Another Skyrim Beginning Theory Posted: 28 Apr 2017 03:47 AM PDT I just started another play through of Skyrim recently with the well known Opening Scene Overhaul mod that added cut content from the vanilla opening. This left me wondering how did we exactly get caught? Well, after doing some research and reading I found a detailed map -credit goes to Nilanius on Mod Nexus forums- of the route the cart actually took during the intro, and the theoretical route it took from Darkwater Crossing to Helgen. Obviously there's a few inconsistencies at the beginning albeit done on purpose so you can form you're own backstory. From what I can tell you weren't suppose to be on the cart to begin with. This is supported if you follow Hadvar out of Helgen and basically talk to him. With the new dialogue added to Ralof it's clear the Imperials just grabbed you. Now where they grabbed you is the real question? While I can't tell you exactly where he or she was grabbed it's probably not the border. Lets just consider you were picked up at Darkwater Crossing there's no way for the Imperials or Ralof to know you crossed the boarder illegally if there's such a thing. The only known border entrance not having to go over mountains is circled on the map. Also side note; you can see the White Gold Tower from that entrance if you tlc through the gates and follow the path down towards Cyrodiil. So, here's another possibility you weren't suppose to go to Helgen. If the Imperials did in fact take the red line towards Helgen than south towards Cyrodiil why make a U Turn? Hence the blue line drawn; the actual road and route the intro takes. A simple answer is Tullius didn't want to have a trial in Cyrodiil because the Thalmor would take custody of Ulfric. If you listen closely to the reconstructed dialogue between Tullius and Elenwen she tries to take custody of the prisoners, and we all know she would of destroyed Helgen to free Ulfric if the Dragon didn't stop by. As for you being executed there was to be no witnesses that's why the Imperial Captain was overzealous on you being executed. Tullius likely was disobeying orders not going to Cyrodiil with Ulfric and the other prisoners including you. Hard to say at this point but doesn't really make much sense why they would take the route they did if they came from Darkwater Crossing. Also the likely reason you're in prisoner type clothes is you were taken to a temporally layover prison such as Fort Neugrad before proceeding to Cyrodiil - helgen. Just some fun thoughts that came into my head. I did find a similar cart at Fort Neugrad to the ones you ride in. Keep in mind I know they did the vanilla intro the way they did to keep you in the dark and not to overwhelm you with current events at the start. But, given the new dialogue I discovered just makes you wonder. But, pretty much the death penalty for being somewhere at the right time apparently haha. [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Apr 2017 02:27 AM PDT I was going to get my lock picking to 100 so I can get the unbreakable lock picks perk. Then I could return the Skelton key and get the achievement. When I could of just save the game complete th quest and reload the save and use the extra perk on something else. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Apr 2017 05:09 AM PDT Hi! So, I'm doing my first run with this game and one of the main quests brought me to those ruins. The problem is that in a certain point there are 2 Dwemer Spheres that spawn from the wall and I can't kill them, I deal like no demage to them, while them 2shot me. My build it's a stealth/thief one, so I'm maxing out 1handed and archery. Hope someone could suggest me what to do, cause I'm a bit noob about the game. Anyway here's my skill trees for now: https://i.imgur.com/fvC4amW.png and this is the demage I deal to them with 1 bow shot: https://i.imgur.com/NSrC3jv.jpg For anyone interested I'm playing the SE on pc and I'm using the unofficial patch and few other graphic mods. How I manage modding on a standard run-of-the-mill laptop Posted: 28 Apr 2017 05:37 AM PDT I have a fairly basic, run of the mill, bought in a shop laptop that I play Skyrim (Oldrim) on. I've been able to mod it a bit, not nearly as much as I'd like but thought I'd share what I have. Playing on a crappy laptop or pc doesn't mean you can't mod, you just have be thoughtful about what you want and make sure to read all the mod descriptions to be sure your rig can handle it and mods aren't going to clash! I use Nexus Mod Manager, LOOT and TES5Edit to ensure it runs clean. Most of my mods are game play with some retexture mods and a few graphic ones. I have to play on low graphic settings anyway so there was no point using up memory on them. I recently tried installing a few more mods, Touring Carriages, Alternate Start and Interesting NPCS but that broke my game so I had to go back to playing without