Sorry about this guys! I can't access the mod account at the moment or I would post from there.
That being said, there is a holiday event! It's official!.
For those who can't click the link here's what's happening:
  • For a a time you'll get a one use incubator from poke stops to hatch eggs that you pick up in order to help you hatch more of the johto babies. These babies have a higher hatch rate than normal for this event.
  • Kanto starters and their evolutions will be showing up more often.
  • Lures last 60 mins during this event
  • Santa Chu will be around as well.
  • incubator and baby Pokémon is starting from Dec.25 to Jan.3
  • Kanto starters is from Dec.30-Jan.8
Thanks for all the users who have been trying to help the sub stay updated.

[Discussion] Yes, we all wanted double xp or candy. Yes, it would make this event more exciting. But personally I think we expect too much of Niantic. Not meeting hype expectations will make people stop playing the game, but at least Niantic is still giving us an event!

Obligatory - Lurker, casual PokémonGo player, sorry for bad English
My goal is to present ideas that are realistic for Niantic's business model and on the same time expand the longtime Pokémon GO players' experience.
Part 1, Buddy Abilities
All Pokémon's have a secret passive, similar to abilities from other Pokémon games. The Pokémon's ability would activate when you get your first (new) candy by walking your buddy Pokémon. * This would make more Pokémons worthwhile buddies, and make for a better gameplay overall.
Examples:
  • Pickup (Meowth etc.) + 50 % chance to receive 1 additional item when spinning a pokemonstop.
  • Brawler (Fighting types etc.) 20 % bonus prestige when training gyms.
  • Compound eyes (Venonath etc.) expose disguised pokemon (ditto)
  • Caretaker (Chansey) Heal all your Pokémon by 10 hp for every kilometer walked.
  • Magnetic pull (Magnemite etc.) decrease wild pokemons flee rate.
  • Sweet scent (Oddish etc.) Lure grass/bugg types Pokémon. (In practice it would work like one bonus "incense" spawn about once an hour) +Sameish skill for other Pokémon types.
  • Hypnotic (Drowsee) Small chance to find Pokémon asleep, can't jump or attack until it wakes up (bonus idea for a new berry)

I walked around 7km today, and was able to hatche 2 x 5km (Two Incubators) and a 2km egg after, perfectly. Not even .1km was missed.
Yes, the battery drain is ridiculous, my watch died after 4 hours (Gen 1 Watch) and the Heart Rate sensor keeps starting up everytime I get a notification for Pokemon/Pokestops, even though I've enabled Battery Saver, but the perfect km tracking, more than makes up for it.
I can't wait to see what happens when I play Football (Soccer, for the Americans).
It's simply amazing and has given me a reason to actually spend coins on Incubators.
So, thanks Niantic!

Like, I reply to one freaking text message and 90% of the time, I go right back to the game only to have to wait for it to load. The other 10%, I minimize the game, check the weather, answer and email, and watch some NSFW videos, go back to the game and it's still running. What gives?

I'm now sitting on 160 evolutions-to-be, in the hope that there will be some sort of double XP event this holidays. I've had to upgrade my storage and transfer weaklings. I'm as miserable as a very pregnant and overdue woman can be.
