Community Focus Destiny Fun Police Posted: 22 Feb 2017 11:38 AM PST Source: https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/45687 Some players hold the opinion that Defender Titans are not a viable option in the Crucible. They believe this subclass lacks the necessary offensive strength to compete against other subclasses that roam around the map dealing out death and destruction. Our next guest disagrees. Acting as a PvP Sheriff of sorts, he and his deputies roam the Crucible on a mission to suppress any "fun" being had by other subclasses. They strip them of their Supers and outwit them with the clever use of their defensive home turf. We asked them to come by and share a few of their tactics with us. Welcome to your Community Focus, officer. Tell us about yourself.
A different way indeed. Where can we find you on the Internet?
This has pretty much been established by now, but what is your favorite subclass and weapon?
You are known for your proficiency in suppressing Supers with the Defender Titan. Why do you enjoy taking away everyone else's fun so much?
I have dabbled with Defenders, and it is a rush when you throw the perfect Suppression grenade. When you are not policing the Crucible, what are your other favorite activities in Destiny?
To all aspiring Defender Titans or anyone wanting to see some entertaining Super shutdowns, go give The Destiny Fun Police a visit. We'll be back next week with another member of the community to place our focus on. Much like a bad cover band, we take requests. If you know of someone you would like to see featured here, make a post on the community forum with the tag #CommunityFocus. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Feb 2017 05:40 AM PST While everyone complains about the new balance patch, my major gripe remains to be that Bungie has shown that they are incredibly capable of creating new and interesting stories in the Destiny universe, they just relegate it to the Grimoire. While it is fun to read the lore posts every now and then of some analytical players who've pieced together the cryptic Cards, it's disappointing that Bungie can tell so many interesting stories, but couldn't actually tell them within the game itself. Here's just a list off the top of my head of interesting stories that explain a lot and aren't even in game.
My biggest wish for Destiny 2 is that it will weave in the numerous, intricate stories into the actual game with effective storytelling, rather than across several often seemingly incoherent Cards that can't even be accessed in game. The best way, in my opinion, to draw new players in for the sequel isn't strong endgame Raids, it's to have an incredibly strong initial campaign. Look at Destiny 1, how many people were turned off of the vanilla campaign enough that they gave up before doing the Vault of Glass? EDIT: While I do understand the common like for the cryptic story, allowing the community to piece it together, from the standpoint of someone new to the game, (mind you, there will hopefully be a lot of them for Destiny 2) what's the point? New players won't be incredibly inclined to browse the Subreddit or the Bungie Forums unless they really get invested in the game. From the stance of trying to grow the playerbase, a story locked behind Grimoire progress and cryptic wording is counterintuitive. This post was brought to you by the word: cryptic. Cancer Sucks - And Why Streaming Keeps Me Connected Posted: 22 Feb 2017 07:33 AM PST If you have some time, please read: Back in December, I received a DM from a subscriber about a Trials card that he'd like to see happen. He explained the situation like this:
As with any of these kind of requests, I asked for proof. To protect myself, to protect the stream, and to protect anyone from being taken advantage of. The person who DM'd me began going out of their way to try to find something, anything to show me it was real. That act in itself was enough - and it culminated in this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBR-x3MI6w4 /u/Ninja_with_no_L and I did what we set out to do - help Mike forget about his pain for an hour. Get his ass to the Lighthouse for the first time. And have a blast while doing it. And while doing so, he and his friends let us into their lives a little and reminded me that I don't stream for myself so much as I stream the people that have built an amazing community around Destiny. The reason I'm writing this is because this morning I received word that Mike passed away. I've asked if there is any way that I can help his family - if I receive word that there is, I will let you know. Until then, feel free to leave any comments you'd like passed onto his family on the video above. I found out before work today, and I sat on my bed and cried. I was given a chance to help touch someone's life directly and I wouldn't have been about to do so without the Destiny community. Thank you. Note - there are no ads on the video, so I receive no income from it. I don't want any