Anet are we gonna get this cleaned up sometime? id love to see old Kessex again, or a new Kessex (maybe have some asura farm thats growing the toxic spores for their other uses).

Octovine tips from your favorite backseat commander

Since everyone's making a last-minute rush to farm Octovine in anticipation of the impending "nerf" to the GW2 end-game, let's review some basic tips for smooth Octovine runs.

What inevitably happens is that the frogs go on a mayhem, someone drags them towards the Octovine burn phases, and some backseat commanders start yelling at the armors to do multiple things at once... which isn't physically possible unless you have 4+ armors at minimum, and even then armors still have a high chance of dying to frogs or getting stun-locked.

So, using some basic logic and working backwards, we can figure out some basic tactics:

  1. Everyone needs to help take down the breachers and frogs. It will only take a few seconds.

    • Simple logic: Armors cannot do anything else if they have to kill frogs first.
    • Armors, as their name implies, are good at being tanky. They are not good DPS, so it takes them very long to kill frogs.
    • Dead frogs means armors can do their real job:

  2. If no one is in an armor, get in a god damned armor. You need at least two for each side to push away the Triggerblossoms and stun the big rolling Bonebreakers. I believe East can get away with having one/no armors though, but I almost never go there so don't quote me on that.

    • Triggerblossoms are time bombs and can only be moved by the armors. When their health reaches zero, they wille explode.
    • Armors: Try to stun the rollers near the sides of the arena. If they're already rolling through the middle, it's better to let them pass through; they tend to change direction each time, so stun them on the other side and hopefully keep them there. Try to use your long-range freeze skill (skill #4), and time it just as their defiance/break bar reaches full to minimize how far they roll.

  3. Breachers and frogs will respawn. If it's the final burn, then it's usually faster to focus on the burn phase and have the armors keep them busy in the corner. If a frog is attacking you, do NOT drag it to the zerg or burn phase.

Seriously, that's about it. Everything else you can pretty much bumble your way through as long as there are a few reasonably competent people around.

The only other side I think needs any additional explanation at all is probably the south side, regarding the bomb.

The bomb can only be affected by crowd control skills. Attacking it doesn't do shit unless your autoattack has a CC effect on it.

Use knockback and pull skills to move the bomb. If it gets entangled, use any other CC to free it. Armors can supposedly un-tangle it as well, although I've never had to do this.

You can avoid the bomb being entangled in the first place by not knocking it into the red circles created by the roller lizards. If you've never realized this before, it'll drive you crazy now when you see people doing this.

Keep a safe distance from the bomb when it approaches the vine, because it will explode and you will probably die. Dead people + reviving dead people = shitty damage, remember? If there's one time Point Blank Shot rangers are actually welcome, it'd be here. I'm guessing measures like Aegis and Rebound will work well to shield the more suicidal players too, but I've never tried.

I feel like a lot of this could be remedied via better game design, but I'm told that I can't say anything about game design unless I make my own game. But hey, wasting 30 minutes of my life because someone bungled an Octovine or Dragon's Stand lane is hardcore! Git gud, amirite?!

NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Not Tybalt! Not my furry little best friend. No! You all said the Order of the Whispers would give me the feels, but not like this :(. I'm new to guild wars and I chose the OOTW on my first character. I'm offically sad now :(. I didn't think any game could really give me the feels, let alone an MMO, but this one got me. What a great game.

Q: Can I mail gold and items to a Free to Play Account?

I'm a long-time veteran (since beta) and I'm doing map completion again at the moment. I run into a lot of new players and I enjoy sending them a surprise mail with a welcome and some gold to get them started out.

But I just realized that I'm not sure whether Free To Play accounts can even take the gold? Can I send bags to them and other items? Would they be able to use those? I know that they can't send them unless they're mutual friends but I'm not sure whether there are rules that apply in reverse for strangers with a full account.

The game hasn't told me that I can't do it but it would be a waste if I'm sending them this stuff and they can't actually do anything with it.

Raid Guide - Escort "All Up" Strategy - Chrono

Hey guys! My last raid guide received some good feedback, so I decided to make the other guide that I had planned. The following video shows my main raid static's preferred method for doing towers on Escort. We don't have a tower team; instead, we port all the non-essential team members up each time to insta-cap, which removes a lot of overhead.

Hi all, I've been playing quite a bit of pvp. Ive been mostly focusing on getting the backpack rather than ranking up. But ive gotten to gold so im really happy with that. So my question is what other class can i play? Ive mostly been playing condi necro and a bit of healer/aura support ele. So whats similar to either of those. But not completely useless. Ive tried both engi, ranger and warrior but i havent really succeeded much with any of them.

Sylvari Color Question

So, Im about to begin playing GW2 and I am going to make a Sylvari Elementalist. Going with what other NPC Sylvari in the game look like, is it wrong to go with blue/purple colours as oppose to the green, brown, or warm autumn colors? Or maybe even black or white?

Im a hobby PvP Player and I used to watch Chaiths Streams because he played Engi and i thought he was fine, today I checked out his Twitch and saw that his last "past broadcast" was in sept. of last year and his Twitter is not up to date anymore, his bio just says "retired" - also I cant find anything from the Team anymore.

So did he quit and if yes is there a reason in particular ?

PvP leaderboard needs improvement

The current PvP leaderboard shown in game is, at the very least, tedious to use. It's better than nothing but, unless you are top 250 and want to know your exact position, good luck finding someone there.

Today I wanted to look for a friend I played against, and after clicking next a thousand times, I started all over again because I thought I missed his name somewhere. Turns out he was around 1150, 300! rating behind me (nice matchmaking during night time, but that's another topic...).

So, here is my question / suggestion: is there any website (probably 3rd party) with a search function in the ladder? Would be posible to make one with current appi?
