How Blizzard screwed people for the Wild Top 64 Tournament

Posted: 22 May 2017 08:24 PM PDT

So last month there was an announcement that top 64 wild on all servers go to some big tournament. This is a quick story on how blizzard screwed us for no communication.

Now at the start of this month, i rang up blizzard trying to get information and after a bit of hassle i was able to get hold of a manager that i talked to and he told me just to get top 64 nd i can put my feet up and they they will worry about the rest.

For some reason blizzard didn't release any information on this until today, the end of the month. http://blizz.ly/WildOpenRules Now they dropped the bomb on us, that you must be part of your own region to compete. keep in mind all NZL / AUS play on US servers but must play be on ASIA. This is after many many many hours of climbing, helping my friends climb to get into the top 10, for a safe spot (i was r3 legend).

Now the problem we all have, is the fact they didn't release NOTHING until the 22nd, how am i meant to know that if i'm from New Zealand OR AUS i must rank up on ASIA because when i first played this game, i was put into the US by default. So i'd assume by playing on the US i could qualify (we all thought we could get it on any server).

I had many friends of mine rank up on all 3 servers, going for top 64, trying to maximize their chances for a spot and i know for a fact at least 10-15 people who have gotten top 64 on the wrong damn server. I even know this one guy who took the whole month off work. Just to get his ranking on the wrong server.

So here i am, 9 days out getting MEMEd on ASIA, until the end of the season and i must do it IN RECORD time because blizzard can't release the information on a tournament until the last week.

Sure you can attack me for being dumb without knowing the INFO. But i mean come on its a $25k prize pool, ofc i'm going to give it my best shot. There's just to much money involved for them to mess it up. Its just an online tournament. So no one can figure out why there's so strict rules on the regions or even why NZ / AUS, now should only play on ASIA. Like dam i coulda been trying to collect cards for it.

This isn't meant to be an attack on blizzard. All we are asking is that the Blizzard release information a lot earlier and communicate it better.

TLDR - SALT

The hunter quest should have cost 0.

Then you wouldn't be an aggro deck that skips turn 1.

I just got a new arsehole few moments ago while playing Reno paladin on wild ladder. This is what happened: http://imgur.com/u4ExMas

Probability of having all those cards and the coin must be pretty damn low.

Appreciation Thread for Blizzard's Weekly Twitch Spotlights

Posted: 22 May 2017 10:04 PM PDT

I'm a new player, played casually up to rank 15 each month but never really considered ranking up. That's why I was super excited when Blizzard decided to spotlight new streamers each week! When I first set out to learn the deeper intricacies of the game, I ended up watching this weird troll who's chat was full of spam and who played some really odd music in the background - not my thing! That discouraged me from learning more about the game. But now that Blizzard is handpicking streamers, I can watch streamers without fear of being trolled again. And boy, is it a change.

From Blizzard's spotlight, I was introduced to ControlTheBoard, JackieChan, and Alliestrasza. ControlTheBoard taught me how to play wild for the first time! I always stuck with standard even though I had a bunch of wild cards from way back when since I was intimidated that I'd get wrecked by P2Wers, but he showed me that there is a bunch of strategy that goes into wild mode, not just money - maybe even more strategy than in standard! JackieChan taught me to not worry about losses when innovating new decks. He always brings out crazy wacky decks on stream, and even though he loses a lot, when he hits on a deck that works, it WORKS. After watching his stream, I started experimenting with my own decks and stopped just netdecking big pros like Trump and Kripp. After watching Alliestrasza, I learned a TON about the game. She always thinks her turn out and always keeps a positive attitude - just like Lifecoach when he used to stream! This week it's NaviOOT, and even though it's just been a day, I'm really liking what I've seen so far. I've never heard of him before, but apparently he's a huge deal in the competitive scene, one of the best players in the game who consistently wins tournaments. Well, it shows. He goes into the games with a detail you wouldn't believe. He was playing freeze mage earlier today, and made a bunch of plays I don't think I could've imagined in a million years. I'll definitely be following him for at least the rest of the week!

So there's my thank you to Blizzard for introducing me to all these great streamers, and here's hoping the spotlight keeps going on! :)

4 Legends in Arena.

Posted: 22 May 2017 05:50 PM PDT

Edit - is there a way to edit the title cause it just became 6 haha

Honestly, this can NOT be normal right. I was shocked at 2 ffs.

Edit - ok am I getting pranked - http://imgur.com/a/n4xUV

Edit 2 - F * * K I N G W H A T - http://imgur.com/a/NGQjs

Edit 3 - Results will be shown here, I'm not the best at arena, averaging around 3 wins. But I will try my best.

0 - 1 . Fought a shaman, didn't draw any of the legendaries. Totally steamrolled me.

1 - 1 . Fought a warlock, They dirty ratted my Kazakus.

2 - 1 . Fought a hunter, accidentally burned my Mind Control. Lyra carried this game. He roped every turn.

2 - 2 . Fought a rogue, I was doing well the first 5 turns, then just lost board control, they had huge taunts and many fledglings.

3 - 2 . Fought a hunter running Dinomancy. He coined Dinomancy turn 1. The only Beast he played was King Mukla. He used Arcane Shot and it wasn't golden. New player I guess.

4 - 2 . Fought a mage, they had 3 glyphs. He conceded after I did shadow visions into un'goro pack for the 2nd time.

4 - 3 . Fought a priest. Was a fair game. No hate. Oh well, this is about how well I usually do in Arena.

Rewards - Dark Iron Dwarf, 60 gold, UnGoro Pack. - The pack contained 4 commons and a rare.

edit - people didnt like how i wrote things

Another Hearthstone Inconsistency

Posted: 22 May 2017 07:46 PM PDT

Why on earth Hungry Crab doesn't glow orange in your hand when there is a murloc on board? While Golakka Crawler glows orange when there's a pirate and Crackling Razormaw does too when you have a beast in play. It kinda upsets me sometimes.

EDIT: A word.

You were the N'zoth Rogue.

I was the Random Mage.

You played N'Zoth twice, I Yogged once.

We somehow ended up with a board state containing two Sylvani, a Kel'Thuzad which switched boards three times, and five total Noggenfoggers. We both Reno'd, and both reached fatigue before my last cards were Antonidas and Roaring Torch.

It was an awesome clusterfuck of a game (all twenty five minutes of it) and I'm sorry that you didn't accept my friend request.

I just wanted to thank you for the best game of Hearthstone I've played all year, if not ever.

Finally hit legend and I am pumped!

Posted: 23 May 2017 05:30 AM PDT

I decided to try and hit legend this month and after almost giving up hope, I finally did it! My highest rank before this month was 3 and that was only last month. Before that it was 7. Won 8 straight to go from rank 2 to legend.

I think the biggest factor for me is that I am really enjoying the game lately as there are so many different decks in the meta. I watch a lot of comps so I built a discover mage from what I saw most people playing. I made a few changes to suit me such as including a volcanic potion, and counter spell and dropping 2 ice barriers. My last change was to swap out Kabal Courier for Kirin Tor Mage. This helped keep tempo with aggro decks whilst still developing a secret. Counter spell was for messing with quest rogue but it's good against everything.

Decklist and proof http://imgur.com/gallery/Xmw9X

Bad matchups are quest rogue, aggro druid/shaman. Worst is jade druid as they develop big guys really fast, plus the huge amounts of amour gain.

Woohoo!!! Don't know anyone who plays so just wanted to share. Also is 1688 the top of legend or is it just the assigned rank based on previous games?