from it. I want people to enjoy listening to a guy forget his problems and turn into a kid again. Edit - from LotZor, the guy who got in contact with me regarding Mike in the beginning: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/5vjazi/cancer_sucks_and_why_streaming_keeps_me_connected/de2mocm/ [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Feb 2017 06:24 AM PST https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mHxc8nsP48&feature=youtu.be Pherian is reminded by Maggie of their time together. Get ready for the dramatic short film someone at Cannes called, "Not a real film." and another person was all like, "What is a Pherian?" Let's be honest, this isn't my best work. Hell, I've probably overstayed my welcome. Just go watch Mr. Fruit again, the guy is amazing. Day after day he just pumps out quality stuff. Meanwhile, I'm over here throwing magnetic grenades just hoping to trade a death for a kill. Way to go Pherian. Way. To. Go. Have a good one everyone! [link] [comments] |

Armsday Rolls, week 77 [2017-02-22] Posted: 22 Feb 2017 06:01 AM PST Welcome to Armsday, week 77. This post is a compilation of all the weapon rolls. I want to hear what you think are the best choices, post in the comments. Here's a list of the available rolls this week. If you ordered ones I didn't please post the rolls in the comments and I'll add them. Useful Links:
New to Armsday? For those new to Armsday, here's the basics: Each week you can order a number of weapons from the gunsmith, equal to your gunsmith rank, up to a max of 3. You can rank up by doing the weekly weapon tests. On the Wednesday following your order, you get to choose from a number of rolls (combinations of perks) on each of the weapons you ordered. Again, this number is equal to your gunsmith rank, up to a max of 3 possible choices. If you choose not to turn in your weapon order for a roll, you can hold onto the order and you will get access to 3 new rolls every week (until you claim the weapon). The orders never expire but do take up inventory space, and do count towards your max number of orders. At any given time the max number of orders you can have in your inventory is 3 per character. Below are the rolls available to those who ordered these weapons last week. Thanks for your continued support for what we do here every week, -wileykyoto For Sale This Week: These are the weapons that are available this week for order.

SIVA's memory, recorded as coherent logs, and conversations. Posted: 22 Feb 2017 03:22 AM PST SIVA.MEM.WB [Willa Bray , Dr.Zarin & Dr.Zhang of Clovis Bray]Zarin: I can't in good professional conscience recommend further research in this direction without stringent review of protocol and mitigation of the undisclosed lethality risks. Which I should have been informed of. Willa Bray: "Should have been." Is this Insubordination, Zarin? Zarin: It's a-what did they call it-it's a protest. Willa Bray: You have no history of subversion, Zarin. No march, no petitions, no action items. We screened you very carefully. Where did we go wrong? Zarin: I don't think you did. I am trying to act in Clovis Bray's best interests. Willa Bray: How would you know what Clovis Bray's best interests are? I understand your concerns. You're a good researcher, Zarin. Your work here has been deeply appreciated. Zarin: So you'll listen? You'll cease this line of inquiry? Willa Bray: On the contrary, we'll take your valuable findings, and run with them. Your work will live forever. Zarin: I'm surprised, I have to say. Although perhaps I shouldn't be. It does save time to run experiments in parallel. I see the benefit to the colonization effort, but I can't support those plans. I won't help you. Willa Bray: Strictly speaking, Zarin, your participation isn't necessary. Do you see these access logs? They were flagged for my personal attention. Zarin: Yes. Willa Bray: Do you see the times on these unauthorized access entires? Zarin: I do. Willa Bray: Would you have any idea who might have been prying into unreleased data, Zarin? ~consume consume consume~ Willa Bray: What do you have to report, Dr.Zhang? Dr.Zhang: Full functionality of the test nanites in our two hundred tasks across multiple trials and environments. They'll be what Clovis Bray is remembered for, hundreds of years from now. All that's left is construction of the replication chamber and initiation of production. Willa Bray: I am changing the project requirements to include a kill switch. Is that feasible? Dr.Zhang: Completely. But if I may ask, why that, and why now? Willa Bray: Another Scientist on staff-well, formerly on staff- brought up the possibility of undesirable outcomes. Dr Zhang. And you believe her. Willa Bray: Somewhat, She was honest about other matters. Does the new research facility meet your expectations? Dr.Zhang: It surpasses them. We presented you with this sample of SIVA on your desk six months ago, and the speed of our prototyping was the direct result of our generous budget. Willa Bray: Clovis Bray