Minecraft Bi-Weekly Build Challenge #53: 2 year Anniversary! Posted: 02 Sep 2018 03:55 AM PDT LAST WEEK'S THEME: UNDERWATER CITYGoldA really cool build! First off, I did like what you did with the glass and everything to simulate being underwater. Even though you mention that the glass panes seem a little annoying, I think the effect still worked and they helped the build a bit more than they hurt it. We really liked the build style here as well and all of those towers have an underwater feel to them (however, I feel that is in part due to the prismarine blocks). A small thing I didn't like was the lack of vegetation. I know you built it not in water so you wouldn't have been able to use any of those new underwater plants, but I think some more green or some sort of vegetation would help the build a lot. Another really small thing, about the sea above, I liked it but I'm wondering if you have made some small waves above the surface or made some spots a bit thicker, it may have produced an interesting effect. I'm not completely sure about this, but it's something that may have added a bit more. Great build! SilverA good approach to the build, by building in a more futuristic theme! I really liked the style of building here and the layout of the city. It was condensed enough to hide a lot of the sea floor, which is especially nice in a cold ocean because it hides all of that gravel. However, I wasn't a fan of the block choice. I feel that the first builds in your album looked like more futuristic types of buildings and I really liked them. However, further in, there's a lot of prismarine and nether brick builds which didn't fit that theme as well and feel a little disconnected. They were good builds, they just seemed a little out of place with the rest of it. Still, a good take on the challenge! BronzeI really liked how colourful this build felt and how the different aspects of it blended in with the environment. There wasn't anything major that was built but the coral and also the terrain (ravine here) around it helped blend it in and make everything seem a bit more natural. I will say that I think a bit more structure would have added to the build, for example, maybe some stone bricks outlining those windows in the ravine? But, I don't think too much structure would have helped the build, as the natural flowing side of it is really where it shines. Good build! Honourable mentions IntroductionTwo years!!!!!!!! Wow, what a ride! It's been a long road and a great one! There's been so many great builds and builders and honestly, it has been an honour being able to manage this competition week after week. It wouldn't be possible without your support or enthusiasm so thank you for everything. I'm sure the other judges, /u/Krinon_Gaming and /u/Tilnit would have the same to say. Anyway, we were trying to figure out a good anniversary theme and we came up with one that can combine all of the past challenges into something fun! Warning, it will be a vague week in terms of theme and there will be many different interpretations. However, for the sake of the anniversary and to celebrate what we've done, we're going to keep it that way. Even though this is still a competition, this challenge is supposed to be fun! So have a good time and keep building! New Textures People have been asking about the new textures. As of now, the textures are only in the testing phase and will possibly change in the future. We have decided that we'll wait from allowing them in the build challenge as of now until there's a more official release of them. This may change next challenge as we, the judges, haven't had a full discussion on the matter but as of now, this is the ruling. Happy building! Inspiration ChallengeTheme park/museum So, for this build, the goal is to make a theme park or a museum to showcase the other build challenges. So, in whatever you choose to build, there must be small plots representing the different themes. These can be either rides, themed areas, exhibits or something else that showcases the theme. There must be at least four of these areas so four past themes. Also, please let us know which themes you chose (although we should know by looking at it if it's built well!). Now, I don't expect everyone to go all out on each theme. You're not building for four different challenges. As long as there's a tiny bit of an area that looks like a previous theme, we're happy. Rules

WARNING - fake 1.13 Optifine out there. Posted: 02 Sep 2018 07:12 PM PDT So I was trying to check the status of Optifine, (80% ported to 1.13, keep your fingers crossed) but while searching for it I came across this fake optifine page toting what must be a virus .exe file downloadable. Is there a way to report this? For the record, this is the real Optifine site. If I'm at all mistaken, please correct me, but I'd be hard pressed to have it be anything else. [link] [comments] | ||
