Good morning /r/PokemonGO,

This megathread is for all you thinkers out there who have ideas for Pokemon GO, even the small ones.

Idea posts are still permitted on the subreddit every day of the week, but now you can post those smaller ideas that didn't really justify a full post!

My ~60y/o dad never played video games or watched Pokemon, but is obsessed with Pokemon Go. He is 11 levels above me and just surprised me with a picture of his new swag. Who would have thought that after years of getting told to do more sports, it would be a Pokemon game that gets him outside.

Reminder of Gen I Pink Pokemon.

Posted: 08 Feb 2017 01:14 PM PST

You know what else is adorable and pink? Shiny Dratini.

Posted: 08 Feb 2017 09:21 AM PST

Nothing would get me in the Valentine's Day spirit more than a shiny Dratini. Just look at it!

How could you NOT be instantly in love? Niantic pls.

Updated egg distance list

With the upcoming Valentine's Day event, anyone think Mew is an adorable, pink Pokémon?

Posted: 08 Feb 2017 07:52 AM PST

I'm not saying there's ANY real possibility of this. Just wanted to know if I'm the only one that thought of it.

Niantic does kinda owe us some legendaries. (EDIT: THIS IS A JOKE. This is a lighthearted post.)

Valentines Event Be Like

Posted: 08 Feb 2017 07:01 PM PST

So which is it....

Posted: 08 Feb 2017 04:14 PM PST

What future posts will look after the Valentines Day Event.

Posted: 08 Feb 2017 09:03 AM PST

  • Why are Niantic doubling all the candies, that's not even that useful! Niantic should be shot! :@

  • Mew is a pink Pokemon, why wasn't Mew released!

  • I finally caught a Chansey! And it's 100%IV!! . . .. 21CP!

  • I walked 50km during the event with my Magikarp, now I only have.. 273 candies to go!

  • Update: I did it! Finally! . . . (It has Bite/Twister)

  • Lures last for 6 hours? Who even waits around for 6 hours? That's right, me! Do you know what I caught? NOTHING INTERESTING!!.

  • The only three things i've hatched from his event are Smoochum, cleffa and igglybuff! I hate baby Pokemon, why are they even in the game?

  • I didn't hatch any baby Pokemon and all I can see is posts about people hatching them! Why am I so unlucky! REE! :@

  • I'm not happy about this game and I haven't been for months, I just came here to complain.

Candy Saving Guide for Generation 2 Evolutions (Cross Post from r/TheSilphRoad)

Posted: 08 Feb 2017 07:34 PM PST

I appreciate that the app on android no longer pauses my music on startup, but please dont lower the volume on startup

Posted: 08 Feb 2017 10:51 AM PST

If i listen to music when starting the app it will lower the volume to like half of what it was, so I have to raise it back up. I would be fine if that is all even if its frustrating, but whenever the app is not in the foreground, the music goes back up to original value, on top of what i raised before causing some serious earache.

I believe there is some kind of feature in android used that is used to not make the audio too loud when putting in a headset or something, but that should not be used when in a scenario like this.

If there is a permission I can block the app from using (havent seen anything, but i might be missing it) i would greatly appreciate knowing of it. For reference I use a nexus 5x running 7.1.2.

[Discussion] Who Else Can't Wait for a New Start Screen?

Posted: 08 Feb 2017 12:24 PM PST

The graphic artists have been killing it for each event. I, for one, am very excited to see what they roll out for this Valentine's event. I keep restarting my app hoping to see a new loading screen.

Niantic, please balance the rare spawns from region to region for this event

Posted: 08 Feb 2017 07:47 PM PST

I hate to be that guy who already complains about the event, so let it be clear: I'm really enjoying this event so far. However, it seems as though Niantic's spawn rate algorithm has been altered this time around. In short, all the regions that already had a fair amount of the rare pink Pokemon already spawning just get more of them. The ones that are very rare to the region still don't spawn in that much more frequently.

