rebalancing naval unit strength, production, and coastal city management.

The Religion Rework rebalancing pantheons, beliefs, and the importance of faith / religion.

The Government Rework rebalancing policy cards, governments, and legacy/initial governement bonuses.

The Civ Leaders Rework rebalancing almost all of the civ leaders and bringing Scythia and Gilgamesh back into multiplayer games.

The Base Game Rework rebalancing tall vs wide city building strategies, early game mechanics, tech tree, civics tree, scouting, yield tiers, and so much more.

For all those curious, the full change log list can be found here for your view pleasure (be warned it is quite extensive):

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NdVi6yP6cd0LWbL74EE1qOYPlYCZLq3534z8D4SxQ7E/edit?usp=sharing

Brothers and sisters of the Civilization Community, I am implore you to come play the new meta of Civilization as it evolves and grows to expand the game beyond the current meta, we have all grown so tired of. I hope this mod serves as a source of inspiration to show that Civilization 6 can become a game with a constantly evolving meta game and continue to hold our love for strategic conquest for the months to come.

Best Regards,

DASGUTENBRAT, Modder and Vice of the Civilization 6 Division, Damage Incorporated

Declaring War and Open Borders

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 03:32 PM PDT

In history countries have declared war after provocations like invasion of territory, gunning military, etc. In civ it should just be a formality but people should be able to invade space, pillage tiles, or destroy military unit without it.

Just bought Civ 6 from steam sale, what do I need to know?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 07:59 AM PDT

Just got Civ 6 from the steam sale, I am a patient gamer and have been waiting a while for it to go on sale before I bought it.

Anyways I am a long time veteran of Civ 5, beating up through immortal. What should I know about Civ VI? Any tips, must needed wonders, useless wonders, civs to watch out for? Are there any must have mods?

Appreciate the help, thanks!

Civ6 Immortal Early Priorities

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 09:38 AM PDT

What should the early priorities be for immortal and deity as Australia? Should I build a larger military or try for early settlers? I always try to get first settler at around turn 35 or so which worked for me on lower difficulties but ai always get to my desired spots before me. What should I aim for in the first hundred or so turns and with each city? Feels like I'm hella behind and falling further behind with each turn.

Civ Rev 2 64 bit support?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 02:15 PM PDT

Any word from 2K about porting Civ Rev 2 to 64 bit? I really enjoy playing this on my iPad and would hate to not being able to carry on if the new update happens.

Is there any news or will Civ Rev 2 be quietly retired?

If I bought Civ VI Digital Deluxe Edition in the pre-sale, should I now have Australia?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 05:41 PM PDT

I think the deluxe edition now comes with Australia and some other scenarios that I don't have since I bought the game in the pre-sale before they upgraded the deluxe edition. It's odd that they wouldn't also upgrade the loyal customers that bought the game right when it was released.

Dug up these Sid Meier's old games, are they worth anything ?

[Civ VI] Let's talk City-States; ideas for mods.

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 11:08 AM PDT

I was playing a game where I was suzerain of Zanzibar and was heavily considering capturing the city for myself. After debating it in my head I figured I'd rather keep the luxury resources and I got to thinking; why would these resources cease to be created by the city simply because I conquered it?

Similarly, why would certain tile improvements for other CSs be discontinued after conquest? From a realistic perspective wouldn't the citizens still know how to create these improvements?

I already think City-States should have more diplomatic options, but wouldn't it be cool if the suzerain bonuses applied to the city after they were conquered?

What does everybody think of this idea?

Any good tutorial videos/posts?

Posted: 26 Jun 2017 05:04 PM PDT

I just bought Civ 5 and have never played a game like this but it looks really fun. I am not very smart when it comes to strategic games and can't follow along very well. I always end up getting bored cause I don't know how to play correctly, even if I play the tutorial. If someone could link me a good thorough video or post to explain this game in a more understandable way, that would be awesome. Thank you :) P.S. I apologize if this isn't the place to post this.
