| [META] Rule2: temporary thightening the rule on screenshots Posted: 07 May 2018 08:19 AM PDT Last month there was a trial period for testing the relaxing of rule 2 (see previous thread for why we had rule 2b and what's been going on these past 3 weeks). What's nextFrom the feedback received we garner a certain desire for a thightening of the rule and so we want to start a new trial period. One where rather than relax, we thighten rule 2b. This means that for the next 10 days:

| Started to play again 2 weeks ago... Posted: 07 May 2018 12:16 PM PDT ... and went from level 12 to 23 1/2. Also I walked an average of 11000 steps in the past 7 days and feel much better since I walk so much. Before I had maybe 1500 steps a day. Another good thing is that I have much more IRL contact with the friend I usually play with. [link] [comments] | ||

| Why are decent spawns so rare? Posted: 07 May 2018 08:33 PM PDT I feel like one of the most neglected features of this game is simply walking around and catching Pokemon. People talk for days about eggs, raids, gyms, and events, but are forgetting that the core of any Pokemon game is finding Pokemon. And to be honest, that is where this game lacks the most. Some of my fondest memories of this game are hurrying around frantically to find rare Pokemon on my tracker. And while those days may be no more due to the new nearby tracker, it still would be nice to stumble upon something rare every once in a while, even if it shows up on next to a Pokestop on the tracker. Unfortunately, I don't think I've had an experience like those I've described in ages. I haven't seen a wild Snorlax since early 2017. I've still never seen a wild Lapras, Dragonite, or freaking Larvitar (not to mention Unown). I had great joy trying to triangulate my first Lickitung (even though it took me 4 tries to actually find and catch one), but I haven't seen one outside of raids since the Valentine's event last year. What harm would it do to increase the diversity of spawns a little bit so that I don't see Sentrets, Taillows, Pidgeys, etc. everywhere I look? I feel like one of the biggest counterarguments against this is that it would make rare Pokemon too easy to acquire and ruin the longevity of the game. However, Niantic have shown repeatedly that they're fine with making "good" or "rare" Pokemon as common as Weedles. For almost a year, the only way to get legendaries was through raids. For a lot of players in active communities, raiding is trivially easy. Supposedly "rare" Pokemon such as Snorlax, Lapras, Porygon, and Tyranitar also became raid bosses, which can all be easily beaten with 1-4 trainers. If I can go do a raid and catch a Snorlax whenever I want, would it kill the game to also make it possible to find one every ~10 hours of gameplay? Rare candies also decimate the argument that Pokemon like Dratini, Bagon, and Larvitar need to be kept rare. I can do a tier 3 raid in 10 minutes and get 3-4 rare candies, so would it really hurt for me to run into a Dratini more than once a month? Plus, we have community day and other events (namely the failed water and rock events) that made certain Pokemon ridiculously common. What effect will buffing the regular occurrence of these Pokemon have on the balance of the game (besides helping players who missed/joined after these events catch up)? The point is, I feel like improvements have been made to this game in so many areas except the wild spawns. Adding additional generations has just diluted the spawn pool, and the weather system is a serious step back (at least in my area, you'll only see the crappiest of whatever types are boosted by the weather, and they flood the spawn pool way worse than before the weather update). It's time we rewarded people for dropping lures and walking around again, not just driving from raid to raid. [link] [comments] | ||

