Scary Espeon

Espeon, Umbreon, and Vaporeon were my favorite Eeveelutions as a kid. I never got around to painting them until this year, but I've loved the challenge. Umbreon is up next!

Insane amount of luck today!

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 02:36 PM PDT

So I'm walking through my campus and I come to the parking lot of one of the dorms. A bunch of Pokémon pop up, and I see one that's pink, but my character is turned a certain way so I only see a little bit of it. I think "Oh great, more Jigglypuffs or Whismur". I turn my camera and boom! A HUGE wild Blissey! Then, I'm walking back through the lot about 10 minutes later and a shiny Swablu pops up too! Been hunting one of those for forever. One of the luckiest days I've had in awhile.

With all the posts about negative behaviour lately, I thought I'd share my wholesome Yokosuka experience.

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 04:49 AM PDT

A little late to the party seeing as the event has been over for a few days, but we just got back from Japan and I wanted to bring back some positivity surrounding the game.

For my birthday last month, my girlfriend organised flights to Japan so we could visit the Yokosuka Safari Zone and spend a few days exploring Tokyo. We'd only recently picked the game back up after stopping about 18 months ago, and aside from the odd community day, we hadn't yet been to a big Go event.

Being from Australia, we stocked up on Kangaskhans (which - as it turns out - are hated as much in Japan as they are in Australia) and left on the Friday night, arriving early Saturday morning. After a day of exploring and buying hilariously awful merch, we collapsed into bed unable to sleep from excitement about the next day.

After waking up early on Sunday morning, we made our way to Yokosuka and arrived at the safari zone. The spawns were off the scales, people were everywhere and (surprisingly) the network service was better than what we've got back home.

Appearing like your classic confused foreign tourists, we stuck out like a porcupine at a nudist's colony, and were approached by someone every 1-2 minutes wondering if we had a Heracross (which we don't have) to trade. It was hilarious - people would see us from afar and come running to ask us about Heracross, and whenever we said that we didn't have it they were so incredibly polite and apologetic for even asking. Others would see us and run over wanting to be friends in the game, simply thrusting their phones in our hands and nodding/smiling as the majority didn't speak any English at all. We were having the best time, catching Pokemon and laughing about the absurdity of everything that was going on around us.

Around lunch time, we sought out a few restaurants - all of which were full - so we put our names down on the wait list outside a few that looked pretty good. While we were waiting, one of the people who had approached us earlier in the day came out of one of the restaurants and said that we could come and have lunch with them so we wouldn't have to wait. We followed him (who we'll call R) inside to find family sitting around a large table looking very excited to meet us and offering to cook us okonomiyaki. None of them spoke any English aside from the small amount that R spoke, but that didn't stop us from having a heap of laughs as we tried to communicate and make jokes that we could all understand.

At the end of the meal, R and his wife offered us to have dinner at their parents' restaurant the following night. We happily obliged, bringing them some Aussie treats (TimTams and wine) that we managed to source in Tokyo the next day. That night, they cooked up a huge feast just for us, and asked us to read 'Spot Goes to the Farm' to their one year-old son so he could hear it 'with real English'. After a night of laughs and stories, we traded pokemon and they ended up giving us some gifts that were given to them by a famous Sumo wrestler friend of theirs.

For the rest of the trip we would see them every day, talking with them about things to do and see while we stayed in Tokyo, and they even invited us to their house the night before we flew back to Australia to cook us a traditional Japanese feast of sukiyaki and some other strange food (raw jellyfish and plum was a favourite). They even ended up driving us to the airport and hanging out with us while we waited for our flight. They told us that we are welcome to stay at their place any time, and we said the same. Since then, we've been talking every day and sending gifts in game, hoping to organise a catch-up in the near future.

Anyway, I've made this longer than it needs to be but I just wanted it to serve as a reminder of the wonderful people out there and the strange places that Pokemon Go can lead you. If flying to Japan to play a mobile game wasn't weird enough, it's left us with unforgettable memories and a lifelong friendship that we will cherish forever.

Can we get an option to disable in-game notifications?

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 09:21 AM PDT

It would be great to be able to swipe left/right to dismiss the in-game pop up notifications (people opening gifts etc). When I want to connect my Po-go I have to wait until they are cleared before I can even see the button. I'm sure others must find this frustrating too!

Niantic should incorporate some sort of "Do all" function for potions, revives, and gifts.

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 06:25 PM PDT

I don't know if this has been said already, and it probably has been, but for me it's really tedious having to tap on each friend to open and send a gift, tap on each pokemon to heal (sometimes several times if using a potion or super potion) or revive.

I wish Niantic would create a "Heal all" button, as well as one for revives, and opening and sending gifts to friends just to increase the game's quality of life.

What do you guys think?

After few months of playing, I finally caved in and got myself PokeGenie. I scanned each pokemon currently with me and found this one.

If not for PokeGenie would've blindly transferred this one due to its CP not maxed out for time being (I had a 153CP along my ranks, and have a 128CP as a buddy.

Welp, road to 100% IV Gyarados it is!

[Complaint] There needs to be way more oddish and poliwags around.

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 12:57 PM PDT

Since Oddish and Poliwags have branching evolutions at 100 candy each, I think they should spawn way more than other water/grass.

I'm in an area where it's constantly sunny weather, but I never see oddish, more rosalia than anything...

Almost took my gym back within an hour of getting it taken away before remembering other people like coins as well

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 02:18 PM PDT

Remember that not everyone has the chance to play 100% of the time. My usual gym is on my way home from school, and when I was getting food, I got a notification saying my gym had been taken. It took me a minute to realize that it'd be rude to take it back so quick. Remember gym etiquette boys!

