There will be a Jugg every game once the ARCANA comes out, so what are the best counters for him?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 11:13 AM PST

About items, I know Ghost Scepter and euls are good on supports , manta on cores. What about heroes?

What's the best way to practice creep blocking?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 05:53 PM PST

As in the title, I really, really suck at blocking creeps and I'd like to improve. Are there any cheats or console commands I can use to spawn creep waves more often to practice them?

I know this has probably been asked a million times, but how to solo carry

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 10:32 AM PST

Is there a comprehensive guide to carry your team solo at low MMRS?

Heroes, mentality, mechanical skill improvent, etc.Like things that 4ks do that are different from 3ks.

Is decision making really the only difference between high mmr players and low mmr players?

How much can MMR can one expect to gain,if he drastically improves on his mechanical skills?

I would really love if someone makes a guide or something like that will help other players like me.

Thanks!

Okay how the hell do I actually play support

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 07:13 AM PST

I don't get it. My most played role by far is support, I have 170 matches of Rubick, and yet I manage to feed every game I play him. Same goes for most supports. Overall pos 4/5 is my worst role. Every time I pick supports generally I feel like I am accomplishing nothing and just being burden to my team. I have no idea what I am doing wrong, I try my best to do what top supports do like rotating, zoning, stacking, being efficient, and yet my ganks often fail or result in me dying, my warding is arguably the worst you'll find among every 4k player there is. I have no understanding of where I want to put my wards and why and generally end up just putting them on the eye symbols and general warding spots that don't actually seem to provide anything useful. I am wasting a ton of time and feel like I have no positive impact on the game. I have no clue what I'm doing or what to do most of the time. I just finished a Rubick game with a score of 0/12/10, so I decided to finally ask my questions here. It's not that I'm really salty for that particular loss, I just figured enough was enough and it was finally time to do something about my situation.

Go to my recent matches on supports: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/82941035/matches. Look at my games on Sky, Venge, Enigma, Ogre, Rubick, Pudge, Silencer. Almost every game I have a ton of deaths, and all in all I don't feel like I am doing anything to win my games. Even the relatively decent Ogre game I felt like I was just getting carried past the laning stage.

So what am I asking from you? Advice. Guidance. I really want to finally learn how to play this god damn role, I don't want to be a burden to my team every time carry role is taken. I am trash, and I'm tired of being trash. If you can in any way help me get decent at the role, or guide me on what I need to do to learn and get better, please, please do so. It's honestly so frustrating that I can't play one of my most favourite heroes in Dota 2 (Rubick) because I feel so worthless when I pick him. It's not even that I'm bad at Rubick's hero mechanics, I played him mid on my smurf I'm setting up for practicing middle just now, and I wrecked. But I can never do this when I'm supporting for some reason, and I want to change that. I used to play support in mid 3k a little and was pretty decent at it, and it seems like my skill on the role has stayed there ever since.

I'm welcoming any and all advice. Thanks in advance!

If you manage to cliff someone before game time, should you waste 3 min of their life or kill them for first blood?

Solo offlane LC legit?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 05:26 PM PST

I've been doing this in 2k and almost always win the lane, just wondering why this isn't done more often/ why LC is always jungle. Basically get 2 shields and just charge the enemy carry and support and max Q first. Urn and Phase boots first items.

Laning as Naga

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 03:49 PM PST

Game was a win, but ignore that.

I enjoy naga, but I struggle a lot on the way to radiance. Usually my timing is 19+ mins, which thankfully doesn't matter too much at 2.5k.

For the first few minutes of this game I had good lane control, but once jug began to get a few levels in him he became a lot harder to lane against.

So this comes down to 2 questions:

  • how to consistently get a 16 minute radiance
  • how to pressure enemies (jug in this instance) to make farming safer

i also take naga mid a fair bit, as (this was especially true <2k) it's often easier to ensure you get farm. however the two mids i struggle vs are invoker and sf. how would you go about dealing with them?

Finding time to farm as a solo support?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 03:34 PM PST

So I am around 3.2k MMR and made the switch to support when I realized the impact they can have in the game. I basically solo support every single game, which is fine by me. I buy as many wards and smokes as possible and try to lead my team and I have seen a lot of success in that, I think in this bracket a little direction helps a team a LOT.

I have been climbing and winning most games, but recently I have really realized a problem for me. I get no farm. Like none. Obviously a position 5 should not expect to be rolling in items but I feel like my problem is I do really well early game, and if I can guide my team we finish fast and it's an easy win. In lane I play aggressive and always try to make a lot of kills happen, and my team does well but I feel like I peak way too early.

My problem is if we don't finish fast I think I fall off REALLY quickly. And I think it's because I can't seem to figure out how to farm. I play a lot of Treant and if I have managed to get a blink dagger that's usually about as far as I go. I'm okay with being poor if it means I am sacrificing to help my team win, but it seems like late game I almost turn into a dead weight.

So my question is how do you keep from getting behind as a (typically solo) support? Basically how to keep game impact up transitioning from early to mid/late game.

I play a lot of treant, dazzle, and AA. I am trying to get into Crystal Maiden because I figure she can farm jungle easy so it may help me stay on track.

My Dotabuff: https://www.dotabuff.com/players/84298544/matches?date=all&lobby_type=ranked_matchmaking

TL/DR: How to stay somewhat farmed/relevant as a support throughout the game?

Thanks.

