As we're amping up for the BoTW release we added a big group of mods over the weekend.

Posted: 06 Feb 2017 08:42 AM PST

Say hi to them all. waves at the new mods

We added 14 mods to help keep /r/zelda in tip top shape and enforce our posting rules see 👀 in the sidebar.

Like we previously mentioned we are enforcing a spoiler policy 🚫 until April 1 about BoTW. That means your titles have to be vague and comments need spoiler tags. You can read more about that in this thread. The mod team is adjusting and discussing internally how best to moderate it as well.

We're also working on updating the design of /r/Zelda before the release so look out for that. ⭐ We're also looking to add more flair too.

If you have any general feedback, hopes, dreams, etc about the direction of this sub please feel free to leave a comment below. ⬇️️ You can read why we have the rules we do in the past surveys in the sidebar as well. ➡️️ If you see anything breaking the sidebar rules please hit 🔨 that report button.

What was the hardest part about the water temple in Ocarina of Time for you?

Posted: 06 Feb 2017 03:07 AM PST

The center column block on the inside rising with the water to reveal that hidden room.

Took me like 2 months to find. Played every day.

Also sorry I missed Sunday

How many of you completed every dungeon up till turtle rock, reached Trinexx, the abomination of a turtle before realising that you needed the ice rod to defeat it?

[SPOILERS]Some thoughts on BoTW's master sword

Posted: 06 Feb 2017 01:01 AM PST

*Put the spoilers up because I might be right. But lets clarify this is a theory.

I've been watching the trailers over and over and over and ...... you get my point (Excitement 3 weeks to go I'm dying here). However I've been racking my brain to how the master sword could get damaged in the first place. Timeline aside. I think I've clicked to it though.

The most recent trailer we can pretty much gather that link is wounded trying to defend zelda to which she saves him from the guardians. He wakes up in the shrine of resurrection being the other main clue there. So I've been thinking what could possibly damage the master sword. Regardless of the timeline it can't be the age. It has been drained of power in the past but still endured. So I had a good think and I think clicked to it. I was watching the gameplay footage again the other day and One line caught me that I just glanced over before. "Link you are the light". After some thought on this , I started thinking what if when Link was fatally wounded to save him they drained the master swords essence into him? This would turn the master sword into well just an ordinary blade. In the 100 years that passed the blade would rust and damage like any other blade.

Which leads me to another theory on that alternate ending that you can get if "certain criteria are met" What if that criteria is returning the essence of the master sword from Link to the sword. This would make a lot of sense because we know already you can go straight to the last boss and finish the game. So that would mean the master sword is not essential. My new theory is that Link is sent out to the races to recruit their help on assaulting hyrule castle. It's perfectly safe to do this and continue. But it is now my believe that you need to restore all of links memories to be able to restore the master sword and only then can the true ending where you properly destroy Ganon at the end.

Thoughts ?

  • Edit Meant to also make the point that the master sword is now called the Master Sword of Ressurection as is the name in the special edition

Guide to Breath of the Wild when it comes out.

Posted: 05 Feb 2017 01:11 PM PST

1) Have good headphones to feel fully immersed

2) Have a comfortable chair because you wont be moving for days

3) have a good TV

4) Throw away your phone so you have no distractions

5) Have snacks, meals that can last you for a week.

6) Wear a diaper so you dont have to poo or pee

7) Do not shower because it will ruin your immersion

8) Board up your windows because glare will ruin your vision.

Hope that helps. Have fun gaming
