IRL Solitude

TIL there are "hidden" marked locations on Solstheim, they only appear once you are very close to the peaks.

I SHALL SHOW YOU THE DANCE OF MY PEOPLE

Posted: 18 Feb 2017 03:20 AM PST

I making a list of secret Skyrim locations, unmarkes quests and awesome things to do for high level characters. Which things like this would you like to share?

Posted: 17 Feb 2017 02:26 PM PST

I'm talking about hidden places like Kagrenzel, secret bossfights like Voslaarum and Naaslarum, Karstaag, Vulthuryol... Also, quests like Kolbjorn Barrow, or getting all of the Dragon Priest masks, that only a small number of players discover and complete, and wield excelent rewards even for high level characters.

But I'm sure I know little about these secret places and quests, so I would like to know which hidden and awesome places you have stumbled upon on your long adventures in Skyrim. Any help is appreciated.

Once I have enough, I will post a complete list (That by no means should be considered perfect and 100% complete) on this subreddit. May the ground quake as you walk!

Developing Restart Syndrome

Posted: 18 Feb 2017 01:24 AM PST

Hey guys, in love with this game. Still fairly new to it (December) but I am falling into this never ending loop of restarting shortly after starting a new game. What do you guys think would help break this habit?

Is The Black Star permanently lost to Azura?

Posted: 18 Feb 2017 12:30 AM PST

Its described as "cut off from Azura". I took that to mean entirely beyond her influence. Doesn't that mean it won't return to her like it used to? If so does this mean that the Azuras Star that will inevitably appear in the next Elder Scrolls is a newly minted one and original is still knocking around somewhere?

Is Destruction magic just not viable by itself?

Posted: 18 Feb 2017 12:35 AM PST

Seems like every approach I take to try and make a pure mage fail miserably.

I either put too many points into Magicka and have bandits performing finishing animations on me at full health, or I spread my points out more evenly and can't kill anything before my magicka is gone. I spent my first 20 hours in Skyrim having a miserable time because I simply could not figure out how to make Destruction work as a viable damage source.

It feels like by the time I've leveled my Destruction to a point where it can hurt things, the enemies have already surpassed me in the level-scaling "arms race".

I've been reading online on how to make a proper Destruction magic user, and all the guides tell me "Just get Heavy Armor and Enchanting to 100 so you can make Destruction spells cost 100% less to cast". How is that even possible? By the time I do that, I'll be such a high level that every wild animal or bandit that so much as looks at me will melt me. And then the guides go on to say that Destruction magic doesn't really work well past a certain level because it doesn't get any damage scaling with your skill level. This just seems fundamentally broken to me.

I gave up and tried conjuration weapons, and I'm dealing more damage with virtually no magicka cost. I'm suddenly actually enjoying the game somehow. Encounters that I couldn't beat on Novice I'm able to beat with ease on Adept.

The way Skyrim handles magic just seems completely broken on every level. Older ES games handled magic so wonderfully, letting us learn and experiment with different combinations and making super creative spells.

Am I alone with this frustration? I've been playing a Mage since Daggerfall :(

Nobody running Warmaidens (no Adrianne or Ulfberth)

Posted: 18 Feb 2017 01:16 AM PST

It appears that Warmaidens is empty in my game. I cant seem to find Ulfberth or Adrianne anywhere. It doesn't however appear to be shut as I am able to go in at all times during the day (I don't have a key either)

It appears as though Cultists have recently been killed (there's one near the back door of Warmaidens) but I've waited and nobody seems to reappear at the shop. It's annoying as Whiterun is my favourite place and my main place of operations (yay Breezehome).

Does anyone know how to fix this ? I'm on PS4 so console commands aren't an option unfortunately.

About Yash2 and two-handed weapons

Posted: 18 Feb 2017 05:07 AM PST

I recently discovered YASH and the mod is awesome. I started a new game and I would like to ask if anyone knows about how two-handed weapons work with YASH?

The thing is that I like to play Nord (it is just that that this race somehow feels most balanced to me). I can see that the Nords primary affinity is with two-handed weapons but from my past experience I know that two-handed weapons do not work very well with in Skyrim i.e. someone with two one-handed swords will deal much more damage then one two-hander.

Does anyone knows if they have been reworked in any way with this mod?

TIL something about Forsworn briarhearts

Posted: 17 Feb 2017 12:55 PM PST

So I was sneaking about in a Forsworn camp and I spotted one of those briarhearts. Being the totally unimaginative sneak thief I was, I pickpocketed him to see what he had on him, i took everything he had (including his heart) and he died

TL;DR pickpocket briarhearts heart for them to die instantly

Question about the Elder Scrolls in general.

Posted: 17 Feb 2017 11:57 PM PST

So I have been playing the Elder scrolls for a while and been trying to delve into the history of it all but I get conflicting results about some of the lore's .

Where is the best place to really get the truth about the history or is everything just up for interpretation from all the ingame dialog and books and so on?

some lore's that have alot of differences of opinions are: -How the Dwemer disappeared? -How the Dark Elves came into being? -How Talos became a god?

So you see why I am asking, I want truth and not speculation and with the internet, it is sometimes hard to find a true answer when there are many Trolls out there covering them up.

Thanyou for your time.

[SSE] Latest patch causing my game to crash

Posted: 18 Feb 2017 06:42 AM PST

Latest patch for Skyrim Special Edition is causing my game to crash. I look on the community hub forum and see this is happening to a lot of people.

I had absolutely zero issues prior to this patch. Nothing has changed in my mod list everything is the same. When I downloaded SSE a few weeks ago I was actually impressed at how much more stable it was then the original Skryim for mods. Now, I can't even play more than 3 minutes without CTD.

Is this something that you guys think will get fixed or do you have any suggestions for me? Thank you!
