PSA to new players: You aren't a hybrid

I see a lot of low CP players queue as healer/dps or healer/tank for vet pledges. Just because you have 2-3 healing abilities slotted doesn't make you a healer. You need to queue as your primary role. Hybrids don't work in endgame content.

If I'm a dps, I need to spend the majority of my mana dealing damage. If I'm self healing most of the time, I won't have mana left to deal damage. I rely on my healer to keep me alive, and if the healer is a hybrid, they won't be able to do that.

So for the first time today I was playing ESO, I was afraid it was going to be a waste of money based on the bad wrap it gets. As I begin to play I realize that this game d the best MMO I've played. It's like OG Runescape with better graphics and the Oblivion Vibe. How in the world could anyone think this is a bad game?

I've been back for a couple weeks now and is it me or has the meta changed. All i see or get complained about is I'm not at 50/60/70k health. I'm usually around 31k health and 25k stam . I have many sets my main set is tavas and lord warden, ebon, blood spawn, his bark, footman, armor master whistrakes etc... But ppl are telling me that leeching sets and running tons of health is the way to go.

I guess my questions is has the meta changed. Or is this just another shift in the way community on Xbox wants tanks to run. I just don't see the group benefit in running high health tanks. But I could be wrong.

Loving ESO for not being like WoW

I've bought ESO for the Xbox One in the last sale, because i was interested in the One Tamriel update and finally got the first the chance to play it, since the beta.

I love to go everywhere i want to go, the crafting system, the voice-over for the quest, the gathering, Cyrodiil as pvp zone, the christmas/new years event and espacially the pickpocketing. Just being a citizen of the world, not the gearlevel 1000 player #107.842 in the raid #29, to farm enough gearscore to get to the raid #30 in the next update.

Yesterday i got ESO Plus for the monthly ingame currency and the crafting bag with unlimited space. I just love the game for not being like WoW and all the f2p/p2p clones, never had so much fun with an mmo since Star Wars Galaxies, before the NGE update, that destroy the game.

There are just a few things I miss, for example a image designer guild. ;)

A motif for Christmas

I have been looking to get the Trinimac chest piece motif for some time as a gift for someone important to me, I look at a lot of guild stores daily and do the quest to get it but I've had no luck. Since Christmas is tomorrow I'm running out of time and would love to give it to them for Christmas. A couple of quick champion system questions from a new player!

I am pretty much bran new to ESO coming from playing WoW since beta.

I have a couple of quick questions that I cannot seem to find the answers too!

I want to run a sorcerer stamina tank; I dont like the look/feel of the dragon knight. I am planning on Red Guard as my race for the stamina passives or possibly High Elf because I love the look.

My question is this; is high elf viable for the magic passives or does that take away from the over all effectiveness because ESO seems to me to be very single stat-centric.

My second question is about the champion system; what level can you max your champion points? Also, is it possible on a single character because I hate running/leveling alts...

Also, any pointers would be extremely welcome! I feel overwhelmed with content right now hahaha! That is a good thing.

Zenimax, Please Give Us Separate Audio Sliders For Pets and Mounts

I just spent a lot of money on some pets and mounts because I thought they looked cool. I couldn't wait to try them out. However to my enormous disappointment, they are just TOO DAMN LOUD. For example, the badger makes the scattering sound every three seconds, and the Mind-Shriven Horse HOLY SHIT it is so loud whenever it neighs when you summon and jump. I regret spending any money on these. As cool as they look, they are way too annoying to keep around and use. I wish there was a way to significantly turn down the sound of pets and mounts without turning down ambiance and other sound effects.

So, Zenimax, if you are here at all please give us separate audio sliders for pets and mounts!

Should I be doing every quest in the game?

Just a quick question regarding questing. I've noticed there are a ton of quests in the game, both main story and side quests, but do I need to be doing every single one of them to level up effectively?

Sometimes I find myself in a single zone for what seems like an eternity and whilst the voice acting is a great bonus for any MMO there are many quests that are quite tedious to complete and/or read the journal for. I feel like I want to explore new areas of the map but the burden of uncompleted quests hangs over me.

