Fallout - One horrible aspect of the wasteland the games can't capture due to limitations is dust.

Just imagine how disgustingly dusty everything would be? It definitely wouldn't be as cool as it is in the games.

I love the Fallout series for its atmosphere, lore and engagement. The gameplay is secondary, almost irrelevant. I just want more Fallout games, regardless of the type of game it is.

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 12:32 PM PDT

I sincerely enjoyed all Fallout games, because they do the post-apocalypse atmosphere better than any other series out there. The universe itself is engaging and fun to experience. I hear people complain that Fallout 4 and FO76 are 'just' basic shooters and PUBG with a Fallout skin put on it. To those people I say, Yeah, the skin is the part that I care about. I played a 2-d RPG and loved it. I played a mobile game and loved it. I played a shooter with surface level RPG elements and I loved it. I'd play a fucking Fallout Tetris game. Just give me more of that unique universe that I love.

I made a replica of the Combat Shotgun from Fallout 4.

I 3d modeled, 3d printed, sanded, and painted this guy over the last few weeks.

TIL In Fallout 4 You can get the Lover's Embrace Perk from your romantic companion, even if they're dead.

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 10:14 AM PDT

I got the Nuca-World DLC and I killed all the raiders after becoming romantically involved with the raider companion. Then I took a nap by his remains and I woke up with the game saying I received lover's embrace. So I guess the Sole Survivor is a necrophiliac.

Bethesda reminds players, again, they are focusing on single player.

Shower Thought: “The Wanderer” is in Fallout 4 and “Dear Hearts and Gentle People” is in Fallout 3 when those songs would be way more fitting if it was the other way around.

Just got Fallout New Vegas

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 01:25 PM PDT

So Fallout 4 was my first introduction into Fallout and I fell in love. I have fallout shelter on my cell and that's enjoyable as well. Well today I came across a copy of fallout New Vegas and picked it up. Looks like fallout is sucking me deeper into its hole. I have only heard good things about it.

Finished my 3d printed Vault Boy!

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 12:03 PM PDT

He was fun to make (aside from all the sanding) and thought some of you might appreciate him. Anyone with a 3d printer that wants to take a whack at him themselves, the file is available on Thingiverse. thing:2558339 . He's about 5" tall at 100% print size.

I'm so happy that fallout doesn't have sea monsters.

Posted: 30 Aug 2018 08:39 PM PDT

I swim alot in fallout 4 as its faster than walking everywhere on land and wasting ammo on random encounters, BUT I'm terrified of the open dark water where anything can be below the surface. So I'm glad that Bethesda didn't add actual sea monsters into the game other than crabs on the shore and small stuff like that.

I finished Fallout 2. Never imagined how absolutely bonkers this game could be.

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 01:22 PM PDT

After many attempts and frustrating rage quits at the beginning I finally managed to do it. The special encounters lmao especially the Monty Python ones. Such a wonky and crazy feature. And the death animations can be so fucking brutal.

That's the thing I like about this game. It has the right balance from crazy stuff and being super serious. The newer fallout games don't really have that (except maybe fo nv, that trait)

Question about fallouts lore!

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 01:17 PM PDT

So as far as I know in the fallout universe we dropped the bombs on Japan. That being the case why wasn't there ghouls and other creatures due to radiation? Would there be extreme side affects just like others places of the world after the Great War or am I missing something? Thank you in advance for taking your time out of your day to answer my silly questions!!

Why I want Fallout: New Orleans (rant-ish)

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 08:54 AM PDT

I know the hypothetical hype for this game has died off on account of it not existing, but I still have words to say. Because I wanted it and I still want it. And here are the reasons:

  • Mardis Gras carnival tribes. They're like, the coolest thing. Most complex subculture in the US probably. Big Chief faction leader, Spy Boy companions, and they already have awesome costumes. They could even have hards for buffing, which looks like a thing in 76

  • gatorclaws. Obviously

  • Swamps. Bethesdas best content is in swamps and islands and shit like that. Point lookup, far harbor, tjay Skyrim thing. Swamps

  • Voodoo would be lit. Fortune tellers at best, voodoo witchdoctors at worst. Maybe even magic as an element like elder scrolls

  • Food crafting as a social skill that earns respect from NPCs

  • lovecraftian shit lurking in the bayou, as it should be.

And I will continue being hyped for this as I play 76, as I play fallout Miami, as I play fallout cascadia. Give it to me Todd.

This is the closest thing I could find. It's okay but it's like, New Orleans adjacent.

