Dyrus has hit master in his try hard for good climb!

2 weeks for current map rotation is excessive.

Posted: 07 May 2017 08:56 AM PDT

I think 1 week is enough for people. Especially with the brawl being Hanamura as well.

TIL Cloaked characters are not fully invisible. They are just a transparent blur.

Posted: 07 May 2017 08:35 AM PDT

Every time I would play probius I would get destroyed by a Valeera or xeratul. Then I saw something that turned out to be Valeera trying to sneak up on me. This has helped me become a way better player. Once you have a trained eye it's hard to get killed by a stealth character.

Tip: If you're behind in XP, soak lanes without pushing them

Posted: 07 May 2017 10:32 AM PDT

There's an urge to clear waves but doing so only puts you in danger of ganks. If enemy minion wave is bigger and near your buildings, simply stand there and only kill some minions to keep them away from the turrets. Don't let your minions to grow in number though.

  1. Doing this won't push the lane so you can safely soak with enemy minions coming to you every 30 seconds.
  2. Your minions die without enemy heroes around, thus denying them XP.
  3. You can also soak without showing yourself to the enemy, denying them information.

When you're ready to rotate to objective, only then fully clear the wave.

Edit: I should have clarified that by "behind" I had in mind mid/late game. If it's early game and you have waveclear, push lanes to get XP from buildings. When forts are gone, pushing becomes much riskier.

What I got in 1 week without spending a cent.

Posted: 07 May 2017 12:04 PM PDT

In a week of playing (including today) as a new player without spending any cash, I've acquired the following:

  • 1400 gems (premium currency)
  • 25 heroes (1 free first pick, 20 heroes Assassin's Bundle, 5 heroes from loot boxes: Arthas, Thrall, Rexxar, Cho'gall. Gul'dan-duplicate)
  • 63 Rare Hero skins
  • 13 Epic Hero skins
  • 1 Legendary Hero skin
  • 2 Rare mounts
  • 2 Legendary mounts (Nimbus Cloud, Neon Spectre Phantom)
  • 9 Promotional/Quest mounts
  • 16 Banners (7 Warbanners)
  • 18 Sprays (3 animated)
  • 3 Announcers (1 Legendary Brightwing)
  • 72 Voice Lines (not counting defaults)
  • 36 Emoji Packs (not counting defaults)
  • 15 Portraits (not counting progression/achievement portraits)
  • Plus some extra voice lines, emojis and portraits that I got today.
  • 11 days worth of stimpacks (7+3+1)

Not a bad haul for a F2P game. And my latest loot box, which was a standard box contained a legendary hero, epic skin, rare skin and a common emoji pack.

Edit: I got a second loot box today with a legendary skin, epic skin, rare skin and common. I'm starting to feel like I owe Blizzard money. :P

Reroll is the best thing to happen to loot boxes

Posted: 07 May 2017 02:31 PM PDT

Rerolls have made me actually ENJOY the lootbox system instead of dreading it. Don't want a mount? Reroll. Got only commons? Reroll. Got duplicates? Reroll.

If you don't like what you got, you've got at most 3 chances to try for better/different rewards and gives you more control over the rewards you get, as opposed to being forced to accept whatever you get.

There are many reasons to reroll, and each time you do, you're opening an entirely new lootbox, with a equally fair chance to roll each rarity/reward.

Skin Suggestion: Young Medivh from Hearthstone

Posted: 07 May 2017 07:26 AM PDT

Hey everyone,

I think Medivh needs more skins and which one would be more obvious than his younger non-canon self from Hearthstone's One Night at Karazhan adventure? Honestly, I haven't played the adventure myself as I pretty much suck at Hearthstone (or get frustrated how a casual like me gets steamrolled in PvP matches all the time), but I loved the funky trailer for the adventure.

I think Young Medivh would be awesome together with a new voiceover like he had in Hearthstone.

@Blizzard please display users' full levels rather than 1-2 digit numbers

Posted: 07 May 2017 08:47 PM PDT

While I certainly enjoy the new level system and all of what 2.0 has to offer, I'm not a huge fan of the way players' account levels appear. It's not a huge change, but if you could show a user's entire level rather than merely the last digits, that would be much more clear and easy to comprehend. Thanks!