Like many, I left PokemonGo in late 2016, and redownloaded a few days ago

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 05:20 AM PDT

One of my best friends, who was my main PoGo buddy in the heyday, just got back from a business trip to the UK on Monday. I was kind of bummed because it hasn't occurred to me have her redownload the game so she could catch me a Mr. Mime while she was there.

When she got back we made plans to watch a movie yesterday after we both got off work. And guys, it turns out she also redownloaded PokemonGo right around the time I did, and she caught two Mr. Mimes on her trip, and she immediately offered me one since trading is now a thing!

So now I have my Mr. Mime!! https://i.imgur.com/mUHHEOh.jpg I know it's not the biggest deal, especially compared to other things that are posted here, but y'all, I'm so happy!

I'm really excited to be back in the game, and I'm excited she is too. We had so much fun the Summer of 2016 :)

Niantic's staff plays Pokémon Go and reports back our concerns.

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 09:40 AM PDT

Have you seen this? In this official Pokémon Go video at 6:35 for about one minute, two Niantic reps acknowledge that Niantic does actually listen to our feedback. I also remember seeing the guy in both a TrainerTips and Reversal video. Anyway, they basically said that they hear our cries and know of our desperation for new features. Now the question is what's coming next? Watch here and enjoy.

I personally hope it'll be the following SOON;

  • Pokéstop submissions (for rural areas first)
  • New ways to earn daily 50 coins (too many issues with spoofers, gym trolls and multi-accounters)
  • Local map for raids with an option that let's people know you'll attend with an ETA perhaps
  • Battle system rework
  • PvP (confirmed later this year)
  • Gym leader feature

Just some of the things I think some of us would love to see.

Way(s) to obtain Kecleon

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 03:24 PM PDT

Ditto is a disguise pokemon and the only way to obtain them is to catch pokemon and hoping it will turn into Ditto. what if for Kecleon, being a camouflage pokemon, the only way to get them is tapping randomly on your screen on the map until you hit something and Kecleon appears? Or it shows that there is something nearby on the radar but you have to guess by clicking around the pokestop?

How to throw Premier Balls!

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 04:09 PM PDT

Hot to throw Premier Balls (Youtube)

Hello Trainers,

I know there are MANY explanations out there about how to throw correctly, but we realized that many Trainers came back these days and we get a lot of questions about the "throwing trick". So we made a short and (hopefully) easy-to-understand video about it. We hope that we can help some people to increase there throwing skills. Feel free to share it (or other explanations about it) in your local communities if you experienced the same.

This game is helping my Panic Disorder and nerves as I move away for college :) Anyone else feel the same?

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 10:44 AM PDT

I am someone who has frequent panic attacks and functions like a fish out of water in new environments. That being said, I'm moving 800 miles away for college tomorrow, and oh boy, does that scare me. But recently my dad and I have got back into pokemon go and its so great. When playing the game, i'm so happy and worry free. Its amazing how exercise and fun can really help a girl out. I love to walk around and catch pokemon with my dad and spend time with him before I leave. We dont really have much to talk about normally because we are so different, and its nice to connect with him. Also, this game is a great distraction from the stress in my life. Plus, i know for a fact there are tons of gyms and pokestops in the city I'm moving to.

Does anyone else feel this way about the game too? Has anyone else experienced a positive turn in their life because of pokemon go?

Idea: You should be able to throw away an Ex Pass to get another one.

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 07:43 PM PDT

As my Ex pass for this week is for a town I raided in once, I got to thinking. You should be able to throw away an ex pass you can't make, and then get an invite for another. Would definitely help with those pesky Ex Invites you get from a vacation raid, or one schedule while you work when there is another one later that day. You could only get another pass if you'd otherwise be eligible for it, have raided at that gym in the right window. So it's not a guarantee, unless you know there are other more convenient Ex raids you could've got.

[Discussion] Anyone else tired of the egotistical players ruining this game?

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 05:37 PM PDT

For past raid days I've been driving 30 minutes away to meet up with a group and decided that this time I'd try to organize a group for Moltres day by planning out a route for my local group to use, turns out someone already made one but it wasn't all that great, their addresses were off so I improved on it, updated it and made it so that when you tap on an address it automatically opens up in google maps.

I published the updated document that I created (using the original as a reference) in the whats app group so that everyone could use. Come to find out the creator of the map didn't want anyone to know about this so that his group can use it and I got called out for taking credit for the map and making it public when it wasn't meant to be. It brought up concerns that now people will flood the route with cars. I was unaware that it wasn't supposed to be made public but that's also BS...

I thought this game was about helping each other out? By keeping info like this private its benefitting only a select few, not the local community as a whole. It holds the community back from maximizing their experience which is funny since apparently it was meant to maximize our haul. I guess that only applies to the small group it was intended for in the first place, screw the local group huh?

PEOPLE TAKE THIS GAME WAY TOO SERIOUS

Secured a 100% Kyogre from the "lucky guaranteed" trading event

Posted: 06 Sep 2018 01:32 AM PDT

My beautiful blue mon

I know this event sucks for a lot of people but I'm one of the lucky few with less than 10 lucky mons and have been playing since the first day so I have around 30 mons from July/Aug 2016.

I didn't already have a Kyogre and my ultra friend was kind enough to give it to me. I literally screamed when I saw it's 100%! Now just gotta collect more rare candies so I can power it up to the max.

On a side note, is waterfall+hydro pump a good combo? I have a bunch or fast and charge TMs, and would definitely not hesitate using it on my beautiful Kyogre.

EDIT: title is wrong. It's an update, not an event. Thanks u/Callmekyle11 for pointing that out