them. They are on my wishlist if I ever had a rig capable enough! I would also love an ENB and mods like Climates of Tamriel or Vivid Weathers but I tried installing some of these when I first got the laptop and that just wasn't working for me. I'd love Civil War Overhaul and Endereal too. Some more combat mods would be cool too. Anyway, these are the mods I'm currently running on my laptop (not counting patches for DLCs). I might try to install a few more, Inigo for one and see how I get on. Vanilla Skyrim is awesome but I really enjoy how modding can make the game so personal. This is how my game looks with these mods on this laptop Specs: *HP 17-x062sA. *Windows 10 *Intel® Core™ i5-6200U Processor *RAM: 8 GB / Storage: 1 TB HDD *Graphics: AMD Radeon R7 M440 Bellyaches HD Dragon Replacer Pack Better Stealth AI for Followers Elaborate Textiles - NPC Clothing Retexture Immersive College of Winterhold JK's Skyrim, Major Cities Only No NPC Greetings (Reduced Distance) Skysight - Simply Bigger Trees [link] [comments]
Gauging interest in a free form narrated (LAL) playthough. Posted: 28 Apr 2017 03:20 AM PDT A question. I'm thinking of doing a weekly-ish running commentary of my game, largely to get better at writing, it must be said, and I may pull in references from here and there, though essentially I'll be doing an in-person narrative of a live game. As in, I'll be using the game and where it goes, with no overriding narrative in mind, as the basis for an ongoing story, with me adding narrative to the holes the game leaves space for. The Character I'm playing will be a non-Dragonborn starting out in Breezehome, (LAL) a morally dubious character, leaving space for a Thieves/DB run, he's looking to make money, and he doesn't much care how he comes by it, it's going to be a slow day by day affair without much in the way of overt game mechanic, but I'm fully modded, and have lots to do. An example: Other than that it's been a good couple of days, bagged a couple of wolves, and two/three elk. I'm getting better at sneaking & harvesting it seems. Though Elk's still take me by surprise too often, I'll have to be ready so as not to lose the shot. I also came across a couple of Falkreath Militia that we're dead by the side of the road near the Western Watchtower late evening. So I took their gear. Later a fight broke out by Whiterun stables on the way back, a cry went out, and three Imperials died, a Captain, (in full plate) an archer, and a soldier. Looked like magic, no idea why. So I waited for the fuss to die down and people to disperse, then looted them for gear too. Handed most of it to Sofia, I guess we'll divvy it up and dole it out next time we're in WarMaidens, sell what remains. Though I do like Sofia in fur. Vilja still won't talk to me. I guess she's sulking, other than that she seems happy enough to tag along. We appear to be approaching some kind of routine. Sofia is usually up for a little fun in the morning, then we get some food. Later we wander out to WarMaidens, then Belethor's to sell stuff, (though yesterday I did find a travelling merchant on the road at night, sold my kill to him.) Then we go out for the rest of the day, hunting in the plains around Whiterun. There's an old fort out past the Western Watchtower that appears to be lit up and occupied. Though they keep to themselves and don't bother us when we get close. It takes a while to field dress and butcher an elk, which means we often get back after dark. If it's late we go to sleep, but early enough and we can go out to the Drunken Huntsman, it's a good place for hunters, they serve beer & food and they've got a pretty dancing girl there. She has a sister in jail in Solitude, apparently. She says she needs help, gave me a note, but I'm a lover not a fighter. Perhaps if I ever get out that way, it's a long way to go, and I don't really want to get involved with the Imperials. Other than that, Skulvar and his son turn up, and he likes to drink too. We seem to be getting acquainted, might be able to get a better price on a horse when the time comes. Though given the price of horses, I may be better off taking a dead man's steed if ever I find one. I know Sofia already has a horse at the stables. After that it's home to sleep once we've had our fill, Sofia certainly likes to drink, I'll say that for her, she makes for great company all round really. Funny too. So that's the routine, so far, lazy mornings, then business, hunting, a few beers then stagger home to bed. Rinse and repeat. The nest egg is growing we've over 1000 Septims now, and we get to sell the looted spoils tomorrow, should net us a decent amount of coin. The war has been good for us so far. It's early days yet, and the format may change a bit, I was looking for some poetry this morning for instance. So, how much interest would there be in a curated RP walkthrough of a non-dragonborn (LAL) Game? [link] [comments]
