Weekly Role Discussion Thread: Offense - May 06, 2017

Posted: 05 May 2017 10:04 PM PDT

In this weekly thread you can discuss the Offense roles of Overwatch to your heart's delight. What are the characteristics of those heroes?

The main objective of the offense role is to scout the area, harass the opposing team, and press the objective. Heroes classified as offense generally have high damage weapons and abilities and lower health pools than tanks and some defense heroes. They are usually excellent duelists with high mobility and good burst or sustained damage.

Overwatch Wikia

You can find a list of the current offensive heroes on the Overwatch Hero Overview.

Share guides and strategies that are valuable to an offensive Overwatch Hero or other tips and tricks that helped you to get better. You can also propose ideas why a certain hero is bad in your eyes and how to make it better. Please do so in a constructive way!

Forget Deathfist, Hero 25 is already in the game and Blizzard should to unlock him NOW

Posted: 06 May 2017 10:17 AM PDT

Yeah, that's right.

Hero 25 is already in the game. It's a big, beautiful, has one eye and two guns for arms. I didn't even say its name, but you probably already knew I was talking about Training Bot. It's absolutely ludicrous that blizzard put all these resources into making heroes only to bar us from ever playing them. I bought this game, I'm paying the developers, and they're not delivering on my expectations!

It's mind boggling. I put 30 bucks into Overwatch after watching somebody playing some stupid cowboy character shoot at a really charismatic robot with GUNS FOR ARMS. I immediately thought "Wow, I've never seen a robot with guns for arms, that's so cool" and purchased the game within the hour. You can imagine how appalled I was when not only did never get the chance to play as the goofy voiced Training Bot. He's a fully developed hero, with voice acting and TWO different legendary skins!

I like to think of myself as more of a hardcore gamer, you know I played dark soul once. I don't really enjoy the PvP in Overwatch, but I do some speedruns of the PvE content (which may I also say is EXTREMELY lacking). I think the Training Bot would add some much needed difficulty to the otherwise casual gameplay that Overwatch has to offer. Why would I care about some guy who punches things? If I wanted to punch things I'd just box in real life. When am I EVER going to get the chance to live out my fantasies as a robot with guns for arms? I think they'd also really add a lot to the casual players who do quickplay and competitive because there just aren't that many heros in the game who shoot things with their arms. I guess Orisa and Bastion kinda shoots things with arm guns, but they only use their right arms. As an ambidextrous, I think Blizzard's exclusion of the Training Bot from the main hero roster is incredibly ablest. I expected better from them.

TL;DR Training Bot when?

Thank You

Orisa's PTR changes are kinda bad.

Posted: 06 May 2017 11:57 AM PDT

I don't feel like the PTR changes for Orisa made the character more useful in anyway, just pushed her to a role other heroes are better at. These changes also made her a lot less fun to play as, and play against. Both teams now have to shoot barriers more often. Of course, decreasing a the cool down on her barrier means more barriers that the enemy team has to bring down, but on live Orisa's damage is good for taking down barriers because they are big and (for the most part) stationary.

Orisa's primary fire is the most unique part of her kit. It rewards players for learning of to lean their shots and is the only thing that defends her from flankers. It is not over-powered though, because characters with high mobility could easily run circles around her and be really hard to track.

The PTR changes basically just make her a barrier dispensing robot that dies to flankers even more. Orisa has a pretty cool niche role on live, On the PTR that niche role was pushed aside in favor of Orisa being a crappy rein.

I would definitely have a ,what some call, under powered character with a niche role, rather than a under powered that is easily replaced.

Edits:grammar and sentence structure. (wow front page. I didn't think too many people would agree with me. I'm glad I got the discussion going.)

Why is no one talking about the fact that there is a colony of space science rebel gorillas building a government on the moon?

Posted: 06 May 2017 12:50 PM PDT

Winston concurrently is my favorite character in the overwatch lore, and it perplex's me how this piece of his backstory is being completely overlooked.

THERE'S LITERALLY A NEW COUNTRY MADE OF MONKEYS BEING BUILT ON THE MOON.

Who's their leader?

How do they run power?

Do they have sustainable oxygen?

Did the world officially recognize them as an independent state of governing?

SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!