| [Discussion] FYI: Mankey can be Ditto now Posted: 07 May 2018 07:55 AM PDT Just a heads up, as I haven't seen it reported on this sub-Reddit. Ditto can disguise itself as Mankey now. Hopefully, this helps some people who are trying to find Ditto during this event! [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 07 May 2018 10:03 PM PDT We have a lot of pokemon that are left thinking they are useless but actually so many of them are not. I would love your suggestions too about other mons who are so underrated with trainers only focusing on some of the mons which is actually boring to me. Here's some of them , Granbull: This guy is actually so good to battle with , his play rough is literally so fast and takes very less cool down time. Houndoom : he's very very good as a pokemon with that typing and the movesets Kingler : Amazing stats , he's extremely underrated he's such a good attacker Victrebell :An amazing poison attacker imo , so good to battle with her. Hitmonlee : Another extremely underrated mon , his low kick is a very speedy fast move and his low sweep is a very good charge move as well Absol : A bomb glass cannon requires some dodging though Banette : He's such an amazing ghost to use , especially with shadow claw. Cacturne : Absolutely love using him with dark-dark moveset and now another one with dark-grass moveset , he's such a good attacker.(requires some dodging at times) Donphan : Extremely underrated , Counter is such a good fast move to fight with and play rough is just perfect as a charge move with such a low cool down time. He's a powerhouse tbh. Magmar & Electabuzz : I know they are yet to get their evolutions , but even w/o they perform so so good , surely try them out , love usingthem already cant wait for gen 4 tho :p Porygon 2 : If you've ever used him i feel like he's such a good mid tanky attacker already and after getting his evolution he's gonna become much more amazing. Kabutops : Amazing attacker , love using him so much in battles. So fun playing with him tbh. Magneton : Very good attacker with such an amazing typing. I would love to know some more underrated pokemons that you guys use. These were my experiences using some of them. Ps : I know these mons are outclassed by other mons , dont bother telling me. These are just for people like me who love to use different other mons that actually go unused and who love to use variety in general battling. [link] [comments] | ||
| I saw another Pokémon Go player today Posted: 07 May 2018 06:00 PM PDT Today is the first time I've ever seen another Pokémon Go Player! Its also the first time I've ever taken down a Gym :D https://imgur.com/a/aXUX9dx its really encouraging to see that someone else still plays in Minnesota and it gives me new hope I can do a raid one day :) [link] [comments] | ||
| People with multiple accounts ruin the fun in this game Posted: 07 May 2018 03:51 AM PDT I'm pretty sure I'm notre the only one to bitch about this, but really people who play with multiple devices (==> multiple accounts) at the same time are simply a pain in the ass... And in many case scenarios : -Gyms : quick example, right now the closest gym from my house has 6 Pokemon in it, but in reality, one guy has 3 Pokemon in there from his 3 different accounts. And he's not even discreet about it, as the usernames are practically the same. -Raids : raids are a challenge. Here's a really strong Pokemon, you have to beat it. But if 2 players come with 3 devices, they can defeat any raid boss, ruining the communautary aspect of the game, and making others players who came here to try their best at beating the boss just realize they are useless since they deal 3 times less damage than this other guy who just happens to abuse the system. Even in raid groups, I bet most of you find it annoying when someone talks about coming to a raid and half the answers are "I'll be here with 2/3/4 accounts" ! -Abusing the system : the current system of gyms is pretty weird, we gotta admit it. If your Pokemon stays long enough in a gym, he'll reward you with coins when he's defeated. But if he's not defeated, you can miss your coins for the day. Well, not those guys. All they have to do it log in with another account from a different team and knock out their own Pokemon. Seeing those people make me sick of the game, whereas when I'm playing with people who play the game the way it is intended too, I have a lot of fun with them... [link] [comments] | ||
| What's the best job to have if you like to play this game? Posted: 07 May 2018 02:07 PM PDT I saw a police car driving slowly around the neighborhood and thought to myself...that's probably the best job to have if you like PoGO. Buy a Gotcha, plug the phone into the car, and cruise around all day long under 20 mph. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 07 May 2018 07:54 PM PDT What's your favorite way to play? Mine is: I go to school (college or uni as the Europeans say) at a school near a big city. They run a shuttle bus for us. It doesn't exceed 15 mph while on campus but does for the train station loop. Anyway sometimes my friends and I will get a pizza and some beers and spend a few hours mass hatching and grinding as we make numerous loops around campus. We can hop out if a raid is starting somewhere then get back on the bus. Best way to play. [link] [comments] | ||

| [QUESTION]Anyone else having an issue turning in day 7 stamp for field research? Posted: 07 May 2018 01:03 PM PDT I have been trying for the past hour to turn in multiple day 7 field research tasks for may 7th, to no avail. it even shows me the professor cutscreen, but then when i click on the "obtain reward" it doesnt send me to the catch zapdos event. done this 6 times now... cleared game data and cache too. dont know whats goin on [link] [comments] | ||
| Is there a reason to keep Tyrogue candy? Posted: 07 May 2018 06:06 PM PDT I have 12 Tyrogue, three each of the Hitmon family and 250 candies. Is there a reason to keep the candies or should I evolve and send them all to the professor? [link] [comments] | ||
| Which Pokémon that hasn’t been part of an event / day do you think is in desperate need of one? Posted: 07 May 2018 06:19 AM PDT It could be merely because they're rare or it could be due to how iconic they are, let me know. [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 07 May 2018 01:46 PM PDT With Generation 4 around the corner and Pokemon that have been featured for community day have been from the 10km egg group would it really be a surprise if we get Porygon for the next community day? I think Niantic will swap between Gen 1 and Gen 2 for community day except for the starters. Just like it swapped from featuring Dratini to Mareep. It would be too soon for them to feature a Generation 3 Pokemon so we shouldn't expect Pokemon like Ralts or Bagon to be featured this year. Porygon is a rare spawn that has sneaky potential to be a good Pokemon once it's Generation 4 release comes out with Porygon-Z. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 07 May 2018 10:03 PM PDT I'm posting this as the last posts from my area have been more than a year ago so I was wondering if anyone here is from the el paso area near the Zoo or chamizal that was looking to team up on raids? I'm a level 27 [link] [comments] | ||
| Returning player - what's the best way to get steps in? Posted: 07 May 2018 09:29 PM PDT Haven't played since the game was new, other than a brief return when they introduced the legendary birds.
