What game mechanics from previous Civ games (Not V) would you want to make a return in Civ VI? Posted: 30 Jan 2017 04:11 AM PST For me, I know it's probably never going to happen, but I'd like to see the return of a built-in Play By Email system. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Jan 2017 08:10 AM PST I've played a lot of the Civilization series and have always used siege weapons in taking cities, especially in Civ V, but they seem less effective in the early part of the game in Civ VI. With only 10 more bombard strength than an archer and 5 more than a crossbowman, I can't bring myself to use the catapult. In saying this I do want to hear some opinions on the subject and would be curious to listen to someone who does use the catapult. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Jan 2017 08:30 AM PST [1] What are some nice settings that most people use. Have we found out the best amount of Civs per map to make it fair, or any tweaks for the same effect? [2] What changes bascially do people make, ya know like, to the AI, game start to make a more interesting game. [3] What are your game start strategies (I play on King). I normally throw out a scout, then a worker, a granary all the time bum rushing Stonehenge to start my religion quicker than the others EDIT: Sorry, CIV 6 [link] [comments]
Which units need to be buffed/nerfed? Posted: 29 Jan 2017 05:21 PM PST Buff: Spearmen. They are just bad right now. They do ok against Chariots, but they are about 50/50 against Horsemen. They need to win more then they lose against a unit that they are supposed to be a counter for. On top of that, they lose in a straight up fight against Warriors. Yes, guys wielding bronze weapons and armor and utilizing better tactics (I assume) lose to a bunch of guys with stone hammers and loincloths. They should be at least 50/50, but ideally should be better. No unit that needs to be researched should lose to a unit that you get by default. Nerf: War Carts. Anyone who has played online knows the power of this unit. Available from the beginning, cheaper than Chariots, stronger, faster, and no weakness to anti-cavalry. I think that the only thing that fundamentally needs to change is the availability. Make it so that you need to learn The Wheel tech before you can build them, and everything else is still good, but not completely OP. Which unit(s) do you think need buffs or nerfs? 【CivVI】It still bothers me that archeological museum has dinosaur skeleton displayed in front of it Posted: 29 Jan 2017 03:44 PM PST which makes it more of a natural history/paleontological museum than an archeological one. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Jan 2017 09:57 AM PST Hello, i have been playing Civ VI and love the feel of the new game, but feel it lacks depth. And i have been trying to identify why i feel that is. First i think that its way way to easy to "grab land" and build wide. I have never had any problems with amenities, and this system does virtually nothing to combat wide play. Personally i think it would be great to tie in the Government or Eras into the number of cities you can control. Fx, in Chiefdom government you could have 2 cities, and possibly extend that to 3-4 with cards. this would limit how wide you could go in early game, and in my opinion the early game is over in a flash, so this could possibly be used to pace out the game better. so instead of the first 1500 years go by in 200 turns and the next 300 years in another 200 it could possibly be 400 for the first 1500. Another thing i would love to have implemented is to be able to have city states join your empire. For me i see no reason to conquer city states except to free up space or get the land it was on. I have an idea that if you conquer a city state you could gain some of the bonuses of the city state, this could possibly scale by era too. Fx in ancient era you would only get first bonus, while in medieval era you would get first 2, but at no time could you get suzerain bonus from conquering (unless this could be leader trait ? ). Or if you have been the city states suzerain for X number of turns you could invite the city state to join your empire. for this i would say you would get the city and the suzerain bonus of the city state for your empire but not the other bonuses. And to join your empire the city state would require either gold/religion/or some city production currency. In real world there are not many "city states" any more i would say(maybe Luxembourg), So i would say the city states joining empires in later game was a realistic representation of history. Well :) that got out of hand... but just some ideas... If any modder wants to steal the idea then please do so :) [link] [comments]

Civ V vet, recently picked up VI and am...confused Posted: 30 Jan 2017 09:44 AM PST I've put hundreds of hours into V but only bought VI last week. I've played a few games now and I have to wonder who tested this? Sure it runs ok but the AI is just god awful, it's worse than the previous games by far! I've been playing on king to ease into it and every single time no matter what the AI hates me for no reason. The whole game is an endless cycle of random denouncements and war. But the AI is terrible at war so they just walk troops into mine, lose it all and sue for peace later. Worse if I take territory during a defensive war I'm the warmonger. Another odd thing is industry. Perhaps I'm just not getting it but even with plenty of industrial zones I can't seem to build anything near the industrial powerhouses I'm used to from civ V. Even reasonably developed cities can take 20+ turns to build a unit and way more for buildings and wonders. Am I doing something wrong or are cogs underwhelming compared to hammers? There's a bunch of other niggling things that don't seem to gel right but those are the main two bug bears. Has there been any announcements about this in terms of patches? [link] [comments]
Ananse's BFG Modpack changed CIV VI for me! Posted: 30 Jan 2017 09:21 AM PST There has been a lot of critisism on CIV VI so far. Not very strange when you consider the complete game CIV V has become over the years with all its additional content. I've tried out nearly every mod/modpack that came out for CIV VI so far just to see what it would do for the game. However, last night I stumbled upon Ananse's BFG Modpack and holy crap. I'm only on turn 120 but so far this modpack sorta "fixed" CIV VI for me. Since I haven't seen any real promotion for this pack yet I figured I would share it with everyone here :). Enjoy! [Civ VI] 1535 AD settling the mars before kongo knows how to bongo Posted: 30 Jan 2017 09:12 AM PST i just managed to get a turn 218 Science Vicorty(1535 AD) at standard speed without using mods, cheats or abusing bugs. it was my second try to achieve an early as possible science Victory and eventhought i think, that an impromvent of ca. 20 turns is possible with a perfekt seed, i'm courious to know which strategy you guys have and which the fasted is. i allready looked on civfanatics, but those seem to be on old patches and i don't know if they still work [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Jan 2017 08:17 AM PST One of my major complaints right now is the viability of civs. You can't play multiplayer without Rome/ Germany / China / Russia / Gorgo (assuming you've banned Sumeria). I like the Azteks, but I am confused why the Eagle warriors don't have any chance to capture workers from Barbarians. Similar civ perks, like Gorgo's culture, work on barbarians, and help her to be top tier. Eagle Warriors depend on some luck that you start near a civ or city state to take advantage. When you can take advantage its super OP - you seem to get a worker from every kill. I have been in games where you have more workers than you know what to do with. Wouldn't it be better if the chance of getting a worker was scaled back (say to 40%), but it worked on barbs too? I don't think it would be too overpowered and it certainly wouldn't make Monte super tier. [link] [comments]
I'm getting really bored of Civ VI but I can't go back to Civ V's stacked cities. Posted: 29 Jan 2017 03:06 PM PST It's hard to even play any of the civ games because once I got Civ VI I got used to unstacked cities and now it's hard to go back to V but I get super bored from Civ VI. Civ VI Liberation War: which city am I supposed to liberate? Posted: 29 Jan 2017 08:48 PM PST I am in a large game, and as soon as I researched Diplomatic Service, I gained Liberation War Casus Belli on Gorgo. Here's the thing: I have no idea which city I am supposed to liberate. I am allied with Japan, which is right next to Gorgo, but none of their cities is captured by Gorgo. I am the suzerein of all the city states around Gorgo, and they are all intact. How can I know which city I am supposed to liberate? I am planning to declare war and plunder Gorgo's trade routes and districts of other cities before liberating that city. [link] [comments] |