Perhaps there's particular quests I should be focusing on? Running a templar tank if that helps in any way.

Hilarious bit of irony during "Shrine of Corruption"

During the quest in Eastmarch, "Shrine of Corruption", you have to convince a group of soldiers that you aren't a witch. However, the only way to do this is to use the [Persuade] option, unlocked by joining the Mages Guild. So essentially, you are a witch, and you are using a power unlocked by being a witch to convince them that you aren't a witch. I thought that was pretty funny.

Unsure how to play dps

I was in a dungeon with a group and the tank got pissed at me. He had the boss in front and I was doing circles around the boss trying to bring the pain. He went off on me asking why I insist on being in front when I'm not a tank. He was pretty pissed. And I'm unsure why. Maybe I don't understand my role of a dps then. Khajit NB dw.

[PS4] - Setting to see time left on active buffs/debuffs

As the title says, I was wondering if there was a setting on the PS4 version to see how long is left on buffs, active abilities etc?

It's getting a little tedious to have to look at my swords every 5 seconds to see of igneous weapons needs to be recast!

[Discussion] Colorblind mode?

Hi again everyone,

I was wondering if ZOS ever said anything about a colorblind mode? I am not colorblind myself but i am having trouble seing telegraphs most of the time (red on green backgroud is aweful, especially with grass, or the 2nd arena in MA).

Also is there an addon, reshader or whatever that can make the red pop out more, or change the color of telegraphs entirely? Cheers

Stamplar Imperial City Build Questions

Hi Guys, need some advice. I am looking to make a build for IC solo / small group play. I realize Black Rose is pretty much the meta atm, but in order to get BR set I apparently need to farm IC :\

Here were my thoughts:

  1. Run medium 2H / Bow build using Eternal Hunt 5 piece and build around that (probably Velidreth's and agility set).

  2. Run heavy 2H / 1H shield build using...> ???? Is ravager / durok's bane set viable? I need some advice here.

Any stamplar IC advice would be much appreciated!

BTW I'm an Orc.

[PS4] [Discussion] Can we have discussion/advice about preparing a character for endgame?

Hi guys.

I've been playing around 2~ months, and I'm still in the dark about a lot of end game content and progression. I hit level 50 about a week ago, and by now I've made it up to CP 116. As far as end game progression goes, I really don't understand what I should be doing to maximize progression, and I'm sure there are other players that wonder this as well.

Google searches on the topic just bring up old forums from 2014 and guides that say: "Here, to do anything you need all this BiS gear but we won't explain how to get them or progress to them.", so that's why I'm making this post. Let's talk/discuss!

So to summarize, I'm interested in talking about: What to do when you hit 50? Good ways to find gear/progress your character after level 50 in preparation for hitting CP160. Preparing for PVP in Cyrodiil? I'm interested in the Maelstrom Arena. How to get started? Any other advice veteran players might have for a fresh level 50 player.

Not a min-maxer, but is levelling pure a DK Stam Tank crazy?

Hi all,

Relatively new player here. Main is 27 StamSorc. I play tanks in other MMOs and want to make a walking shield to better learn combat, group and dungeon mechanics, so I've now got a level 14 Imperial Stam DK with 1H+Shield.

I know "builds" are only really applicable to end-game, but in any case I can't find any DK stam tank builds that focus on blocking/soaking damage - they're all about ALSO dealing damage or ALSO providing group-utility. Not "pure" tanks in my mind.

So far I've been assigning every skill point towards the most "tanky" skill available to me at the time. Before I go too far and end up having to respec, I just want to know am I mad trying to level up this way, to do quests and tank dungeons?

  • I know that I'll do less damage than if I used another weapon/skill line.
  • I know that I'll have more survivability than I would possibly ever need for pre-50 PvE content.
  • Not a min-maxer, but am I basically going to be torturing myself trying this?

Lastly, and totally out of left-field... how do pure tanks fair in group PvP? Can I be a damage sponge and annoyance to anyone, or like other games will people ignore me, kill everyone around me, and then beat me down in a war of attrition knowing that I alone probably won't be able to kill anyone?
