Top of the hat to you Zenimax

Posted: 22 May 2017 07:38 PM PDT

I know not everyone had the same experience but at least for myself, this had to of been one of the smoothest mmorpg launch day of an expansion that I've played. Never got disconnected once, and in fact I logged in and back at least 6 times today without any delay or glitch. So from me to you Zen I applaud you today.

From patch notes

Dark Anchors

Standing still while in combat with a Dark Anchor now causes an an extraplanar charge to gradually accumulate at your location. A charge that has built to critical levels explodes, damaging those who contributed to its growth and significantly reducing their health recovery.

Wow, the new music takes me back...

Posted: 22 May 2017 09:10 PM PDT

I've literally been listening to the music for 20 minutes on the login screen of the Morrowind release. I'm in awe. It is beautiful. It is nostalgic. It is exactly how it should be.

It reminds me of the days when I would play Morrowind on the xbox for hours on end, for months and months straight. My then youngster son wanted to play it too so badly. But he was too young to even read the words. I'd even tell him, "How can you play this? Look, you have to know how to read!" And he'd always be left disappointed. But he watch in awe anyway. We were both deeply captivated...

This week, he interviewed at my company to intern as a software developer. Wow has time flown by.

And now I get to enjoy Morrowind once again...

Now to login and play!

PSA: Templars, please be running Shards for your tanks

Posted: 23 May 2017 01:22 AM PDT

I know this is common knowledge for some, but out of my 10+ Vet 4-mans I did today, over half the Templar healers I ran into weren't running Shards. It's pretty much mandatory to be running them now with the blocking costs doubling. I have 20% reduced cost to block, all the 1h and Shield passives, and Iron Skin, and my Stamina still gets absolutely obliterated.

Now of course, the changes just mean us tanks need to pick and choose our battles in terms of whether we're going to eat the damage or block it, but a lot of PUG tanks (like myself) are used to permablocking to make the healer's life easier, but that doesn't work anymore. Those resources are crucial to a tank being able to mitigate damage and control a fight, and using Shards will make everyone's life much easier.

So Templars, be a pal, and toss down those Shards so we can go back to holding right click.

Can I just say how awesome sauce the new Morrowind music is ?

Posted: 22 May 2017 01:43 PM PDT

I didn't play much of the TES Morrowind game so I don't know if it's inspired from it, but damn it's good.

Sorry if this is a repost

Physical Collector's Edition Question

Posted: 22 May 2017 04:15 PM PDT

I preordered the physical collector's edition from Amazon and sent the information to Zenimax to be included in the early release. I haven't received any of the bonus digital items, which I assume will be activated once I receive the codes inside of the game box. Yet I've seen a few people here post that they've gotten their bonus items even though they haven't received the physical game box yet. So.. have I missed something? Or should I contact Zenimax about this?

Need level brackets in PvP Battlegrounds.

Posted: 22 May 2017 11:12 PM PDT

I got my Warden to 10 and joined BG queue. To my shock there were max level people in the same one. lvl 50 160+ cp with level 10's. I don't care how much scaling there is in the game this is silly. Please make a level bracket system for battlegrounds.

10-20, 21-31, 32-42, 43-49, and a straight 50 queue or at least something a long this line. Couldn't believe it got into release like this. I came back pretty much to play battlegrounds as the main focus and this is very disappointing.

Everything else I played was awesome.

Thank You Designers

Posted: 22 May 2017 08:54 PM PDT

As the title suggests, this is a thank you directed to the designers of Morrowind and ESO as a whole. I do first have to explain myself here. I was very much against getting Morrowind when it was announced that it would not be included in the ESO Plus Sub. It literally made me feel that ESO was going the way of WoW, and ESO is so much better in way to many ways to count. Sadly, I also collect PC games. So this last friday, I caved and bought the collectors edition. I hated myself for it since I didn't want to buy Morrowind in the first place. Some of the changes to passives, champ points, and abilities kind of pissed me off. I even thought about quitting the game before buying Morrowind. Then I chatted with some of the players that have been in game for a very long time, and they essential eased my worries and concerns.

