[BoTW] GUIDE: Fastest Dragon Horn Farming - 3 PER MINUTE - (54,000 Rupees/Hour)

Posted: 02 Apr 2017 12:06 PM PDT

GUIDE: Fastest Dragon Horn Farming - 3 PER MINUTE - (54,000 Rupees/Hour)

COME GET YOUR DRAGON HORNS! THE MIRACLE 300 RUPEE, 30 MINUTE DURATION INGREDIENT! COME GET YOUR DRAGON HORNS! RIGHT NOW AT AN ALL TIME LOW PRICE OF 3 PER MINUTE! COME GET YOUR DRAGON HORNS!

VIDEO GUIDE: Zelda: Breath of the Wild - FASTEST DRAGON HORN FARMING (3 Per Minute!)

Dragon Horns are acquired by hitting the Horns of any of the Dragons in Breath of the Wild with an arrow. They sell for 300 Rupees each, and when added to a recipe they extend the duration of the dish's effects to 30 minutes. Both REALLY good things for us.

The only problem is they have been hard to come by. UNTIL NOW! The farming method below allows you to farm 3 Dragon Horns per minute, rain or shine, for as long as you want.

Let's put this into perspective:

3 Dragon Horns / Minute = 180 Dragon Horns / Hour

1 Dragon Horn = 300 Rupees

180 Dragon Horns @ 300 Rupees a piece = 54,000

THIS METHOD YIELDS 54,000 RUPEES / HOUR

Prep / Requirements:

There are a few items you will need in order for this method to work. Please gather & do the following before trying to farm.

  1. Gather up some wood.
    • You will need a bundle of wood for this method.
    • Just bomb some trees twice instead of chopping them down with a weapon.
  2. Acquire a fire weapon
    • My suggestion is to pick up the Great Flameblade at the Ancient Tree Stump, West of the Central Tower. It respawns every Blood Moon and lasts a long time if you're just relighting fires. Check out THIS video to find out where specifically.
  3. Acquire a Long-Range Single-Shot Bow
    • Examples of this bow architype are the: Golden Bow, Twilight Bow, Ancient Bow, & Phrenic Bow
    • My suggestion is to pick up the Golden Bow next to the Gerudo Tower. It respawns every Blood Moon and has a nice zoom to really pinpoint where you are aiming. Check out THIS video to find out where specifically.
  4. Pray at the Spring of Courage
    • LOCATION: GIF Located North of the Faron region, between Popla Foothills and Dracozu Lake.
    • YOU ONLY NEED TO FIND AND PRAY AT THIS SHRINE ONCE. EVER.
    • YOU DON'T EVEN NEED TO ACTIVATE THE SPRING BY OFFERING A SCALE. JUST "PRAY" ONCE.
    • Praying at this Spring will guarantee our Dragon spawns at the same time and same location every day. THIS IS THE KEY POINT TO THE FARMING METHOD.

Dragon Horn Farming Method:

We will be farming the Dragon Farosh. At 5:00 AM every day, Farosh spawns in the Riola Spring, in the Northern part of the Faron Region. That just so happens to be the time sitting at a campfire until "Morning" brings you to. We are going to exploit the heck out of this.

Another mechanic we are going to exploit is the fact that Dragon Parts will stay in your world, after they have hit the ground, even if you sit at a fire. This means we don't have to pick up every Dragon Horn that falls off Farosh.

The last factor we need to consider is how can me make this farming method repeatable and not prone to environmental or other variables that would stop our rhythm. For us, this means we need to find a place where we can farm rain or shine and a way where we can guarantee we get a horn each and every time. The way we do this is by utilizing a cave directly to the North of the Riola Spring where we can always light a campfire, and using the slow-mo in-air bow shooting technique to precisely aim where we will hit the Dragon (guaranteeing we get a Horn).

Farming Steps:

A COMPLETE GIF OF FARMING IN ACTION: GIF

  1. Head to the cave North of Riola Spring (The spawn point of Farosh)
  2. Start a campfire (Use of a flame weapon is required for this method)
  3. Sit at the fire until morning (Farosh spawns at 5:00 AM every day)
  4. As soon as you can move, relight your fire
  5. Use the updraft of your fire to paraglide upward
  6. Pull out your bow and enter slow-mo
  7. Use the slow-mo to your advantage and hit Farosh's horn directly in front of you as he spawns
  8. Wait until the Horn hits the ground
  9. Immediately sit at your fire again until morning
  10. Repeat steps 4-9
  11. PROFIT!

Steps 4-9 can be accomplished 3 times in about 1 minute. This means the yield for this farming method is 3 Dragon Horns per Minute.

Using Your Horns:

Adding a Dragon Horn to any recipe ensures the duration of the dish/elixir is 30 Minutes. This is the max duration in the game.

You can sell Dragon Horns for 300 Rupees a piece. I believe, as of the time of this post, this is the fastest and most efficient Rupee farming technique. 54,000 Rupees in an hour is insane.

[PH Spoilers] TIL Phantom Hourglass is non-linear

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 06:59 AM PDT

The fourth and fifth dungeons can be done in either order, and you never NEED the bombchus in the temple of the ocean king, so the sixth dungeon can be done before the fourth but not the fifth.

Therefore, the possible orders are:

4-5-6

5-4-6

5-6-4

Just something interesting.

