- Thanks to today's Lucky Pokemon update, ALL Lucky Pokemon are now receiving 80%+ IVs (a minimum of 12/12/12)! This means each Lucky Pokemon now has a 1/64 chance of rolling 100% IVs, travelers!
- Reminder that Pokémon Go is a casual, free-to-play mobile game and shouldn’t be taken any more seriously than that.

| Posted: 05 Sep 2018 05:23 PM PDT No matter how you play this game (casual, serious collector, gym defender, socialite, etc.), this isn't a game that should be taken super serious. It's not an eSport, and the likelihood of someone ever collecting every variant of every Pokémon is slim-to-none, even for spoofers. If you take down a gym, great! Good for you and the team you represent. And if you lose a gym, don't sweat it! There's always a chance to take it back, either immediately or down the line. If you miss out on an event, it's not the end of the world. This game has proven that it's capable of making these things available another way. Missed out on Moltres as the monthly Field Research reward? You can attempt Moltres Day coming up this weekend! Didn't get the Miltank task during the Johto event? Maybe someone at a future Community Day has one that they'd trade you. My overall point is that it's just a game, and a free-to-play mobile game at that. We're not entitled to anything in the first place, so the events that we do get are appreciated; even if they're not directly for us, they're making somebody's game experience better. Just play the game. Don't obsess yourself with it, and don't get stressed if you miss anything. We have one of the best communities out there, and we do our best to take care of each other. | [Story] I was threatened over a Gym Posted: 05 Sep 2018 01:26 AM PDT Before i start, this is as much a Story as it is a Question if anything like this ever happened to you. I read a Story here today About a Guy called Rob who quit the game because of something like this and it made me wonder if theres a lot of this going on within the community. Im a rather active Team Valor Player. I usually drive to the City and Play with my Group there, due to the spawnrate being so much better than in my neighbourhood. However, sometimes i do take a walk in my area to take the gyms. Since im the only Player of my Team, i dont really have a choice but to go solo. There are 3 gyms lined up in what i would guesstimate is an area with a radius of Maybe 250 meters. I start taking the first gym when i notice a Group of guys stopping on the other side of the street, Looking at me. Theyre 3 Guys, probably around 15-17. I assume theyre Pokemon Players, but since im not sure and i dont want to appear weird if i (26 yo.o. male) just greet these Kids without any reason, so i ignore them and just finish taking the gym. On my way to the second gym i realise that the first one is already under attack, so at this Point ist rather obvious theyre Players as well. Since the pokemon in the gym are already low on WP i take down number 2 in no time at all and start making my way to gym number 3. Im almost done, having one round against the defending Blissey left, when the Teens catch up with me. One of them approaches me. I assume he is one of the defenders and wants to ask me if they can Keep the gym. Boy was i wrong. He starts YELLING at me to leave right now or else.. Im a Pretty big guy, Standing at almost 2 meters, and These Kids looked like Spaghetti, so i was really confused they wanted to pick a fight. However, i absolutely despise violence (and honestly im not that tough lol) so i told him to just take it back afterwards since i was mostly interested in the medalpoints for placing a pokemon and feeding it 10 berries. He didnt like that idea one bit. Instead, he started pushing me. I told him not to touch me, so naturally he pushed me again. At this Point i was actually concidering my odds of taking on all 3 of them at the same time. I dont usually see violence as a viable Option, but I really started to feel threatened and i didnt see any other way out. The decision was taken out of my Hand however when another Group of Players i knew walked towards us to say hello. Ive never been so happy to see a bunch of mystic members my entire life. The guys took a hike before i could even say something. I asked around if anyone knew These Kids, but to no avail. I still take that route in order to get the gyms and i cant say im scared for my life or something like that, but it was a very unpleasant experience and i could totally see a younger/smaller/female Player Feeling differently in a Situation like that. Hell, i might have gotten my ass handed to me if it wasnt for those Team mystic guys. tl/dr; got threatened by a bunch of Teenagers over a gym and was saved by Team mystic. So one of them took it upon themselves to create a new account using my real name to troll me and placing the account in gyms near my home. I live in a small city and have half a dozen gyms within a few blocks of my home. At first I thought it was funny then I started to think this player knows my real name and is placing it right near my home. This could get dangerous and out of hand quickly. | Pokémon Go almost ruined my lunch today Posted: 05 Sep 2018 03:46 PM PDT Here's a fun little story that happened to me and my wife this afternoon. First off, I'll start with saying I'm not an avid Pokémon go player anymore and play the 3DS version of the franchise. The Pokémon company has been distributing Pokémon events all year long via code and this month it was Latios/Latias event. I got hungry after getting my code at Best Buy We picked a place to eat and I decided to bring my codes with me to redeem while waiting inside the restaurant. I placed them on the table and was greeted by our waitress. My wife says to me "she was looking at your DS", and I brush it off with a, "oh yeah". I bust out my console and start playing through the story (I'm SR for Legendaries) Through out the lunch I noticed the waitress began to loose interest in us after she served our ice tea. When she came back for our order I noticed a small change in her tone. She asked how I wanted my burger cooked and I done goofed. "Can I have that not too pink but not too overcooked either". See I run a small cafe myself and I don't know why it just didn't come naturally to me to say medium. My wife laughed after she took our order and said to me "you get so peppy when you order. We laughed about it because I'm normally very quiet and not to outspoken. The waitress then disappears for the next 10 minutes and I start to wonder where she had gone. My tea was empty and the time kept passing by. Finally she's in sight and headed to our table with our food. Drops it off and doesn't ask a single question. So now I still have no tea and was left wondering, did I make her mad? She swings by a few minutes later and pours me some tea and again she was short and disappears. I mentioned it to my wife. "I think our waitress hates us, but like...why?" Did I annoy her? At this point I really don't mind the service you know? I know sometimes as a server out days can really suck. We finish eating our lunch ask for a box and the check. She comes back, hesitates and finally acknowledges me... "Do you play Pokémon go?" I answer "nah not really, I kinda play this way more (pick up my 3DS as telling her) ... but I use to. She sighs in relief and tells us that she thought we had taken her gym, that had taken her two days to attain. The tension was so thick. 😂 she went on to be super cool and taught me a thing or two about what's changed in the GO franchise. I've heard good things about my English teacher, but it is an English teacher, so my hopes weren't too high. I was talking with my best friend about Pokemon (he plays PoGo as well), when the teacher says she plays too. Keep in mind she's in her 50's. It turns out that she's level 40, has over 40 shinies, and plays ~4 hours everyday. She was super cool as well, def my favorite teacher. | Old lady on her bike battling gyms. Posted: 05 Sep 2018 02:01 PM PDT I played pokemon go on and off the last few years. Just downloaded it again last week to check it out. Today i was sitting in the bus and opened the game. I saw someone was fighting a gym so i looked up to check if i saw someone standing there. To my surprise i saw a very old lady standing next to her bike, tapping her phone like crazy. I looked around and she was the only one around. Did not expect old people to play this game, she looked like she was in her 60's. Its great to see someone that old going around town on her bike to battle gyms and catch pokemon. Would have loved to add her as a friend but unfortunately there was no bus stop nearby. Is it common for people of that age to play pokemon go? If so, that is awesome. [link] [comments]  |