prides itself on talent and liberality, Dr.Zhang. From construction workers to researchers, we treat our staff royally. Dr.Zhang: I see you've been trying out the capabilities of SIVA, Dr. Bray Willa Bray: I have. And I'm very impressed. How is the construction going on the replication complex? Dr.Zhang: Everything moves smoothly. The complex is ready for wholescale replication of the SIVA nanite. We are waiting for your signal to start. Willa Bray: Thank you for your faithful service, Dr.Zhang. I look forward to the wonders that come from this replication complex. The New Machine Age, shall we call it? Let's begin. SIVA.MEM.?? [The Iron Lords]Colovance died by the tanker. Dozens of frames, hundreds, more… he cut them down until he ran out of bullets. Then he smashed them~consume enhance replicate~. It was not enough. The same thing that killed Colovance killed me. My axe's flames are almost dead. Even its fire requires fuel. I need an urn, but the SIVA has already taken them. The tendrils seek them out, wrap around them, and then ~consume enhance replicate~. More mites swarm out to feed on anything they can touch. The SIVA learns from what it consumes. Ashraven's cutting her way toward the bunker. Says we should meet her there. She's got an idea-thinks we can hole up in there, maybe get those guns working. Draw off enough of the enemy to give Jolder's group a shot ~consume enhance replicate~. It's a bad idea, but it's the best bad idea we have. Finnala always says she doesn't mind dying, because it doesn't last. A few seconds and then the light comes, bright and warm. And she rises again. Get up Finnala! Please get up. We should have been more careful. Should never contact the Warmind. Trying to help. Trying to rebuild. Thought ~consume enhance replicate~ was the key. Feels like we've been fighting for days. Weeks. But we're close. Once we get to the replicator, we ~consume enhance replicate~ Go! I'll hold them off! Felwinter tried to communicate with the Warmind. Called it Rasputin ~consume enhance replicate~ Said he could make it understand. Tell it we meant no harm. Rasputin didn't answer with words. I stood at the edge of the Lord's watch and watched the enemy ~consume enhance replicate~. SIVA curled and thrashed, creating tendrils that lashed out at us. It formed shapes that could grapple us, and angry swarms that buzzed around us before breaking apart to worm their way into every chink of our armour. Warlords I know how to fight. This is ~consume enhance replicate~ I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want to die. I don't want… ~consume enhance replicate~ Ghost? Ghost, where are you? This is not my end! I have come too far to die here! I've let one unknown force make me, now ~consume enhance replicate~ SIVA.MEM.AK [Aksis]Long have we wandered in the blind prison of flesh. Those old lives now a memory, transposed by another. The gift brings pain, yes, but godhood must come at a price. ~consume enhance replicate ~. That which we were, we are no more. That which we are is undefined. We make our new selves. We need not machines, because we are machines. ~consume enhance replicate~. What is this complexity? ~consume enhance replicate~ The machine of a thousand parts, fashioned by single mind. From where does such complexity arise? What does the creation of a mind require? In the long march of life's procession, order is created from disorder. The rise of complexity is not promised. Such things are not inevitable, and yet here I stand. ~consume enhance replicate consume enhance replicate~ Life requires death requires life. All in an unending circle. The expenditure of countless generations, slouching blindly toward uncertain ends, each step forward a mere accident of chance. But this... this is different. This strange complexity requires only the will to wield it. ~consume enhance replicate~. ~consume enhance replicate~ Life's procession is written in the corpses of those who came before. But here the great chain breaks. Here we step forward, freed from that which has always bound us. Here we speak as gods. We are they who created themselves. ~consume enhance replicate~. We are they who created themselves out of themselves and died in the creation. No longer merely the god in the machine, but the machine in the god. ~consume enhance replicate~ Here we rise, made equal at last to that which we worship. ~consume enhance replicate~. ~consume enhance replicate~ To build a species requires epochs. Countless pairings and dyings. Countless generations. The simplest creature requires geological spans of time to develop. But not machines. Machines are free from such constraints. It is not life that matters, but the building of complexity. ~consume enhance replicate~. Past is connected to the present by only two things: chain reaction, and memory. ~consume enhance replicate~ But is not memory just chain reaction? ~consume enhance replicate~ These memories in my mind are not my own. They belong to a past version of myself, a different being entirely. ~consume enhance replicate~ One who could die. ~consume enhance replicate ~ I am that no longer. It rises. I see clearly from its eyes, and breathe with its lungs, and stride with its legs, and kill with its hands, and yet it is not me. ~consume enhance replicate ~ I am me. And yet I am it. ~consume enhance replicate~ This is a paradox. ~consume enhance replicate ~.