I think Lucha Libre is an untapped theme for a skin and voice lines for Sombra. Here's a post with some ideas

TL;DR - I feel like a lucha(dora) theme would be appropriate for Sombra for a few reasons

  • Lucha libre is an iconic part of Mexican culture

  • Luchador characters are a staple of (fighting) video games, would be nice to see them represented in Overwatch

  • Sombra's personality can be reflected in Lucha libre, whether it's the secretive nature of masked wrestlers or the cheating tactics of rudos (bad guys)

  • Sombra doesn't have a skin yet for Halloween or Anniversary, and this skin could fit those events

  • Luchador "La Sombra" was active in Mexico during the last decade, founded the rudo group "Los Ingobernables" or "The Ungovernables" which fits Overwatch's Sombra quite well

Why Lucha Libre? (Background)

Professional wrestling (wrestling with predetermined match results) has been around since the 19th century, though Mexico's unique form of it (Lucha Libre) didn't get its start until the 1930s. Lucha libre has the defining character traits of bright colored costumes, masks and the hiding of identities of most wrestlers, and high flying moves that have seen themselves be spread to other nations in the last 20 years or so. Lucha libre has seen quite a bit of representation in video games, usually as part of the fighting game genre though the iconic masks have popped up as cosmetics in FPS games such as TF2.

Sombra herself has an indirect connection to lucha libre, seeing as there was a luchador who went under the name "La Sombra" from 2007-2015, though he's currently wrestling in WWE as Andrade Cien Almas. La Sombra was a rudo (bad guy) and founded the group "Los Ingobernables" (The Ungovernables) which fits Sombra's story quite well. Outside of her name and general connection to Mexican culture, Sombra's personality and character traits can be reflected in the sport. She's secretive and keeps her identity hidden which is illustrated by lucha masks as well as the fact that most masked wrestlers in Mexico keep their names and identities secret until they are either unmasked or they die, whichever comes first. In game she is mobile and can attack from out of nowhere, which is reflected in the wrestling style itself.

The outfits and masks of lucha libre are stereotypically quite colorful which fits her current color selection. Finally, her cheating (or playing it smart) is reflected in the style of "rudos" of Mexican lucha libre.

Skin Ideas

I've had this idea in my head ever since I started playing Overwatch this past winter, and I had literally not seen any fan art with this idea until yesterday!

Here is Natalie Pellman aka Foxcrusade's take on a luchadora Sombra. From here I'll just explain my ideas or tweaks.

Her current Azucar and Los Muertos skins have designs that could be adapted to this theoretical skin, and the skull face paint that she uses is quite similar to current luchadors such as Pentagon Dark. When it comes to blending tech with lucha, Cibernetico is the only luchador that has been out there, so it's really a blank canvas for designers to fill.

The jacket/skirt portion of Sombra's look could be either part of the costume, a tied up jacket/sweatshirt (similar to the Tulum skin), or even a cape which would pay tribute to some of the original luchadors like El Santo and Blue Demon. Also, I feel like the skin should include a Championship belt, a gold would be good but a subtle silver may be more fitting.

Voice Lines

With boxing, gaming, and wrestling all having similar terminology, there may be some crossover with Doomfist and DVa, but I think things can be different enough if they don't directly refer to punching. As for some of the ideas I have for voice lines, they likely need to be tweaked if they are copyrighted/trademarked.

Some current voice lines that are relevant:

  • "Down for the count" (melee final blow)

  • "Where's the fun in playing fair"

Voice line ideas:

  • "Tranquilo" - (Calm/chill; utilized by luchador La Sombra)

  • "Soy ingobernable" (I am ungovernable; reference to the group founded by La Sombra)

  • "You can't see me" (One of wrestler John Cena's taglines)

  • "I'll hack you to pieces"

  • No miedo [No fear] (Spin on Pentagon Dark's "Cero Miedo" or "Zero Fear")

  • "I'm tagging out" (After translocation is used)

  • "Ring the bell!" (Signal for the start or end of a fight)

  • "Animo!" [To encourage/inspire/be alive] (Phrase of luchador Fenix)

Hope you found this post interesting and it maybe inspires you to share ideas for future Sombra skins, lines, etc.

I've seen a huge increase of people playing this way in season 12 and it ruins the experience for those of us playing with a controller. It is a clear unfair advantage, and I don't appreciate it.

Ana has been shit tier for a long time. Since season two I've been an Ana main. I'd lock Ana and not swap. Not quite one tricking, but pretty close. "Ana is a garbage healer" you'd all say, but I'd ignore you. There were seasons I had a 34% winrate, losing but still sticking with my beloved grandma. Now, the tides have turned. Ana is meta, she feels important on the team again. I've played 15 games as Ana this season and won 14 of them. I've waited 9 seasons for this. My winrate is 96% and I'm loving every game. For all the Ana mains who have struggled for so long, now is our time.

What in the literal fuck is this logic? I have literally played TWO games in a row with people who gave up after we lost the first push, even though we easily could have won the game. For the second game I played, the dude literally said that whenever the game doesn't start well, he just throws the game. I asked him why he thinks that makes any logical sense and - in his effort to ignore the question - he says "this isn't even my main account, i'm grandmasters. who cares?". I threaten to report the dude and ask the rest of my team to do the same and then he has the audacity to say "you wouldn't be the first five". Dude takes gratification in this and it's annoying, but honestly what bothers me the most is that people really think the best course of action when you're behind in a game is to throw the game.

Could someone please explain to me why the hell you think throwing a game is the better option than trying harder, maybe switching up the comp, or - and this is a HUGE stretch here - COOPERATING WITH YOUR TEAM AND NOT JUST USING YOUR MIC TO COMPLAIN AND BE TOXIC.