[BOTW][SPOILERS] What is your favorite tower-region in Breath of the Wild?

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 04:59 AM PDT

Mine is Akkala. The fall foliage and memorable landmarks make Akkala my favorite region. Not only is it gorgeous, but it's kind of tucked away behind Death Mountain and Zora's Domain, making it kind of a hidden paradise.

What is your favorite region of Hyrule?

[BoTW] How to Chop Down a Tree: Why BotW has the greatest 'tutorial' of all time.

Posted: 02 Apr 2017 06:19 PM PDT

I've never played a game before.

I have acquired an axe from a camp on my way to find the shrines in the opening area.

I go and see the old man chopping down a tree. From this point I can make the logical connection

"Hey I can chop down trees!"

Now maybe I'm really stupid and don't realize that. The game even covers that scenario where you can (entirely optionally the guy doesn't come up to you and say "WE NEED THIS TREE DOWN STAT HURRY") talk to him ask "What are you doing?" And then he'll tell you about fucking chopping down trees and ask for your help. So you chop down the tree and now you got some wood and he says thanks and goes on his way.

But right next to him is 3 more trees (it's important there are 3 of them so you can practice if you fuck one up) next to a cliff with a tree on the other side and WITHOUT ANY HELP FROM THE GAME you make the logical connection "I can chop down this tree and cross this gap" And even if you fuck up you can still try 2 more times!

Every part of the tutorial is like this it is literally perfect. It caters to every single player imaginable showing exactly what you need to do but letting you make the connections in your head.

I'm not adding anything else someone else hasn't said most likely but I feel like I should point it out and wanted to get it off my chest.

[BotW] I'd pay another $60 for the next Zelda game to just be DLC onto this world.

Posted: 02 Apr 2017 07:24 PM PDT

This world is amazing and I've put lots of time in.

Thinking about it a bit as i was playing, I feel like they could easily add in 6-8 dungeons to this existing world, add a new big bad, and it be an amazing sequel. I'd no question pay for every bit of DLC along this lines..

It would be cool if the threats were balanced better. I was more afraid of Hinox's and Lynels than Ganon.

[BOTW] Some ideas I'd like to share about the upcoming Hardmode DLC

Posted: 03 Apr 2017 04:43 AM PDT

I certainly hope Nintendo grants us more in this DLC than a simple 'enemy damage-up' - 'less items' -version of the game.

If you've played through the game, you'll know that the enemies have a color ranking system (red, blue, black, white, silver - from easiest to hardest)

I think they should introduce a 6th tier enemy in the game (gold?) which could have new movesets or drastically improved agility. Maybe these enemies could hold rare hardmode-only weapons and shields? maybe they drop new materials! which could introduce a fifth-star armor upgrade path in the game??

Anyways, please share with me your ideas for the DLC!

[BoTW] I think this game gives a good reason as to why Hyrule is constantly stuck in medieval stasis

Posted: 02 Apr 2017 04:45 PM PDT

It's clear in this game that Calamity Ganon has destroyed hyrule, though you have to remember this sort of thing occurs in a cycle of destruction and rebirth.

I think the game is trying to show us that hyrule (at least in this game's timeline and thedecline timelines) can never come out of medieval stasis because of this cycle of good and evil battling each other causes civilization to fall and rebuild only to fall again and rebuild again and so on, thus preventing hyrule from ever truly developing.

simply put, there will never be a modern hyrule, at least for the decline timeline, because it will constantly be destroyed and rebuilt.

[BoTW][Spoilers] My thoughts and comments about Breath of the Wild (First Review)

[LoZ] Got my perfect first tattoo and thought I'd upload to our official subreddit!

Posted: 02 Apr 2017 01:46 PM PDT

I posted to r/horizon for April Fools and r/zeldatattoos but would love u/bdevx to get the credit here in the main subreddit for his excellent design! Here is the tattoo on my arm on the same day it was done and here is his original painting before he so generously altered it for me to get tattooed with!

The main changes he made for me was making it solid black (I didn't want my first tattoo to be colourful, personal preference) and adding a reference to WW since I also loved that game but the OP wasn't fond of it himself.

The tattoo is an amalgamation of the 5 main 3D Zelda games that I grew up loving. Here's the references in no particular order.

The right eye (facing the tattoo) is a reference to Twilight Princess and the Twilight realm, but I also really liked that it looked a little like one of the "Unown" from the old pokemon games that I also loved back in the day. Nice little unintentional easter egg to another of Nintendo's great franchises!

The left eye is the Lens of Truth from OOT, fairly self-explanatory really.

The bulk of the tattoo itself is Majora's Mask from, you guessed it, MM. The detail is probably my favourite part.

The "Wing" on the left side is from SS, but has reference in many of the games such as on the Hylian shield or the royal crest.

Finally, the WW baton used to control the wind was added behind the left eye, and ended up fitting in perfectly I think.

There was a couple references I considered but left out, maybe I'll add them later. Namely the Master Sword and the Tri-Force. There's also no reference to BotW, I don't really know what I'd add for that, but maybe one day. It's difficult to add more without cluttering it and detracting from the tattoo as a whole. There's not really much real-estate to work with now.

Anyway, hope you guys like it and please give the artist, u/bdevx, some love for his fantastic bringing together of these games.

Edit: fixed some typos and stuff. :)