Help! Trying to trouble-shoot mystery lag-spikes

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 01:27 PM PST

Hey all I've posted about this in the past and never really gotten a resolution. There seems to be this mystery lag-spike situation that pops up once a week or so where I'm literally unable to control my hero for a solid 1-2 seconds. It seems to queue up moves during the unresponsive time because I will sometimes execute several of my key strokes at the same time. I'm wondering if it may be server side, because all the sounds are registering immediately and I can see my mouse-clicks, but then the result of the action is executed after a significant delay. This is most obvious when I buy an item and hear the money sound but then the action takes 1 second to complete. I'm using a hard-wired internet connection and my IP Speed Test is fast, I'm also on a PC so I doubt it is hardware related. Speed test results for my computer: 23 MS Ping 126.9 MBPS download speed 10.34 MBPS upload speed

For issues like this where 30 seconds will be fine then the game will be unresponsive for a second or two, how do I properly test? Like a ping will resolve within 15 seconds and not show the lag spikes.

Is there any way for me to check for lag-spikiness before playing a game? This is really infuriating when I'm playing a ranked match and I occasionally am feeding because of a solid 1 second delay where I might walk into a Huskar for example. It's basically unplayable and seems to pop-up randomly once a week and persist for that day.

Where can I find guides/stream channels for high mmr players playing in low mmr games?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 01:22 PM PST

By low mmr I mean any mmr below 5k, high mmr is higher than 5k. For example, greed is good but being TOO toxic and greedy is not good because it will lose the game. I feel the balance of greediness is different in low mmr compare to high mmr games and many game of the concepts I learn in pro games/high mmr streamer cannot be adapted in low mmr games. I recently figured out that greedy moves are punished less in low mmr games, and therefore it is just better to do that especially for non-core heros(such as midas build, less team oriented item build etc). Another example is 5 carry lineups=auto win in 2k or even 1k mmr etc.

May I please ask if there is any way that I can find a guide or a stream channel where high mmr players play in low mmr games, such as smurfing? I would like to learn the difference in drafting, decision making and item build, in different skill brackets. It's also a better if they are not playing with friends so I can know how they react to their teammates. Thanks!

Should I have gone a different item build?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 06:44 AM PST

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3008036009

I'm the spectre, still learning to play carry and finding itemization and decision making difficult. This game I skipped urn, dont know why. Ganked and killed when ult was off cd. I thought we were at an advantage in terms of fighting 15-25 mins, went diffusal manta. My friend said an earlier radiance would have been better, but i got it late after blademail. Then got mkb for LD's butterfly.

magnus got BKB for me early on, LD got hurricane pike and had savage roar for when i got near him, LS was tanky. Towards the end i couldnt withstand all the damage and at the same time kill them one by one especially with their escapes.

How detrimental is it using items that don't have your main stat i.e: Satanic on Agi, Bloodthorn on Agi?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 08:49 AM PST

So Satanic is 25 Str and 50 Damage, so you're losing 50% of the damage of the item if you use it on an Agi or Int Hero. How big of a deal is this, also curious about using Bloodthorn on non-Int heroes, e.t.c. It always feels like such a waste getting non main-statted items but the active/ additional passives of various items feel so valuable that it may be worth it. How do you guys decide between staying on main stat items and getting those awesome abilities?

Which Heroes can be played as a Support effectively but also flexible to carry when required? Morphling?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 08:46 AM PST

I'm a bit wary of playing a dedicated support hero like CM since often my carries are Peruvian. The situation in Peru is quite dire right now and their player base is bringing their real-life stress to their DotA gameplay and throwing games/ being otherwise cancerous. So if we have 3 or 4 carries and there's no lane to farm in, which hero can start off as a support buying wards and courier and also not really getting much farm but transition into carrying/ farming effective late game when the situation dictates?

How to deal with a Techies ?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 03:32 AM PST

Ok, nearly half of my games lost theses days had a techies in the other team. I already hate this hero and i want to know how to really deal with him.

I've already tried to shut down his early game as a support (tp on the lane and pressure him to not put mines before the start of the game) but i can't always stay behind him so scout (especially when he respawn and hide in the fog) and with all the trees, it's nearly impossible to see the mines and you are 2HKO by mines that you can't even see without flying vision.

Even in the mid game when you have a dominate creep as a carry to scout the red mines, the greens are up evrywhere and when you want to put centries around, there is a long AOE root and you are killed by the greens mines.

Results : Cores can't farm safely and support put all of there money into centry / observers / gems. And even if you play very carefully, you can always die to hiden mines or a flying techies and loose the game cause of this struggle.

Pls, learn me tips to deal with this horror

PS : i'm around 3.1k

Looking for some professional matches, where do I look?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 04:34 AM PST

Sup Y'all,

I am getting into DotA 2 more and more since 7.0 and I am keen to watch some pro matches. I tried some matches I found on youtube and they are all old or seemingly low skill clown feista's.

A. Are there any pro matches being played on 7.0 (not sure if they play on a tournament patch or something)?

B. Are these matches with top tier teams, every game has B and C leagues, I am kinda only interested in top tier stuff?

Thanks in advance.

How do you get builds from the Steam cloud to sync?

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 05:03 AM PST

I went to this site http://www.dota2.com/workshop/builds to make some custom builds. However, when I start a game with a hero that I made a build for, it still uses the default build. I know there is some way to get it to sync, because my old Luna build is working.

I tried searching, but most of the questions on this topic are from 2012-2014 and there have been many client updates since then. Any help appreciated.

Juggernaut's itemization

Posted: 19 Feb 2017 07:16 AM PST

The way I build this hero is hotd->manta -> mjollnir -> blink and then skadi or abyssal. But the problem I have been facing with this build is that until I get skadi or abyssal I don't have enough lockdown when playing against high ms heroes or if they have blinks until I get skadi or abyssal. Is it worth it to get skadi or abyssal instead of mjollnir? Also the heroes I have the most problems against are axe and bloodseeker, any specific items against these heroes? Edit: is there any easy way to control a dominated creep? Can't really use control groups