So basically, the New England Region I'm living in, which already had spawned 2-3 Lickitungs a day is now spawning in a ton of them. However, I've kept a close eye on the area I live in (which has a lot of spawn points) and I've only seen one Chansey all day. By contrast, out in Vegas where Chansey is only somewhat rare is now overwhelmed with Chanseys. If you want a comparison between the spawn rates between regions, you can check out PhillyPokeMap, NYCPokeMap, and VegasPokeMap and see how different the spawn rates are.

The event isn't going to bring as many people back to the game if they can't get the harder to find Pokemon in their region. The reason the Halloween and Starter events were so exciting was that it gave people access to Pokemon not as available in their regions, and the spawn rates were pretty consistent across all regions. I personally was really stoked for some Chanseys, but only caught one over the course of 8 hours. My mom was super excited to catch a Chansey, and now I'm worried she might not even catch one by the time the event is over.

I know this sounds needy since the event just dropped. However, the only reason I'm bringing this up so early is that Niantic still has the chance to tinker with the spawn rates. I'm not asking for Chansey and Porygon to be super common on the East Coast, nor for Lickitung to be super common on the West Coast. I'm just hoping the out-of-region spawns become a little more common (especially since I'm about to get hit by a huge snowstorm).

I really enjoy Pokemon Go, and I realize it's hard work, so I don't want to complain too much, but I think just a slight alteration to the current spawn rates would make a good event even better. Niantic, if you see this post, please consider making such an alteration.

Niantic's valentine

Posted: 08 Feb 2017 01:38 PM PST

Hands up if you caught a billion pink Pokémon before you found out an event was on?

Posted: 08 Feb 2017 01:11 PM PST

I fired up the game to train at a gym (at my gym, ironically) and caught a Lickitung and six Jigglypuff in the span of five minutes.

Moments like that are why I don't mind Niantic leaving it until the last minute before remembering to tell us anything.

The Moment my Heart Stopped.

Posted: 08 Feb 2017 05:48 PM PST

Sitting at home after an eleven hour shift when suddenly...

Despite living in the middle of a mid-sized city I never see much more than the occasional Pidgey or Venonat when I'm home. And Growlithes are an extremely rare sighting anywhere near here. So this was pretty much me as I sprinted out the door.

Twenty frantic minutes later I was rewarded with this magnificent fellow. Made my day.

[Discussion] Why has no one talked about egg changes yet found by the Silph Road?

Posted: 08 Feb 2017 04:28 PM PST

No one has mentioned except u/Oh_My_Spud about the new egg changes found by the Silph Road! Its like Niantic is planning for Gen 2 ahead of time. Some major ones found were Abra and Machop to 2k eggs and Pinsir to 5k eggs instead of 10k. I'm not a 100% sure that these changes took place yet I just know that they have already or will occur.

TL;DR: that little crap krabby is now in 2k eggs.

Source: Silph Road Egg List Link

Or for all you lazy people out there,

10K: HitmonLee, HitmonChan, Chansey, Lapras, Omanyte, Kabuto, Aerodactyl, Snorlax, Dratini, Smoochum, Elekid, and Magby.

5K: Sandshrew, Vulpix, Paras, Meowth, Psyduck, Mankey, Growlithe, Poliwag, Tentacool, Ponyta, Magnemite, Doduo, Seel, Grimer, Shelder, ONIX, Drowzee, Voltorb, Cubone, Lickitung, Koffing, Rhyhorn, Tangela, Horsea, Staryu, SCYTHER, PINSIR, Eevee, Porygon, Pichu, and Togepi.

2k: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Caterpie, Weedle, Spearow, EKANS, NIDORANF, NIDORANM, Zubat, ODDISH, VENOAT, DIGLETT, ABRA, MACHOP, BELLSPROUT, Geodude, SLOWPOKE, GASTLY, KRABBY, EXEGGCUTE, GOLDEEN, Magikarp, Cleffa, and finally Igglybuff.

That list took longer to type than it should have
