Objective opinion on the state of the game

I haven't played in about a year and a half, and I'm really surprised the game is still in early access. That said, with the old ball and chain in law school and the exam period quickly approaching, I'm looking for a game to binge on to help fight off the crippling loneliness I'm going to have.

Is the game bingeable in this communities opinion, even though it's still in early access?

I recently finished building my PC and was overly excited to begin my adventures into Dayz, however every time I have played so far I have literally died of starvation. I have a hard time finding any sort of food, wells are my only hydration, and if im ever lucky enough to find a gun, rounds for it are more existent than my father. Is it simply that the game has really become this punishing and severe, or am I perhaps picking the wrong servers at the wrong times? I just dont know

Playstyles

Curious how many other people play like I do. I don't really go for military locations, I prefer rolling as a "civilian survivor". Love to grab a cowboy hat, some nice looking civvie clothes, and a winchester and magnum. I generally just try to survive, explore, and I don't kill on sight unless the other person sees me. Trying out the new hunting mechanics and such now (trying to make a leather backpack).

Idk, I enjoy PvP, but lately I've really been enjoying playing this way.

Anyone else have non conventional playstyles?

Your thoughts on dayz!

So first thing I have 2000 hours on dayz but have not played in the past 8 months. I jumped on yesterday and had 130 fps. (I was screaming and running around well hobbling). I just had surgery 3 days ago and wanted to know something from the community.

If i wanted to play tonight for 3-4 hours could I get geared and have some good gun fights with the new update? If so what towns would you recommend looting. And what towns for gun fights. (I know nothing about loot spawns and popular areas because it looks like they have changed since I last played)

Also any tips on the new updates. THANKS!
