Please introduce a form of Crit-Immunity to fill the void of Celestial Legion Helm.

Posted: 04 Feb 2017 07:09 PM PST

Now obvious it does not need to be nearly as bloated as Celestial Legion Helm was (90 Physical Prots, 60-100 Power, and crit immunity for 2250 come on Hirez what the hell were you thinking) but I do think we need a direct counter to critical strikes back. Wind Demon and Poison Star both received buffs meanwhile Celestial Legion Helm got the ever-living viability nerfed out of it with a terrible rework into a healer-support item that no one will ever buy over Lotus Crown.

How to build a burst mage in Season 4

Posted: 04 Feb 2017 04:13 PM PST

One of my friends was having trouble in mid the other day, so I was compiling a build guide to help him out, and so I decided I would share it to you good people on Reddit. Don't take this for 100% fact, this is just from lots of playtesting and theorycrafting. Also, the tips and suggestions in this guide are more so for the standard mage, not for adc's like Sol and Chronos or bruisers like Hades, Zhong Kui, and the healer trio.

Starter Items Sands of Time > Vampiric Shroud > Soul Stone

Sands of Time is the most useful because it provides mana regen and cdr for only 800 gold. Vampiric Shroud is a safer option since it provides both health and mana regen, but I'd recommend getting Vamp Shroud on Anubis regardless since it provides lifesteal for his passive. Soul Stone is a pure damage starter item, and must be paired with a Restored Artifact to maintain some form of mana regen.

Boots Shoes of the Magi should be the standard pick up; lots of power and pen for 1600 gold is pretty damn good. I'd only recommend Shoes of Focus on Ah Puch and Kukulkan because the extra mana helps with their passives (more sustain for Puch and more power for Kuku).

Damage Items Pythagoream's Piece should be mandatory on 70% of the mid mage builds. It provides so many stats and has such a powerful aura for only 2300 gold (less gold than Season 3 Chronos Pendant). For those that don't remember, Pythag's gives 40 magical power, 200 mana, 12% magical lifesteal, and 10% cdr. In addition, it has an aura that provides another 30 magical and 12% magical lifesteal as well as 20 physical power and 10% physical lifesteal. It's insanely powerful and anyone who doesn't get it either doesn't understand it's true potency, are new to the game or can't do math.

After Pythag's there are many other damage options. Going Chronos Pendant afterwards does give you full cdr, but the item is so expensive now (2900 gold) and only provides more cdr with its passive, it's usually better to go into other damage items like Book of Thoth, Gem of Isolation, or Divine Ruin. Besides, you're already at 20% with Sands of Time and Pythag's so it's not like you need cooldown desperately compared to last season.

Book of Thoth will remain a standard damage item for mages because it provides lots of power and mana.

Gem of Isolation is a great item to keep assassins and warriors off of you if you're a character with no escape, but it's most useful on gods with multi-hit abilities and DoT damage (Thoth, Poseidon, Isis)

Ethereal Staff and Soul Reaver are good against teams that have built lots of health (guardian and double warrior in jungle and solo, mid mage is building Warlock's Sash). Ethereal Staff is more efficient on gods with low cooldowns and good poke range like He Bo and Vulcan.

Warlock's Sash is a great item to build if you're afraid of getting immediately blown up (if there's a Loki, this should be an immediate buy), but it needs to be built after boots to ensure you get the stacks while they're relevant.

Divine Ruin is an obvious pick up against teams with lots of healing (Sylvanus, Guan Yi, Hel). The item is actually good this season in terms of useful stats, so there's no excuse for not building it against healers.

Spear of Desolation is kinda sketchy imo. I feel like it's only useful if you're ahead and winning most team fights, or else you're not making good use of the passive.

Penetration You're usually looking at one of two pen items when you need to build it, which should be after your two damage items: Obsidian Shard and Spear of Magus. Obsidian Shard is a better option all around because it allows you to do more damage to objectives like towers and Fire Giant. Spear of the Magus allows you to do more damage to gods, but it's much more useful on gods that have multi-hit abilities or DoT damage, like Anubis and Nox.

After getting pen, Rod of Tahuti should be your next item to ensure a good late game power spike, and then you should be looking at one of these items to round out your build.

-Chronos Pendant for more cdr -Polynomicon if you can hit autos after abilities -Soul Reaver (works amazing in conjunction with Book of Thoth -Stone of Fal (great against super bursty mages like He Bo or Ra) -Gem of Isolation (you already have enough burst and are just looking for more utility) -Book of the Dead (works best if you've already built into one of the health items aka Gem of Iso, Ethereal, or Warlock's)

Questionable Items -Bancroft's Talon is out classed by Pythag's. it does provide more power by 30, but Pythag's has more useful stats besides just raw power. -Dynasty Plate Helm is probably still good early, I just prefer to go into items that are useful all game, at least on mages since their items are hella expensive.

Copyright breaking skins that should happen

Posted: 04 Feb 2017 04:45 PM PST

SO, I think that we have some opportunities to make skins a la Rayquaza Kulkulkan and Ash Tyr. Things that should break copyright, but are too cool to not do. Here are some of my ideas: Stay-Puft Kumbha

Pikachu Ratatoskr

Bulbasaur Khepri

Wolverine Ravana

Magneto Janu

He-Man Tyr (one stance is Adam, one is He Man

Akuma/Ryu Ravana (just thinking the whole 'wanna be fighting game design"

I'm sure some of them have been posted before, but I haven't seen em. :) What can you guys come up with?

Rangda's mask is terrifying

Posted: 04 Feb 2017 11:59 AM PST

Seriously, what would your reaction be if you woke up in the middle of the night to see this thing peeping out of your closet?

For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, this is the new item.

Interestingly enough, 3 minutes of research told me that Rangda originates from Balinese mythology and that "Rangda" means "Widow" in old Javanese. (No, not a typo of Japanese). This is not out of the ordinary since Bumba (also called Mbombo) comes from Kuba mythology in Africa. I think these items of pantheons we don't have are merely for flavor and we probably won't be getting gods from them. Although Rangda would be super cool and would kick Ah Puch to the curb as the next masked badass of Smite. Then again, she would probably be the first female that wouldn't follow the copy+paste sexy female model body. How in the world would you sexualize this??

I'm sure some of you mytho-nerds are going to correct my 3 minutes of research. Lookin at you, Kaios.

Any other items out there that are rather spooky or come from pantheons we don't have? Or how about some scary gods that would be BADASS?

Would you like it if they added the full VGS on console?

If you had a keyboard attached to your controller, would it be an advantage over people who don't have the keyboard attached and can't use the full VGS?