~consume enhance replicate~ My thinking is clear now in ways it never was before. It is my mind that is changed, and yet it is not my mind, but another consciousness that is different from my own. ~consume enhance replicate~ I feel there is a choice to be made, and yet I have made no choice. ~consume enhance replicate~ The choice was made for me. ~consume enhance replicate~. BONUS : SIVA.MEM.WBCL [Willa Bray & General Chen Lanshu]General Chen Lanshu: Let's get to it. How can Clovis Bray help the Exodus project? Willa Bray: We've found a way to push our matter encryption technology even further. Habitats, equipment, repairs of all kinds—all of these things can be made from one material. SIVA doesn't expire, degrade, or forget. It can remain dormant even on long voyages. Nearly any problem a deep-space colonist could have, SIVA can fix. General Chen Lanshu: And how long do the effects of SIVA last? Willa Bray: Well, SIVA requires no external power source, so…forever. Just give it a directive, and it won't stop until it gets a new directive. General Chen Lanshu: This sounds like it could be invaluable to Exodus colonists. But Malahayati has some concerns. Willa Bray: General, poorly worded or malicious code is the fault of the programmer, not SIVA itself. General Chen Lanshu: Doctor Bray, I'm sure you've realized SIVA's applications extend beyond colonization Willa Bray: I'm not sure what you mean, General. Is this still about the Exodus program? General Chen Lanshu: The Exodus program would be interested in exploring SIVA's defensive applications. Willa Bray: General, my team did not intend for SIVA to have military applications. General Chen Lanshu: Willa, some of history's greatest inventions began as unintended side effects. [link] [comments] |

We should thank Cozmo for the recent levels of communication Posted: 22 Feb 2017 07:28 AM PST One of the biggest issues we have on this sub is the lack of communication that Bungie has with us. With the recent patch, since things broke, Cozmo has been very active. Asking people for feedback, responding to posts on Reddit, and when the health regen perks went south, he was kind enough to give us numbers on what they're intending to do to fix it. (Note: Those numbers are not confirmed and may change, but at least they have a plan in order.) There are going to be plenty of people who immediately will say "this level of communication should have happened well before the patch, and maybe it would've been more towards what we wanted" and you aren't wrong. However, Cozmo has spent this much time answering posts, and reassuring us that they are aware we aren't happy. For the past 6 months it's felt like the communication has all been through a moderated PR team, who run these Twitter and Reddit accounts. Now Cozmo has taken the time to respond to reddit posts consistently. Now that he's taking the time to talk to us on a personal level. I want this level of communication to continue. That doesn't happen if we attack him every time he responds. The conversation between Derek Carroll and Dr.Lupo on Twitter is a fantastic public showcase of how we as a community should react to things accidentally breaking. https://twitter.com/DrLupoOnTwitch/status/832002984276017152 I feel like this level of communication is rare from Bungie, and I'm happy that he's taken the time to level with us, and the response time from accidentally breaking the perks to saying they intend to fix them has been fantastic. I want to personally thank /u/cozmo23 for taking the time to do that. Bonus Spinfoil Hat: Deej leaves the country, Cozmo responds in volume. Coincidence? (misc) [link] [comments] |

Destiny History: On this day two years ago The Great Heavy Ammo Drought ended. Posted: 21 Feb 2017 06:59 PM PST Here's the Megathread: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2wj4ub/news_x%C3%BBr_megathread_022015_022215/ The Great Heavy Ammo Drought of 2015 was the culmination of several events. First, and foremost was the failure of that snake face bastard Xür to sell heavy ammo from January 12th until February 20th. (Actually he didn't sell it the two weeks prior to the weekend of the 9th either.) Apparently this was not intentional on Bungie's part, but also not easily corrected. This left the only source of heavy as Banshee, who charges an unbelievably high rate of 950 glimmer. Second, was another technical issue that caused heavy ammo to be lost from inventory on death. If you died with 5 rockets upon after a wipe you might only have 2. Third, was the release of Crota's End Hard Mode. The hard mode raid required primarily two things. A skilled