Fallout 4 is a horror game sometimes [Frost]

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 09:47 AM PDT

So I was playing fallout with a mod called Frost. Frost is a mod that makes the game difficulty 500% harder, imagine survival on crack. So I enter the super duper Mart, dispatching all the ghouls and near dying in the process. After I thought I cleared the building I hear the horrifying growling. I couldn't find where is was coming from for like five minutes, I look around to see it crawling through the windows. I frantically trying to to run away but he lunged at me killing me instantly. I've never been so scared in a fallout game. So yeah he killed me so I lost like 45+ minutes of progress. Note: yeah I know this happens in the base game. Edit - Frost is on PC only

Fallout 76 seems a bit too worn, and weathered.

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 07:19 AM PDT

I guess to comes down to reusing assets and the FO4 engine, but its still a bummer. When I first saw it was going to be set 20-25 years after the bombs fell, my first thought was I was going to get to see awesome prewar tech before being ravaged by time for 200 years.

Fallout 4 Save Issues on PS4

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 02:07 PM PDT

About three months ago, I went to save my game on Fallout 4, but when I tried to save, it said that I had run out of room on the system and needed 0 megabytes more data to save my game. I deleted all of my old save files to see if that would help, but when I went to check it it gave me the same error message. I deleted the game itself and reinstalled it to my PS4, started a new game, and after about a week or two of gameplay it gave me the same error message. I would really like to be able to play Fallout 4 again, but I can't do it if it keeps me giving me this message. Does anyone know what the problem is and/or how I can fix it so I can play?

The Mighty Pipe Pistol is the Perfect Pipe Weapon [FO4]

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 03:04 PM PDT

So I was getting the new character itch again. You know how that song and dance goes - try something different than the norm. I decided to make a pistol-only character. And on top of that, no VATS either. This was gonna a straight-up, fast-paced western gunslinger gameplay with high Luck and Charisma. Ever seen the movie Maverick with Mel Gibson before he went off his rocker? Yeah, that.

Except with Magnum PI's epic stache.

So I got frozen, unthawed, suddenly divorced, re-frozen and re-thawed. I saved Garvey purely for the sweet Minuteman hat and got myself a Drifter outfit. So far my only equipment has been a 10mm pistol, a bolt-action pipe sniper (which I put a pistol grip on), and a laser pistol I had relieved from some pesky Gunners. Put a couple levels into Toughness to make up for my stylish-yet-useless outfit and I was ready to hunt down the sunnovabitch that killed my wife and took my son. So here I am, skipping along the railway track on the way to kill Kellog. That's when I as ambushed by three vicious mongrels, lead by a Legendary alpha.

Good thing the drifer outfit had brown pants.

The battle was sudden, intense, and difficult. But in the end, I got them. And leveled up too! So I popped a second perk into Gunsmith and searched the Legendary dog. And there it was...

A Mighty Pipe Pistol. Bone stock. The Mighty effect was a flat 25% extra damage. Now, that doesn't seem that special now, does it?

But then something occurred to me...

I went right back to Diamond city. Walked up to Arturo and asked what he had. As luck would have it, he did indeed have what I needed. A pipe pistol with a .45 receiver. I bought it. I also went and did some raider-hunting, until I found myself prying a pipe rifle with a drum mag out of a dismembered arm's still-warm fingers.

Don't do jet kids.

I went back to Sanctuary and worked on my masterpiece. I put the stock parts in place of the .45 received off the first gun and did the same with the drum mag off the second gun. I took my shiny new drum mag and receiver and slapped it onto my newest creation... A .45 Pipe Pistol with a 60 round magazine, with +25% damage. I called it The Mighty Mangler. I figured that shit would make a great stop-gap weapon until I got Kellog's pistol or something more powerful.

I shouldn't have underestimated it. Holy. Fucking. Shit.

I waltzed into the army base and began capping Synths. I had up 60 rounds of high-velocity hot lead to pop off in very rapid succession. It was the easiest synth clear-out I had ever done. The fight against Kellog himself was still pretty tough as usual. But in the end... I just sold his pistol. I didn't need it.

Now my Mighty Mangler won't be very good in the late-game but it just feels... feels so right. It has just that liiiiiitle bit of extra damage the pipe weapons need to stay viable. It wasn't overpowered ridiculousness like an explosive automatic weapon or a wounding ripper, it felt like it was just the right amount of powerful. Ammo is cheap and plentiful. The damage is great. The customization options are endless. It's light and quick. Even if one day it's no longer useful for me, I'll proudly put it on my bedside table. Always a trusty go-to for a wild gunslinger.

I hope I find a Mighty pipe weapon on every playthrough I do, and I hope you do too.

Fallout: New Vegas, Which Faction Do You Go For?

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 03:58 AM PDT

I'm curious to know if people have multiple playthroughs where they align with different factions or if people tend to stick with one particular faction every time they play.

I always go for the NCR or Yes Man quest line, Mr House I've only done twice & I didn't mind it but found it fairly average. Caesar's Legion is just horrible, hands down - the faction & it's leader are the least appealing to me.

What's your favourite?
