Posted: 05 Feb 2017 03:50 AM PST After defeating her in the Nighthold, for the last time it is shown that Elisande didn't hate Thalyssra or the Nightfallen, she simply disagreed with them on the way of how it is best to handle the Legion situation - and that disagreement caused a civil war while they were facing such a dire threat. She didn't sympathize with the Legion, she agreed on having them because it needed to be done in order to not be annihilated by them. In a perfect scenario Elisande would have wanted to defeat the Legion, not to let them into Suramar, and not to send Thalyssra and everyone else into exile, but she didn't believe that was possible - that's why she didn't allow Thalyssra or anyone else oppose her while accepting the Legion's offer and send Melandrus to assassinate her. It really made me feel more pity rather than anger for Elisande for her being put into such a difficult position. She is not a generic character that screams "I AM EVIL FEAR ME BLAHABLAH", her motivations are simple and she is facing certain dilemmas, her decisions have their consequences, but in the end she is willing to admit that she might have been wrong and after her defeat she wishes her best upon the heroes - because all she cared all along was Suramar and the Nightborne. An anecdote from a roleplaying server Posted: 05 Feb 2017 08:20 AM PST Do you sometimes have the most random memories come up at the most random times? I was reminded of this, somehow, while cycling today. Now, this was in vanilla Wow, on a RP-PVP server in the EU. Both are very important distinctions to the story, because apparently before TBC, lasers hadn't been mainstream yet. There was this guild, 'Laser Beam Pew Pew', which consisted of a bunch of smartasses, who trolled around lots, also on the realmforum. The debate started that their name wasn't roleplayfull enough, and because half the server kinda hated these smartasses, people threw in arguments to persuade the GM's. Some even named the guildname offensive, because of lasers used in cancer treatment. The GM's gave in, but instead of allowing the smartasses to come up with a new guildname, they just made their name a lot more roleplayingish, so from that day 'Laser Beam Pew Pew' was known as 'Sword Attack Cleng Cleng'. It was pretty wholesome, even the guild themselves loved it. [link] [comments] | ||

Gerald Abernathy: Coincidence or creepy easter egg? Posted: 05 Feb 2017 09:17 AM PST So, I was leveling up my forsaken today and while returning to Undercity I stumbled upon this group of NPCs. It seemed odd to me: there were three undead, two females and a male, and a blindfolded human female. The male undead was named Gerald Abernathy. I had a few thoughts about what an undead could be doing with a blindfolded woman, so I googled his name in order to find his wiki page and find out their story, but the first results were not related to WoW. Instead, I found out about this criminal of the same name that was found guilty of several crimes. One of his victims, Wendy Stark, was raped and murdered by Gerald. Also, one article mentions that "She was tall and blonde, just the type of victim Gerald Abernathy was searching for.". This description kind of fits Theresa, Gerald's mindslave. Also, in some pictures Wendy looks quite a lot like Theresa, with blonde short hair. I was expecting to find some of this stuff on the Trivia section for the Gerald Abernathy NPC page, but it did not mention anything about this. Do you think this is a coincidence or an unnerving easter egg? I, for one, am not sure. [link] [comments] |
