I made improved cow and chicken models using OptiFine's custom entity models

Here's the result. The cow heads have been entirely revamped and I gave chickens a smaller beak and 3D legs. It was made using Cubik Studio.

new to servers, i have a few questions

Posted: 28 Apr 2017 03:42 PM PDT

Sup, I have been playing minecraft for a long time but I never got involved in playing in servers. I'm looking for a server that is free and that is basically vanilla minecraft survival but with other people and no griefing/allows you to claim land.

I went looking for a server on the mc servers subreddit but I'm not sure I like the one I'm in, it has restrictions like they will make your passive mobs disappear (due to lag, but I think those who donate get to have their mobs back...), they've broken fish farms, they sort of want you to pay for certain important items that you need to in order to advance in the game and tbh I understand that servers have costs but I don't want to pay. If I have to pay I'd rather play realms I think, though I never even tried it but I'd prefer to give my money to Mojang... But I digress.

Basically I'd really appreciate if you could give me some advice as to what to expect from free servers and also what are the typical rules, for example is it usual to remove passive mobs? Does naming them prevent that? Do villagers get removed as well? if anyone has a link to a guide or something like that that'd be cool. Sorry if my questions are annoying/stupid but I can't seem to find this information.

TIL: Glazed terracotta can be pushed by slimeblocks

Posted: 28 Apr 2017 11:53 AM PDT

So, i was playing arround with glazed terracota and realised that if u push terracota using a sticky piston and a slime block in some positions u can push the terracotta back. Only dont push if the terracotta isnt in the same axis as the piston

Btw, was in the latest snapshot

I have a really big base but it doesn't do much, what are some things I can build to make it functional?

Making a boat go uphill. (New discovery?)

Posted: 28 Apr 2017 07:25 PM PDT

So I was messing around with ice boats, and I tried to make little drop shaft where you'd go under a water stream and it would drop you down through a layer of signs without kicking you out of the boat. I was surprised when it went up a block instead. Here's a quick mockup of how it works. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y17/Crav/boat%20stairs%201.png

A little testing later and I discovered you can chain them together to make "Boat stairs." Not horribly practical, but I've had a lot of fun using them to add uphill sections to ice boat racetracks.
