Advice for somebody returning after playing for the first few months after release? Posted: 23 May 2017 04:54 PM PDT Hi, I just started playing Xbox again with some friends after playing on PC after the initial release. What advice do you guys have for a returning player? Everything seems different and a little overwhelming. So far I have a 42ish monk non hardcore and a hardcore witch doctor around 35. Number of character class combinations in multiplayer games Posted: 23 May 2017 01:55 PM PDT I've calculated the number of possible character class combinations in multiplayer games in D3. For 4 player games in ROS, there are 126 combinations of different character classes. For example, 4 Barbarians, or 3 Barbarians and one Wizard, etc. This figure will increase to 210 after the Necromancer is released. What do the older Diablo 1 and 2 fans think of Diablo 3? Posted: 23 May 2017 02:11 AM PDT Just wanted to spark up a discussion. For the record, I'm an older Diablo fan. I first played Diablo on the playstation and then moved to D2 and LoD when they were first released on the PC. When 3 was first announced I was excited and intrigued. When I first saw screenshots of it I was put off and by the time the whole art drama had blown over I'd pretty much given up all hope. I wasn't impressed when it was released and didn't appreciate the type of game it became, so I held off. I didn't end up playing it until much later when it was released on PS4. I wasn't happy with it at all, and to me, it seemed like it was purposely going out of it's way to insult the older fans. It wasn't until I got to Reaper of Souls expansion that I thought it was even remotely like the older games in terms of tone or style. (Props to the RoS guys, they tried). So yeah, Not a fan personally. I'm curious, is this a generational thing? Was it like that for anyone else or was anyone able to look past it? I can't help but feel that most people accepted it because it was either that or nothing. Edit: Well, this certainly was fun/enlightening. Funnily enough, when I started this I was hoping more people would have more opinions on the story, lore, tone and art. But, crazily, the things I loved the most about the old games that I personally believe are absent from 3, were barely mentioned. I guess most people either didn't care about those things or were able to look past it. I'll quickly set the record straight. I did like the gameplay from 3, they added alot of interesting features and a lot of content over the years. However, that's not what I had a problem with, it was everything else. My opinion was that they should not have named it 'Diablo' because it little to do with them other than, of course, the setting. A fun game? Yes. Diablo? No. I'm glad that most of you guys enjoy this game. I didn't because I couldn't look past these changes. Who knows, maybe Blizzard with ditch Diablo and make 'Nephilim Revolt' some day. Idea Posted: 23 May 2017 05:13 AM PDT we live in an age and time now where Diablo 1 has run its course in terms of being a financial gain for Blizzard. And in terms of technology the following should be very easily achieved I think blizz should convert and host the full Diablo 1 game as a browser game. it could even be done by hosting a virtual machine online running the client I believe with proper support and its super low requirements it would gather a following of old school and casual lunch time gamers and even a multiplayer following. they should also increase the max players cap, imagine playing diablo 1 online in your browser with 15 others all venturing down to the depths of hell in your lunch break like it was 1999! submitted by /u/Conrad_noble [link] [comments]
