Is it just me, or is anyone else getting kind of sick of people hating on FO4

Posted: 23 May 2017 05:47 AM PDT

Seriously I get it fallout 4 was a disappointment, but do you have to nitpick at every single little flaw? "The deathclaws are too slow." "The settlement system sucks." "It's not New Vegas." Of course it's not New Vegas, New Vegas was a masterpiece, and there'll probably never be another RPG let alone Fallout game like it. I like all fallout games uniquely for their own reasons, and that includes fallout 4. In my opinion fallout 4 lends the most creativity and imagination then any other fallout. People are complaining about the story, since they don't realize that they're the ones that have to fill it in and fill in the gaps. It's a vague and cleće storyline because it encourages people to create they're own. My opinion on the matter is that fallout 4 was an experiment. Experimenting with different mechanics and gameplay aspects. I enjoyed fallout 4 and so let me enjoy it and don't criticize me for doing so...

New Vegas Spoilers: Does anyone else hate looking at Mr. House or is it just me?

Posted: 23 May 2017 01:34 PM PDT

Something about the pod opening and this 200 year old man coming out disgusts me. I've killed him three times, the first time he caught me by surprise so I talked to him before shooting him in the head, the second time I shot him twice before he had the chance to say anything and just now, I threw a frag grenade, interacted with the terminal and he was dead before the pod even opened. Even then my heart was racing, I just hate the sight of him so much. Does anyone else feel this way? I've never known anyone who has.

I feel like romancing followers in 4 ruins them [discussion]

Posted: 23 May 2017 05:54 AM PDT

The dialogue seems specifically off for each character I've romanced, especially Cait. They talk like characters from a bad dating mod and seem to have a complete change in personality. I've only done this for Preston, Curie, Piper and Cait, and don't plan to do so anymore based on how it's made talking to them so cringey.

Fallout 4 first time playing DLCs with survival/difficulty mods?

Posted: 23 May 2017 02:38 PM PDT

Will I be alright playing the DLCs (Far Harbor, Nuka World) for the first time if I have mods that make the combat more realistic and lethal? I will be doing a realistic survival run. I have played the base game with these mods but this will be my first time playing the DLCs.

What's the best current tabletop Fallout? What're the states of each of the most popular?

Posted: 23 May 2017 02:03 PM PDT

I know about the official tabletop game coming out in November I believe, but what I mean is more along the lines of Fallout PnP, the state of which I'm also a little lost on. Doing some digging through archives didn't yield much useable stuff.

Basically, I wanna play a 5e-esque Fallout tabletop game, which do I use and why? Where can I get them?

[Cosplay Question] Metallic T51b/T60 Power Armour

Posted: 23 May 2017 01:45 PM PDT

I come from Australia, and in QLD Body Armour/Bullet-proof armour is illegal... sadly

My original questions were:

How heavy will a set of to-scale, FO4 T51b power armour be if made of iron?

Is it possible to walk around in a set of such iron armour or just a no go?

When I have my own place and workshop, I may still try to get a permit to own such a set. It has been my lifelong dream.

My apologies if the question sounds silly

Best tribe idea, like The Atom Cats or The Sorrows. Trying to restart Competitions! Top voted Tribe wins the honour of being the first competition winner in just under a year!

Posted: 23 May 2017 01:34 PM PDT

My tribe idea: Tribe- The Chryslus 66 Named after Route 66 and the Chryslus Motors Corporation, this tribe treats pre-war cars and stolen power armour as sacred artifacts, fusing them together in grand displays of post-nuclear engineering and artistry. The tribe hails from different cities and towns along pre-war Route 66 and took their name from the road that led to the formation of their tribe and the pre-war car company whose products they used as shelter from storms and raiders, seeing the cars as god-given blessings of safety. Their fondness for modifying power armour in a ritual mirroring customising lowrider cars stems from how the tribes founders came across a Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel Squadron, dead from a Super Mutant attack. Donning the power armour, the tribe gained the ability to use it through experiential learning and walking in it for the majority of Route 66 until they reached Kingman, Arizona and decided to inhabit the Mojave Wasteland. Predominantly a hispanic tribe they nonetheless have other ethnicities within their ranks. The tribe is fiercely protective of its culture and tells the story of Route 66, or "The Mother Road" through postcards and tourist advertisements of cities along pre-war Route 66 such as St. Louis and Oklahoma City. Strong knowledge of homemade chems such as Smooch and Jet, see them as part of their heritage.

Tribals- All named after 50s concept cars- Le Sabre - Leader of the tribe, hispanic man, named after a GM concept car. One of the only people in the tribe permitted to wear the modified power armour. Corsair - The head of the mechanic sect within the Chryslus 66 Phantom - The head of the drug-manufacturing sect within the Chryslus 66 Debutante - Assistant to Corsair, helps scavenge parts for the armour. Cyclone - The "Jessie" to Phantom's "Heisenberg". Cherry-Bomb - Creator of the majority of the drugs sold by the Chryslus 66. Too volatile and unstable to be leader. Often high, a "druggie DaVinci". The Highwayman - Bouncer, mercenary and guard for the Chryslus 66. Luc Leon - Sets up the meetings to sell the drugs to the Fiends, Khans and NCR. Slick corporate type.