So I bought Morrowind, and hopped into it once I got home from work. I was hesitant and figured to be kind of disappointed due to it being Zos.

I have to say that I was completely surprised by the sheer beauty of Vvardenfell. The placements of the crafting stations is practically perfect...They even put a provisioner station next to all the other stations. The rest of the content, like the quests, delves and other content, not only brings back the nostalgia of playing Morrowind way back when, but also has resparked the completionist in me. I WANT to do all the quests. I WANT to find all the locations and explore all the delves. The first delve I went into I spent more time just exploring it because 1) new enemies to kill, 2) the place was massive, 3) it look extremely gorgeous.

So I would like to thank every single Designer, every Developer for their hard work. For the effort they put in to bring us this gorgeous expansion. For their dedication, to bring us a quality product. For putting up with every persons complaints, overreactions, and just plain bullshit. Thank you. You guys and gals have exceeded expectations. I know that if new content continues to be of this quality, I for one will gladly shell out the funds for the collectors, because its worth it.

Thank you again, you really do deserve it, and I know you don't get told that enough. Thank you. I do truly mean that.

New Trial, New Zone, New Class, No New Dungeon(s)??

Posted: 23 May 2017 02:03 AM PDT

I just realized this. I'm a little annoyed thinking about it, they sold us on this new chapter talk, and jipped us from new Dungeons :|

I get it, you want us to fork over 1500 crowns, or 15 more bucks to buy 2 Dungeons later on in the year, which also probably won't come with our ESO plus....

The Fate of Stamina

Posted: 22 May 2017 05:42 PM PDT

Hello there, friendly neighborhood ranter, sorry for the ominous title. Hope everyone (on PC) is enjoying the Morrowind patch. So far I really like it and just wanted to make a blanket response to what I've been seeing in my guild chats and on reddit to try to open a discussion.

Stamina builds are a hot topic, again and I see many people already posting 'gg stamina still sucks' first day of the patch. I don't think its equal to magic yet by far but this patch brought many great buffs to stamina that I haven't even heard anyone talk about. I only see people scan for that one skill they were hoping got a stamina morph or a specific buff to their pve/pvp build and just assuming stamina is dead because they didn't get exactly what they wanted. "Swarm has no stamina morph so I guess no stamwarden."

This kind of thinking irritates me because when you don't look at what you were given through an open lens you can't theorycraft and decent stamina builds that may just not have been what you expected go undiscovered and stamina stands no chance of being meta if it isn't even objectively evaluated and looked at.

So what am I talking about? Didn't we all just get a sustain morph? Yes but also...

Dodge roll now provides two seconds of cc immunity, mostly pvp related but dodge roll 'the stamina shield' needed some improvements and I like this change for avoiding being locked down as easily by sorcs.

Blade cloak now gives 25% aoe damage reduction instead of 20% a rare case of a widely used skill being buffed.

Caltrops took a size reduction but now stacks finally! It costs less and has more DPS by a large sum making it a potent ranged aoe DoT, in trials its all about DoT stacking so adding another reliable DoT instead of just Endless Hail (which also got 'buffed') brings us a step closer to potent ranged stamina DPS rotations.

Two-handed got a big buff to the DoT on cleave and to its splash damage with basic attacks giving some much needed mob control to the gank wrench.

Bow heavy attacks now fire immediately, this can be good or bad but on the PTS seemed to really ease rotations and return resources faster especially combined with the faster attack speed. Less time heavy attacking = more resources and more time to use skills.

Right now I'm playing a stamina warden and while I see room for improvement it feels leaps and bounds better than what I'm used to playing stamina before so I'm looking forward to interesting discussions on where to go with it even if I won't be taking it for Vet HM Halls.

Side notes: Wild Guardian DOES HAVE AN EFFECT, it does more damage than the magicka morph. Yes it is poorly shown but it was also explained. No cutting dive does not have an effect, yes it should, no that doesn't mean the Warden is useless.