Because of the Nexus Challenge 2.0, HOTS is now one of my daily played games.

Posted: 07 May 2017 07:43 PM PDT

The first time I played HOTS was back in the very first Nexus Challenge. My first impressions were that this game was very boring and really, REALLY confusing. I ended up having a terrible time (but at least I got my Oni Genji skin!).

Jump forward to Nexus Challenge 2.0, I had a such a great time. I finally understood how the game is played, and instantly became one of my favorites. This game is really FUN. Especially the fact that my main from Overwatch, Lucio, is in the game, it made the game much easier for me and I was able to support my team in fights. Additionally, HOTS is my type of MOBA. Its not too complex with all that card system, but also well-paced where it doesn't feel too slow or goes way too fast.

I am really having a lot of fun in this game and I am really looking forward of where HOTS goes!

Could we please have a megathread for complaints about the map rotation?

Posted: 07 May 2017 02:05 PM PDT

People claim that 6 maps in a rotation is too little variety, But you know what's truly repetitive and getting old? Reading the same complaints about map rotation, in 10 different threads every day.

Some of the most fun I've had with a game

Posted: 07 May 2017 01:44 PM PDT

I'm a long time MOBA player, and even played HotS way back just for fun to try out with some buddies as a drinking game, and we always just played League and Dota when we wanted a "serios" and fun moba experience. I haven't played MOBAs in a few years and just don't have the time anymore with two jobs, however my girlfriend and I decided to give HotS a shot on Friday for the Overwatch skin and we've been having a blast.

I've also had a weird feeling that I haven't felt in at least 6 years. I must have played at least 6 hours straight yesterday, and as I layed down trying to sleep I kept thinking about the game and how much fun I had, and when I woke up early on a Sunday instead of going back to sleep to sleep in, I got right up and decided to play some more. The last time I can remember this happening was when Cataclysm came out for WoW.

It does hurt me a bit to see how much hate this game gets, the mindset and playstyle is just so much more different than the other MOBAs and the matches in HotS are just so much faster and that makes me enjoy it even more. I don't think this game gets nearly enough credit for doing so many good ideas for the genre.

Thank you for being so welcoming!

Posted: 07 May 2017 04:21 PM PDT

I came here from playing overwatch for the dva skin, but am hooked to this game! Everyone one is very welcoming and just friendly overall. I've been playing Li-ming and no one seems to be upset that I've been just well not that good xD. I'm not much for mobas mostly due to the toxic community that is league of legends; so it's a nice chance of pace. So again thank you all for just being awesome. Also I'll take any tips for Li-ming.

Colour clashing on portraits makes seeing player levels a little bit difficult

Posted: 07 May 2017 04:59 AM PDT

Reddit seems to be misinterpreting what I'm talking about, so I'll try and clarify.

THIS IS NOT A DISCUSSION ABOUT THE BORDERS. I agree with whatever your opinion of the borders is, but this thread is about the colour clashing of the number on the portrait itself.

http://imgur.com/LFl9IOq

http://imgur.com/OjwUXm8

I've seen this a lot; My vision is probably about average, and this issue is particularly noticeable on the sketch portraits, but I really struggle to see what someone's player level is sometimes. Even with my face planted into the monitor I'm not sure if Samuro is 22 or 27. Any chance we can have a little colour detection test in there so the player levels will be displayed in a colour that doesn't clash with the background of a portrait?

Allow auto-pairing with Cho'Gall in Quickmatch

Posted: 06 May 2017 09:48 PM PDT

I'm dying to play Cho'Gall more, but the extra effort to find a teammate to invite to a party just to play him puts me off. I seriously don't get how inviting a stranger into a party through the in-game chat is better than just being automatically paired with someone through quickmatch. Sometimes I want to go Gall, but I'm always stuck with Cho. Finding people to play Cho'Gall with in-chat takes me longer than it would take to just pick any other hero and wait for a match.

It sucks because I love Cho'Gall. I want the freedom to play him more.
