Are we going to learn Sword Techniques and other kinds of Combat Abilities?

Posted: 30 Jan 2017 12:05 AM PST

So, in this gameplay video, the player paused and show us the Control options where you can change your Jump button, invert the camera and other stuff. There was, however, something that caught my eye (mostly because I haven't seen anyone mention it), and it was a section called "Ability Controls". When I read that I tought it was simply an explanation or tutorial on how to execute certain not-so-basic actions for Link. But then the player selected the option and this screen appeared.

This looks like we're going to learn diferent combat abilities (or maybe not even combat but just abilities like better cooking, pro-climbing or something) during the game. It reminds me a lot from the sword techniques menu in Minish Cap. So what do you guys think (or know) about this?

I played Breath of the Wild at Toronto Switch Event

Posted: 29 Jan 2017 06:59 PM PST

Was quite good. I only had like 20 minutes or so to play it though. You start at the beginning of the game and do the first little bit where you wake up and activate the first tower. I ran into a Guardian on my way to the first shrine and died right away. Whoops. Quite fun, can't wait for March 3.

It isn't even out yet and BOTW's Soundtrack is already a classic.

One small thing that I don't understand in Twilight Princess.....

How come the Shadow Beasts are shown to have incredible agility and strength in the cutscene where Zant takes over Hyrule Castle, but in the main game, the Shadow Beasts move at the speed of molasses?

So what happened to Zelda after the century in BotW???

Posted: 29 Jan 2017 11:26 PM PST

So we will clearly have flashback/memory sequences and cutscenes of Link and Zelda leading up to Link's placement in the resurrection chamber. Link wakes up 100 years later. Has anyone else wondered what happened to Zelda? Will we see her in the current Hyrule and if so, she's not going to be an old lady... did she put herself in a similar stasis until Link's awakening also? She would have to, otherwise she would have aged over the century. She's communicating to Link through the Sheikah Slate. Are these pre-recordings? Where is she? Is she the light along with the pillars in the castle keeping Ganon at bay? Is the voice of whoever says "save my daughter" referring to after Link wakes up meaning she IS in the castle?

Poe sound in BoTW off the plateau demo? Ft. Chiko

Posted: 29 Jan 2017 10:11 PM PST

At 1:53 seconds in this video, the glowing sprite thing passes Link on the left side of the screen as he sneaks up to the horse. As it passes, what sounds like the Poe chain sound plays; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Hjlnvs1nt8&feature=youtu.be&t=1m53s

what do you think?

Edit: it, not is. Edit 2: It's a Korok, my bad.

Any words on towns/NPCs in BotW?

Posted: 29 Jan 2017 10:01 PM PST

I am not up to speed on all the gameplay videos and interviews but has anyone seen or heard about any of the towns/villages with NPCs (outside of Hyrule)? There seems to be a few NPCs scattered about but mostly by themselves but I guess I am mostly referring to areas like clock town, windfall island, kakariko etc...

The game is taking a lot of cues from the first Zelda but I hope they don't get rid of the concept of towns/villages, those things really bring life to the game.
