I have a dream, a dream for a stupidly large map with a Zangarmarsh theme in its own separate game-mode, outside of ranked/unranked rotation, with no objectives and a high emphasis on laning

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 10:01 AM PST

Now, this map would have no objectives at all, this is to place less emphasis on team fights and more emphasis on split pushing and jungling to give HoTs players a totally different experience.

I imagine the experience would be very similar to Summoner's Rift in League of Legends. No, I don't want to change HoTs to LoL, but a game-mode like this would still be really cool because you get to experience a map like Summoner's Rift but with completely different heroes, shared experience and no items or CS.

This type of game-mode would have longer, more immersive games, and you wouldn't have to rely on your team mates as much, because there are no objectives. I think a lot of players would enjoy this. When they get frustrated with their team mates in unranked/QM/ranked they can go to Zangarmarsh for some "chill" gameplay. Also, all those players who like to AFK push while there are objectives in ranked/unranked can do it in this game-mode, and not screw over their team at the same time.

HoTs can be very stressful and very frustrating for many players and I think having an alternative game-type to relieve that stress within the game itself is extremely valuable.

Other gameplay aspects to having an absurdly large map:

  • Lots of mercenary camps, enough so that having a player dedicated to a "Jungler" type role actually makes sense
  • Less emphasis on team fights and rotations, but ganks are still valuable, especially late game obviously
  • More emphasis on laning, multiple specialist comps would be strong, talents that never get used like Sylvanas' Possession would see play
  • Bosses would have to be much stronger, as many heroes right now can solo them, and soloing bosses is too powerful on a map idea like this. A boss kill should take at least a few people.
  • Globals are pretty much invaluable, Dehaka would be the most banned hero by far. However, the few times you are lucky enough to get a pick on him, you're gonna have a memorable game.
  • I would like to see dynamic environment changes in a map like this. Perhaps in the form of "gates" that can connect lanes or block them off from each other, something like this could enable or prevent ganking, offers another layer of strategy. For example, if a player destroys a fort in their lane (maybe there are multiple forts in each lane on a map this large) they could choose to OPEN OR CLOSE the gate to their respective lane.

Here is the OST for Zangarmarsh and some screenshots that inspired the idea for this map:

Map Soundtrack

Detailed description of Zangarmarsh: Wiki Zangarmarsh

What lanes might look like:

What mercenaries and bosses might look like:

boss1 boss2 mercenary1 mercenary2

Also given that the term "jungler/jungle" is so common in the MOBA genre at the very least a think the game should have a Jungle-themed map like Zangarmarsh in or outside of the rotation :)

EDIT: It seems for the most part that people do not like the "no objective" aspect, and understandably so. However, everyone agrees on Zangarmarsh making a great theme for a regular objective map! So let's make that happen Blizzard :D

Nazeebo's Ice Block should be Zombies climbing on him and forming a 'human' shield.

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 03:14 PM PST

Since I keep seeing the Malf Iceblock threads/comments, thought id throw out my thought of Nazeebo's Iceblock.

Have zombies surface from the ground one on top of the other completely covering Nazeebo, much like the way Iceblock does with... well, ice.

They would act as a Zombie-Human shield for him. No mechanic change, just a visual buff.

What do you guys think? Should the auto-select guy in QM give quest progression for all quests?

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 06:04 AM PST

I was thinking, since you don't choose your hero, should the auto-select guy give you quest progression for all universe/role quests? It currently does not.

Trikslyr, Artanis, Murky, Conspiracy

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 11:56 AM PST

When Artanis went #1 win rate on hotslog, (Valeera patch i think?) i asked trikslyr on twitter: https://gyazo.com/a0f2b06d34dd9a68fb161e7d57f734c8

"What your next plan now that Artanis is #1 win rate on hotslog?" He answered me: Murky to #1

Murky is now sitting at 58% win rate.

Trik knew something fishy was going on alrdy with murky back in january.

People like this need to be punished more severely because silencing is not enough

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 08:25 AM PST

Get into a game for the first time all weekend and the enemy team has a silence leoric. Look up at the death icon leoric dead in first 30 seconds, dead 4 time in the first 2 minutes , dead 12 times in about 3 minutes 34 seconds. This leoric proceeded to die 29 times overall in an 18 min match. This is completely unacceptable that players like this are allowed to play the game. They are already silenced and obviously dont care about the game or there teammates who had to endure this behavior. Wasted there teammates time being in a game with a player like this.

Which "must have" talent would you like to make baseline?

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 12:44 PM PST

I would love Dehaka's tunneling claws as baseline. And Brewmaster balance should long have been baseline for Chen.

[Suggestion] Random choice =/= random skin

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 12:09 PM PST

I love playing random. It makes me play characters I may not have visited in a while and learn them. A lot of characters (even ones I don't paly much) I've bought skins for. It makes me not want to play random at all when I get set with a skin I don't wanna use. I've never played a game where picking a random character randomizes pre-set specific things for said character like this and think it's a bad idea.

tl;dr: Don't make skins random when playing random characters.

I have been wanting Grommash Hellscream in the game since early 2016, but it seems he won't be made anytime soon, do you have any characters that you have been waiting for?

i miss Nova being an actual ghost

Posted: 20 Feb 2017 04:08 AM PST

i mean, she doesnt use any of her psychic skills. regarding to books shes one of the most powerful ghosts yet shes just a terran in a cloaking ghost suit. i would love to see a talent which teeks her Q if you nearly miss the target so it automatically hits it. or something like a psychonic outburst which killed her family.
