Dota players, victims of police brutality. Posted: 04 Sep 2018 03:28 AM PDT One dead, one missing. Apparently the boy who got shot might have gotten confused with a known criminal because of the similarity of his Queen Of Pain tattoo with a criminal's tattoo, though this might just be the police covering their asses. They were going to play in a Dota tournament. One of them was apparently a very good player and wanted to go pro. If anyone knows more about this, please share, and let everyone know if there's anything we can do, such as raise awareness or just remember this event and know more about the details, so hopefully if it happens again there will be more outrage. Hello Reddit. Ex Virtus.pro smm here. Posted: 04 Sep 2018 12:23 AM PDT Hello Reddit. