I have been playing with some friends who are new to the game recently and while they are learning I want to practice my micro skills. I'm just not sure who would be good to learn with. I want to specifically learn heroes that have to control more than one unit.
Obviously each hero would be different but it's more about the initial controlling more than one unit at a time and not derping with it more than mastering one specific hero at this point. Once I get the basics down I can really focus on one.
Chen, Enchantress, Nature's Prophet, Lycanthrope, Broodmother, Meepo, Terrorblade, Phantom Lancer, Naga Siren, Visage, Lone Druid. Broodmother, Lycanthrope and Nature's Prophet have summons, so they're somewhat disposable,
weak units. Chen and Enchantress can take over jungle creeps and use them. Meepo goes from 1 Meepo into 2/3/4/5 with Aghanim's Scepter and his Ultimate. Terrorblade , Phantom Lancer, and Naga Siren summon hordes of illusions, which are even more
disposable than summons, and have the added benefits of being able to
fake out opponents and carry auras like Radiance. Visage's ultimate summons 2
bird... things, that make up a lot of his power. He's a bit more of a
special case. Oh, and then there's Lone Druid, with his bear, he's sort
of like 2 heroes. Lots of options.
The most
forgiving to learn micro with would be Lone Druid. Since your bear is
worth the same amount of gold as a kill you need to protect him a bit,
and he should be getting of of the items so he will also be your main
source of damage. He is quite tanky so he wont go down that easily
though, and most low level games wont harass the bear that much. Other
than that Lycanthrope and Phantom Lancer are good ones to start with as well because if
your micro fails you can still beast with them.
For
starters, Beastmaster is a good idea. You'll have a Hawk providing
solely some vision and a Boar that does some damage and applies a slow.
Two conceptually easy units that should help you practice controlling
multiple units and will also improve your map awareness (Hawk is pretty
awesome).
