Random encounter idea: Possessed Highwayman Posted: 24 Dec 2016 05:58 AM PST There have been old campfire stories of how certain individuals survived being attacked by possessed cars, ranging from lone travelers to members of caravans. The Description of the car in these stories is eerily consistent, A Chrysalis Highwayman, evidently pre-war but unlike the rusting hulks and beaters seen in the wasteland, this was no jalopy. It's been described to be in perfect condition, as if it never aged all those years. Another consistent detail is that there is always no driver in the car and it appears to be driving by itself. Almost as if it were possessed. This experience usually left an imprint on those who survived it, causing them to repeat the highwayman's slogan, in a more sinister light: "Nothing can stop a Highwayman. . . NOTHING!" you would encounter this car in the middle of the night though in this random encounter it will catch you off guard since the car will randomly appear without warning. Usually the player will hear the sound of an engine revving in the distance and after a random amount (and following a set of illuminated skidmarks that leads to a caravan that was evidently run over) of time it will come charging from out of nowhere straight towards the player and when it gets close enough, it vanishes in a white flash of light (with a very quick color inverted flashing image of the front of a highwayman mangled to look like the face of a monster). This encounter can even occur in fog or in radiation storms , but in those cases if you look behind you the headlights will be the first indicator that it's coming after you. Sometimes if the player looks behind them just before the charge, they can actually set it in the distance, parked menacingly at them. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 Dec 2016 02:08 PM PST I was thinking (if) obsidian were to make a new fallout game if instead of exploring a new location, the game would take place in a much different time frame then we are used to. Personally I would like to see a game that takes place only a few years after the great war and be able to see all of these huge factions coming into power. [link] [comments] |

[FO4] Any YouTubers in here use Shadowplay for their Let's Play? Posted: 24 Dec 2016 09:47 PM PST No self promotion, just a quick question: I'm using Shadowplay's fps rate of 60 and bitrate of 50. The quality is great but I get audio-visual desync which is most obvious on longer episodes and where there are cutscenes with NPCs. I can use handbrake to fix the audio but that is a pain in the ass, frankly. I'd rather have perfect audio-visual sync. I was wondering if recording in 30 fps (even if my game is 60 fps) would fix this desync issue? Any feedback from experienced users is welcome. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 Dec 2016 09:41 PM PST A few weeks ago I posted a short non-biased survey asking what people liked about the Fallout series. I'd like to update you all on the progress: So far, 969 people have responded. I'm getting a lot of good data and I can't wait to share it with you all! I run a small web design company, so I've been busy working on client websites, but in my free time I've been building a small Laravel app to display the results and give API access to it. My goal is to get at least 1,000 responses so I have a large data pool. If you haven't yet given filled out the survey, the link is below. Thank you all that have responded so far! Survey: Link Edit: Several people have mentioned that I should make a survey asking about lore and what people know about the series. If someone doesn't beat me to it, consider it done soon! Why were vaults always located in crummy locations? Posted: 24 Dec 2016 01:52 PM PST This is something that always bothered me in the 3d games. Weren't vaults advertised as being for societies elite? And then they stuck the entrances in the back of shacks and inside of caves? "Hiding them" is not good enough of an answer to me. I would imagine billboards pointing out their directions and yellow brick roads leading to them. Pisses me off. actually tbh i dont care too much [link] [comments] |

New Vegas Crashing after mods Installed (Long Post) Posted: 24 Dec 2016 08:59 PM PST Hey guys, so I just installed NVSE and Project Nevada onto my New Vegas game and shortly afterwards it has completely stopped working. I've already logged 100+ hours through steam with mods before this happened. To be specific: I installed NVSE and the 4GB version last night and launched to check the version through the ~ key at the main menu and it worked fine. I had version 5, I was pretty excited. Then, I downloaded Project Nevada which was taking awhile so I let it download while I went out with some friends. Once I got back it was completely downloaded and I installed it through Nexus. But it wouldnt launch now. I assumed something went wrong with Project Nevada so I removed it from my load order on Nexus, but the problem still remained. Afterwards, I tried launching the game from my backup EXE and I got prompted that I was missing a few DLL's (steam_api.dll, binkw32.dll, and 1 more that I can't recall). These DLL's are already in my New Vegas folder, but I download new ones and added them back into my New Vegas anyways to see and still nothing. Next, I checked the compatibility for all the EXE's and switched them all to Windows Service Pack 3 for Windows 10 and run as Admin and that hasn't helped either. So I decided to check the cache integrity on Steam and it said two files are missing and they will be reacquired. I did it again and it said one file is missing now. I can't really tell what this option is doing, if it is downloading something or not. It doesn't really say. Ultimately, I decided to reinstall the game and start everything all over, but the same issues are happening. I'm not a computer whiz and don't know how mods/Nexus affect reinstalls. It is very hard to describe what is wrong with New Vegas because I don't get a specific message. I only receive generic "Failed to start" messages. So I'll do my best to explain what happens. The Launch Issue: When I click the Fallout New Vegas launcher (the original one after my reinstall, not the 4GB/NVSE launcher) Steam tells me it is preparing to launch the game. Then I get an Admin box asking if I want it to make changes to the app, if I say no it aborts the whole thing immediately so I say yes. Then the launch menu pops up followed immediately by the "Failed to Start" message. If I click the 4BG version it asks if I want to make changes again and I select yes. Then I get a small loading game box with a sliding green bar. The screen goes black and changes resolution for the game and I see the first slide during the default opening for New Vegas with the Trademarks in front of the Mojave. Then I am presented with another "Failed to Start" message or "Stopped Responding." Other games on Steam seem to work fine and I cleared the Download Cache as well, but nothing is working. Any help would be appreciated. TL;DR Installed NVSE and 4GB, New Vegas ran fine. Installed Project Nevada shortly after and everything is fucked. [link] [comments] |
Help with a Serial Killer build for Fallout New Vegas? Posted: 24 Dec 2016 09:51 AM PST I want to play a Serial Killer in Fallout New Vegas, but not just any Serial Killer a Proffesional Serial Killer. He uses knives, Wears suits and is quite charismatic. Any ideas? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 Dec 2016 08:24 PM PST In Fallout lore, it's implied that Horses in america are believed to have gone extinct, but imagine if that wasn't the case. Imagine coming across a rare mutant animal known as rad-stallion, that being a mutated descendant of a horse. like radstags and Gezelles, they wont be hostile creatures but however, they cannot be ridable due to their two heads. is anything that you do in-game cannon? Posted: 24 Dec 2016 07:58 PM PST How do the stories in fallout stay with the lore? which endings are supposed to happen? Or does it even matter? Example of what i'm talking about: Star Wars the Force Unleashed has 2 endings, the good and bad ending and the good ending is the correct for the second game. [link] [comments] |

Asking for some clarification on console mods Posted: 24 Dec 2016 07:25 PM PST Hi everyone. I've been meaning to install some mods on my Xbox One, but I'm concerned about locking out my achievements. I've read somewhere that installing mods don't disable them permanently, that it creates a new save/character? I'm hoping you guys can clarify this for me. [link] [comments] |