Fallout 4 Mod Troubles [Xbox One]

Posted: 23 May 2017 03:32 PM PDT

Hi all. For the past few days I've experienced absurdly high amounts of freezing and crashing on my Fallout 4, and it's really been irritating me. I noticed that a lot of people have had this issue (>inb4 stop posting this shit, everyone already knows about it) and that it was completely to do with mods. I have a small number of mods but I've already gotten so far with them, I just didn't want to delete them all, so I began experimenting with each one to work out which mod was causing the trouble. Long story short, I identified which mod was causing the freezing, for definite, it being a AWKCR Clothing mod. I really like the mod and its content but with it comes many annoying crashes, some of which are avoidable but catch me eventually when I least expect it, causing me to lose progress. Essentially, without the mod, the game's fine. With the mod, the game is unplayable. However, like aforementioned, I really like the mod and I simply cannot see myself playing Fallout 4 without it. Now that I know this is the mod that's causing trouble, is there a way I can 'fix' this mod in that it will no longer cause crashing? I've tried deleting and re-installing to no avail. I just really like this mod and I don't want to have to play without it. Thanks. tl;dr - i like this mod. mod causes crashy crash. how to fix mod so that it no crash more?

Please Help! I think I deleted my DLC!!

Posted: 23 May 2017 03:15 PM PDT

I am playing Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition on my Xbox 360 and had all the DLC installed. I was about to play The Pitt and heard Point Lookout causes lots of glitches so I deleted Point Lookout from my hard drive. I popped back in the DLC disk and I can't select to install Point Lookout! I'm probably an idiot but any help would be appreciated so much!

Fallout: Friends In Strange Places

Posted: 23 May 2017 08:56 AM PDT

Hi! My name is Hunter and I've always been a huge fan of RPGs (DnD, Pathfinder, etc). When I heard that a tabletop game was coming out, I was stoked! In my excitement I began trying to imagine how it would work. While I think it will be more like Warhammer40k, what with the miniatures and all, I began thinking about how to make a Fallout game closer to that of DnD.

If you're interested, please know that this is a very rough idea, and may not even work out, but it'll be a fun project nonetheless. So far I have the races, a few classes. Classes in general only branch out into two archetypes, but a majority of races have their own archetypes, and factions will also provide their own archetypes for certain classes (for example, if you're with the Institute and you're an Engineer you can build Synths as opposed to the generic robot).

Races (So far):

(Sentient) Deathclaw: I loved the concept of Goris, okay? but to make them statistically balanced, we'll say that time has made the Sentient Deathclaws weaker than their savage cousins.

Ghouls: Ghouls. Immune to rads. If you choose the Glowing option then you are, in fact, healed by rads.

Human (Wastelander): Your generic humans

Human (Vault Dweller): Basically your Half Elves

Super Mutant: Basically Orcs

Superior Mutant: Basically Half Orcs. I made these up. The lore is that somehow, somewhere a Super Mutant wasn't entirely screwed over and was able to have a child. This was the first of many, and was able to think and articulate better than most Super Mutants.

Synths: Choosing between Gen 1, 2, and 3, with various stat changes that come along with them.

Half-Zetans: Basically the Dark Elves

Classes (So far):

Savage: basically Barbarians

Gunslinger: gunslingers

Chemists: creating medicines, poisons, bombs, and even creating life.

Engineers: Robots, terminals, and the secrets to cybernetic enhancements

Soldier: basically Fighters

Atomicist: Roughly a spellcaster? I mena, they don't have spells persay but they would, in my mind, be able to manipulate radioactive stuff. I'm not sure exactly but it's not going to be as crazily complicated as spellcasters in Pathfinder, that's for sure.

Anywho, that's my very rough sketch idea. If you guys have any suggestions, lemme know. I'll try to update this as I move along.

Should I be ashamed because I am scared to play Fallout 3?

Posted: 22 May 2017 08:58 PM PDT

I got Fallout 4 with Fallout 3 as a bonus. I started playing Fallout 3 because that seemed to be the reasonable thing to do. A few moments later, I am stuck in a subway full of feral ghouls and only have a crappy pistol. I quit the game and went on to Fallout 4, which I liked more because of the brighter colors. Should I be ashamed?

Fallout What if: The Radium Girls! (X-post /r/ HistoryAnecdotes)

Posted: 23 May 2017 07:29 AM PDT

Came across some interesting reading about irl Nuclear history:

Nothing seemed beyond radium's benevolent rays. The US Radium Corporation even applied radium paint to watch faces to make them emit a pale greenish glow. By the end of the First World War, glow-in-the-dark watches had found their way on to the wrists of fashionistas across the United States, and the Radium Corporation was doing a roaring trade.

The dial painters at the Corporation's factory in Orange, New Jersey, painted around 250 watch faces a day. Their managers instructed them to be as neat as possible when applying the expensive paint to the watches; they were taught to make the brush tips come to a sharp point with their lips. These were young women, and when they had a break they used to paint their fingernails and streak their hair with the radium paint; one of them even gave herself a spooky smile by covering her teeth.

But by 1924 the Orange dial painters had started to fall ill. Their jawbones were rotting. They lost the ability to walk as their hips dislocated and their ankles cracked. They were constantly tired from low levels of red blood cells. Nine died.

https://www.reddit.com/r/HistoryAnecdotes/comments/6ctxga/the_radium_girls/

Wouldn't it be interesting to see this referenced in a future Fallout game? The last paragraph especially is giving me "ghoulish" vibes. Maybe have a character from the pre-war days who worked with radiation daily for some frivolous product?

Special thanks to /u/sloam1234 for the original post!
