Posted: 01 Sep 2018 05:45 PM PDT Well, this may get downvoted (because perhaps it is more common that I thought) but I just want to tell this story to you guys. Yesterday, I came back from 1.5 year hiatus from pokemon go, because I want to pair morning walk (new routine) with playing it. I immediately saw lots of raids in my towns which are out of my solo capability, so I started seeking communities. There is a community I found in my local neighborbood. They are alive, thriving, and very active. One issue though... They are all spoofers. And in the group they frequently discusses which areas to raid, spoofing rules (so as not to get banned), and such. For example, in the last Yokosuka event they managed to sneak in the outskirts of it to get some beldum (they said its dangerous to spoof there directly). Apparently, they all use what its called 'flyer phones' which are phones ready to fly straight out of the box (with proper applications ready) and it is being sold freely. This... Leaves a bit of a disappointment, as I sought communities to raid together with, physically. Instead, I found a community so entrenched with their own spoofing that they almost fully neglect the actual physical playing in the neighborhood. I admit that I live in rural area and theres not much pokemon here. Anyway, if Niantic reads this, I would suggest doubling/tripling the spoof softban requirement so that even though they can play, they will be severely debiliated by the limitations. | Today I completed my hunt for a shiny Kabuto! Posted: 01 Sep 2018 04:53 PM PDT Hey guys! I just wanted to share a story with you! My story is a long one, so be warned! So it starts about two weeks ago. I am driving back from work in the afternoon when I notice a Kabuto is at a local pokestop. "Neat", I think. Though very rare for my area, I decide it's not worth the effort to drive out of my way to get. The next day is the same deal. I am driving home and I see it again. "Hm", I think. It is very unlikely that a Kabuto would spawn in the same place two days in a row. Then it hit me. I think I might have a nest on my hands! Now to preface this a bit, I had no idea that there were even nests this close to me, let alone one that contained one of my top 3 yet to be obtained shinies. So on the third day, I went to check it out. And sure enough, I pull up to the spot, a local park, and I'm greeted with several Kabuto. This is awesome! In no time I'm walking at the park every day, sometimes multiple times a day. But (pun 100% intended), it was no walk in the park. Most days were upwards of 95 degrees F (35 degrees C) and I'd be out there for hours. I even started to go there on my lunch breaks, in fear that the nest would change before I had the chance to put in a real effort. Despite the obvious blisters, sore feet, and sweat drenching, I was still very much determined - even though the thought of actually finding the shiny was something of a fantasy. So to keep grounded, I would make little challenges to stay motivated. The most obvious of these was to catch as many Kabuto as possible. Then from that came searching for the highest CP possible, the best IVs, so on so forth. I kept looking at all those brown-shelled Kabutos and thought, "imagine if that had been shiny". Then came today. This time I brought my dog along because she loves walks. Even though it is not actually raining, it is in Pokemon Go, so I know very well that means weather boost. I feel like I have overstayed my welcome and I can see that my dog is getting pretty tired too. I decide to make one last loop through the park. There is a little trail that winds through the woods and opens up to a kind of mountainous scene. At the threshold between the two, another Kabuto spawns. IT'S GREEN. I audibly gasp as I fumble around to try to catch it. I play on an iPhone, so I ineptly try and fail to swipe from the bottom of the screen to activate screen capture. Instead, a pokeball is thrown. It missed. Thank god. Though Kabuto is generally very easy to catch, I have had a good few run away. There was no way I was using just a pokeball on this. I am not taking any risks. A gold razz berry and an ultra ball is my standard for shinies. I try once again to activate screen capture. Not only did I throw another pokeball by accident, but this time, it hit. My heart sank as I watched the ball shake. I was dreading that it would break out and flee. But none of that happened somehow. That awful throw with a just an ordinary pokeball caught the shiny Kabuto I had been working so hard for. Although weather boosted, the CP was low and the IVs were not great. But none of that mattered, because I got what I came for. After 349 Kabuto seen, my hunt for shiny Kabuto had come to an end. Bar none this was the hardest Pokemon I have ever worked for in GO. | Posted: 01 Sep 2018 10:24 AM PDT Some neckbeard in my town spends every waking hour using six phones with six accounts and constantly holds every gym in town with 6x 3k+ CP Pokemon. My strongest push maybe 2300-2500 CP. The other day I burned through my potions and finally took over a gym, only to have him show up four minutes later, knock me out, and put all six back in. I essentially traded all of my potions and a few revives for 1 pokecoin. I don't spend money on this game any more. It's frustrating that this brat with six phones runs this town and there's nothing I can do about it. Has anyone seen a situation like this? How did you deal with it, or does it still persist? Posted: 01 Sep 2018 01:42 PM PDT In the last 2 years there has been a lot of developing in my town and that includes a few statues and parks, and it still feels wrong to be needing to still travel 5-10km in between Pokestops. I understand ingress exists but it's simply not a game I can get into like PoGo, and I don't want to waste time playing a game I don't enjoy. Has Niantic said anything about this recently?