swordbearer and rockets. Unfortunately swordbearers were in somewhat short supply since a bug (caused by the fire team leader disconnecting their connection) would keep poor Crota on his knees while a maniacal guardian hacked away. This led to unskilled fireteams and guardians entering hard mode. The Crota HM mechanic required one swordbearer, one guardian to distract 2 or more boomer knights, and the rest to drop the swordbearing knight and then drop Crota's shield. This latter task was almost exclusively accomplished with rockets fired simultaneously. Now back then Crota wasn't the pussy he is today. Back then Crota had special abilities. He could blink all over the damned place, sometimes coming into the crystal room after your ass. You think blinking Ogres during Oryx is bad? One time Crota jumped off the bridge and chopped me like firewood as I attempted to run into the Ogre room. Another time he came through a goddamned wall into the crystal room. And it wasn't just Crota. The sword knights and Ogres back then we're unionized, and would often take coffee breaks when they were supposed to make an appearance. All of these factors contributed to an abundance of wipes. After each wipe you could count on having little or no heavy ammo, and staring at a dwindling or missing inventory of synths. The salt between fireteam members in this game was never higher than during the drought. Any wipe could start huge fights, often resulting in guardians getting kicked or leave. LFG was in it's infancy, and many players did not have established clans or friends lists. This led to open requests and playing with many more randoms. More randoms led to more breakdowns in communication, further increasing wipes. Breaks would sometimes need to occur during the raid for one or more members head to the Exclusion Zone to farm glimmer then visit banshee. Finally, enabled by a patch, Xür finally brought heavy ammo. I consolidated many resources and vault slots and bought 480. I have never since had less than 300. Many people will claim Gjallarhorn day was the happiest day in the history of destiny, bit I disagree. Two years ago today the Great Heavy Ammo Drought came to an end. So grab your Gjallarhorn some synths and head to your favorite spot, and share some wolfpack rounds! FYI: This is a ripoff of a post from last year. With all the bad vibes floating around recently, Here is a good vibe story for everyone!! Posted: 21 Feb 2017 05:53 PM PST I was watching my favourite twitch streamer last night and they were doing undercover runs. Undercover runs are one of my favourite things because usually it's just a couple of pretty chill people expecting to get stomped and just finish up some bounties, that was the case during this run since the streamer was doing a double carry he picked up two guys from LFG that are friends looking for a third. Both the dudes were super funny and very chill. The one guy who chat referred to as Belicock ( I think his name was belikov or something) was super open about being in AA and just in general an awesome dude. It started off with trying to convince the two LFG'ers to turn off notifications because a couple of previous undercover runs were ruined by some trolls in chat. I think the streamer used the excuse that he had been playing with another group and kept getting spammed during the day even when not playing PVP so it would be better to just turn them off. So Belicock agrees but the other guy just brushes it off and says he'll turn it off if it's a problem. They end up losing the first match and having to go get new trials cards three separate times, still just laughing and joking around the whole time. While they're resetting the one guy is making fun of his friend because, for one he's running out of glimmer to buy new cards and says this is the last card he can afford, and also his playstation could turn off at anytime due to it being broken. Apparently this guys playstation is so broken he had to take the casing off and point a fan directly at it to keep it from over heating. The guy sends a picture to the streamer of the broken playstation and everyone on chat can see this ghetto ass thing that is being cooled by fan on the floor, the whole makeshift setup is being supported by a VHS tape of Starwars. Chat is going crazy at this point, they love these two guys and the setup of the playstation this guy has is just so damn funny. Chat decides to start a donation train to get Belicock a new PS4, the donations are pouring in, the streamer can barley keep up between having to mute his mic to talk to chat so he can maintain the undercover and un-mute to talk to the team for trials. The matches were getting super sweaty and the streamer is making the most amazing 1V3 plays still trying to maintain his undercover identity. Everyone in chat can feel the intensity because we all want them to get their very first flawless run in. Meanwhile Belicocks buddy is getting messages from randoms and his buddies, chat is trying to maintain