[BoTW] [SPOILERS] Zelda's Lullaby in Hyrule Castle

Posted: 05 Apr 2017 05:34 AM PDT

Yesterday, while fighting Calamity Ganon a 2nd time, I found what I believe to be an easter egg in the Sanctum of Hyrule Castle. (Where the big heart thing is.)

Location in Sanctum: http://imgur.com/LFbISOv

Close-up shot: http://imgur.com/5jZ5rI5

As you can see, around the triforce is Zelda's Lullaby as it appears in Ocarina of Time. This was something I found interesting that I wanted to share.

Edit: I originally posted this in r/Breath_of_the_Wild but I didn't want you guys to miss out.

[BotW][Spoiler]While fighting Ganon, I notice something amazing about his past and true existence

Posted: 05 Apr 2017 07:40 AM PDT

According to the ingame description

It's been called many names, from "Great King of Evil" to "Calamity." Hibernating within a cocoon, it attempted to regenerate a physical form after Link awoke but was forced to confront him in an incomplete state

I just noticed something interesting about Ganon

For one, he is the Ganon from Oot, not a reincarnation. He is literally called "Great King of Evil" meaning that this game is on the Adult timeline OR the Downfall timeline, as he didn't have that title on the Child Timeline.

Second, when capturing the castle and becoming a cocoon, Ganon attempts to revert back to his Gerudo form. Zelda, by getting captured, managed to keep him from becoming Ganondorf again. His whole attempt to infect the Guardians and the Divine Beast was both to safeguard himself from getting sealed and to buy some time to become human again. On his human form, he is a little more dangerous than his beast/ethereal form. He is shown to be more cunning, less brutal but holds equal to more control on his power, which makes him a more big of a threat

On his battle, you manage to see him basically trying to become physical again but only managed to get Guardian elements to become physical. Hence the words from Zelda

Given up his reincarnation

This doesn't mean he is not going to appear again. He gave up trying to become Ganondorf and went full beast form, trying to take down Link.

TL;DR Ganon is the same as the one from Oot and is trying to revert back to Ganondorf by the time he conquers the castle but it is stopped by Zelda

[botw] [art] What my 6 year old drew after watching me play

Posted: 05 Apr 2017 08:31 AM PDT

was anyone else like me and were completely surprised to find out Sheik was actually Zelda the first time they played OOT ?

Posted: 05 Apr 2017 04:08 AM PDT

In my defence , I was only 7 but I recall being completely blown away and it even more crazy about the game that they could have such a greAt plot twist . I wish I could erase my memory and play it again and see if I'd feel the same way today as an adult .

[BOTW] One of the most empowering feelings in a video game

Posted: 04 Apr 2017 05:31 PM PDT

I remember very early on in my playthrough when I first encountered a bokoblin-filled skull outpost. I had played for maybe 10 hours when I found one with blue and black bokoblins, and no matter how hard I tried, I could never beat the 10-15 sized group. My level 15 attack weapons couldn't dent their forces. I'm always for beating a challenge, and when I just physically couldn't, it felt a little frustrating.

Fast forward to 80 or more hours played, and I'm walking through the snowy mountains around the Rito village, and I find yet another bokoblin cave, filled with black and silver bokoblins. I nonchalantly take out a level 38 attack claymore and decide to do some crowd-control with Urbosa's fury (I haven't really used it much).

Instantly vaporize all of them.

Feel like a god of destruction.

I love this game.

[BotW]The amount of modding potential this game has is staggering and it's driving me nuts.

Posted: 05 Apr 2017 05:14 AM PDT

I know there's no realistic chance of modding tools being released but oh my god I need to vent about how perfect this game is as a candidate for mods.

I literally spent hundreds of hours tinkering with mods to turn my Skyrim into something that I thought was pretty close to the ultimate hardcore fantasy survival experience and then along comes BotW and suddenly I can see how limited a canvas Skyrim really is.

Those of you who use mods like Frostfall, Hunterborn, RND and Requiem probably know exactly what I'm getting at, but even the ability just to tweak a few variables here and would go such a long towards turning BotW into the hardcore, immersive experience that I crave.

Sure worrying about death by starvation or hypothermia isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea but that's what makes mods so damn good. Big budget games like Skyrim or BotW have to have broad appeal to be successful, but with mods they can also have niche appeal for survival/immersion/realism nerds like myself.

[BOTW] Infinite Arrows, No Pain.

Posted: 04 Apr 2017 10:19 PM PDT

As the title suggests I was playing BoTW today collecting arrows in mounted enemy hotspots like everybody else, when I stumbled on something. Instead of running around collecting arrows and taking hits, if you put the camera directly above links head looking down no projectiles will hurt you... at all... in the game... anywhere. I've collected over 500 arrows without a single hit!

[BoTW] [SPOILERS] Just something small I noticed with Sidon....

Posted: 04 Apr 2017 09:45 AM PDT

After you beat Ruta, he does only two things: At night, he stares at a statue of his sister, and during the day he stares at Ruta, where his sister's soul is.

Basically, Sidon really misses Mipha. I wish they dove more into his character and more into his thoughts and feelings about his own situation. They do slightly.... ish, but man there has got to be so much more there.