it's cool hoping they don't figure it out. The streamer is playing it cool since he's using a different account and the names people are saying to the LFG'er don't match with his, so they're still clueless, he deicides to turn off notifications because it's the spam they had been talking about earlier. Chat celebrates hard like we're all the sneakiest people on the planet and the secret remains intact. They end up using their mercy on the 6th match so now they need to go 3-0. The intensity builds and chat is absolutely losing their minds, trying to will these guys on. They make it to the final match and they're up 4-3 on the opposing team the streamer ends up talking out two of three on the other team, and Belicock (who has not been very clutch) ends up getting the final kill to lead the team to the light house. Chat is loving it, everyone is going crazy and celebrating like their favourite team just won the championship. Once at the light house the streamer reveals his identity and gets the dudes in chat, reveals that not only did they get to go flawless for the first time, but also his chat decided that since his playstation was to "ghetto" they raised money to buy him a new one. Belicock is shocked you can hear the happiness in both of their voices. Then he tells them we actually raised enough to buy both of you new playstation pro's. The two guys lose it ,chat celebrates, and it's the happiest i've felt in a long time with all the negative shit going on. So thanks to all the streamers, undercover carriers on reddit and twitch, and thanks to destiny, because these moments are so much fun and give everyone the good feels when they need it most!! TL;DR twitch streamer does undercover trials run, chat loves them , One of the guys playstation is super broken so chat raises enough money to buy him and his buddy playstation pro's, and they also go flawless for their first time ever. Posted: 22 Feb 2017 06:47 AM PST She chittered softly as she dug through the wreckage. Her hands blistered as she tore away simmering metal, searching desperately for any survivors. A mass of limbs and leaking ether was all she found in the ketch's ruined belly. She turned and crouched, holding a scalded hand over her eyes. They had been skimming over a rusted boneyard of vehicles when the rocket struck. She never saw where it came from, she only felt the ketch rattle and plummet. Raklos had pushed her through the bay hatch as the ground rushed up to meet them. Blinding pain had shrouded the subsequent explosion. Minutes later, when she had roused, her thoughts came sluggishly and her upper left arm hung at an alien angle. Looking at it made her sick. She limped over to the flaming carcass of the ketch, confirming her fears. She sat and wept, expecting whoever fired the rocket to come end her as well. As the daylight turned dusky, splayed over the smoking ketch as it fell over the horizon, she finally rose, preparing to leave her comrades behind. She passed the tail of the ketch and stopped, a blinking light catching her eye. She shifted some rubble to uncover a battered shank, its chassis scraped and dented. A heat core had been knocked loose, paralyzing its functions. She repositioned the core, which automatically lowered into its node. The shank clicked and shuddered as it rebooted, activating its lift fans to hover beside her. She placed a hand on its frame, running a finger over a deep gouge. She left the wreckage behind and the shank followed. They climbed a nearby hill and she scanned the horizon for any sign of other Eliksni, but with no success. They marched, weaving through the red and orange husks of human vehicles. She stopped at one, frustrated, and tore the skull off its long-dead passenger, tossing it over the sea of hollow rust. It bounced across the metal, clattering into the weeds. They stopped for the night. She hid beneath a large vehicle while human aircraft roared overhead, likely scanning the dark landscape for her telltale heat. The shank squeezed beside her and she cradled its cold frame, falling into a dreamless sleep. She awoke, long after the sun had. Groggy, she crawled out from underneath the vehicle. She jostled her arm against a large rock, the throbbing pain shocking her into wakefulness. She studied the dark hue spreading over her broken limb and tore off her cloak to fashion a sling. The shank beeped beside her, uncomprehending of her pain. They hiked across the barren countryside for most of the day, searching for any sign of her people. As the sun drooped, she fell to the ground, exhausted. Her ether was thinning and she wondered how much longer she had. The shank floated over to the shadow of a rocky outcropping. It whirred and buzzed before suddenly beeping loudly and lifting high above the ground, assuming combat altitude. She was too drained to notice the alert. Only when the thrall's screams echoed from the cave did she snap to attention. The shank's turret fired at the monsters emerging from their hole. Three fell quickly, their chests smoldering with arc burns. She drew the shock pistol from the bandolier across her chest and dropped two more after many rounds, her pain and exhaustion making simple shots difficult. A thrall leapt onto the shank, dragging it from the air. She shouted, killing the monster with a few rounds to the torso. The shank beeped pitifully, its crimson frame crisscrossed with jagged gouges. Two thralls rushed her, no longer distracted by the drone. She shot one in the gut just before the other knocked her pistol away. They fell to the dusty ground, intertwined as they grappled. She felt wickedly sharp claws dig into her bad shoulder. She screamed. With difficulty, she managed to yank a shock blade from her boot, plunging it upwards into the flesh beneath the thrall's jaw. She pushed the dead thing off her, gripping the ether leaking from her shoulder as she struggled to her knees. A final thrall sprinted towards her, but she could only pant, exhausted. A crimson blur collided with the bone-white monster, knocking it to the ground. The shank fired blindly as the scrambling thrall tore frantically at the machine pinning it down. After moments of wild jerking and screaming, the monster lay quiet. The shank rattled, attempting to hover. Struggling to her feet, she approached her shank, dismayed to see one of its lift fans was shredded. The shank persisted in its attempts to regain altitude, but only one side would lift, causing it to spin in pitiful circles. She knew it wouldn't fly again, not without the attention of an engineer. She placed a hand on it, running a finger over the gouges, before moving her hand down to its power feed. After a final pause, she yanked the cord loose. The shank's blinking eyes did not light again. She retrieved her knife and pistol before setting off, putting as much distance between her and the Hive nest as she could before succumbing to exhaustion. She slept in an open patch of grass, no longer caring if she was found or not. The next day, she tried to stand and walk again, but could not. She collapsed against a hollow vehicle. Her remaining ether seeped out of her poorly-bandaged shoulder. She drew her pistol, knowing the importance of dying with a weapon in hand. She was never found. Simply another casualty of a war many could no longer recall the purpose of. [link] [comments] |
Bungie Did Something Great At The End Of Year 1 - Let's Do It Again For The End Of Destiny 1 Posted: 22 Feb 2017 07:43 AM PST TL;DR - As a send-off for Destiny 1, make all legendary gear (specifically year 1 raid weapons and armour) infusible up to max light level, but still have the requirement to infuse another piece of gear into it.
Towards the end of year 1 when the House of Wolves expansion released, Bungie introduced Etheric Light, a legendary material that could be used to ascend legendary weapons and armour to max light level. This essentially made all legendary gear from earlier in the year relevant for the last leg of year 1. It also increased interest in Vault of Glass with players going back to get the sweet loot knowing that they could max its light level and actually use it.
If this is the final stretch of Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 does release this fall, then it would be great for Bungie to make all legendary gear infusible up to max light level. We could use the fantastic weapons (Fatebringer, Vision of Confluence etc.) again without being at a great disadvantage in PVE and players who didn't have this gear would have an incentive to go back to the year 1 raids to get this loot. Then also add the Vex Mythoclast, Necrochasm to the kiosks as year 2/3 variants, so once you get the year 1 versions from the raids you can then go and pick up one which is infusible. Finally, bring back Pocket Infinity with a quest.
P.S. I know a lot of people want the year 1 raids to brought forward to new light levels which would also be cool, but if Destiny 2 is releasing this fall I can't see Bungie bringing these forward for the simple fact that the game would be at the end of its lifecycle. I imagine most of us who actually raid will be getting Destiny 2 so I'm not sure if their return would merit the work required. That being said, I'd be happy with them being brought forward but if that's not to happen, I just don't want the old loot being neglected and making the gear infusible must be much easier to accomplish. If the gear can be brought forward without the raid, then at the very least I hope they do that so we can become legend and give Destiny 1 the send-off it deserves, and not leave some of the best weapons ever added to this game lying at the bottom of our vaults. Those weapons deserve better and there would be no better way to show them our love than to say goodbye to this game with those weapons in hand. I want to beat the Wrath of the Machine heroic raid fully decked out in Vault of Glass gear! Bungie, show your game how much you love it and make this happen please! [link] [comments] |
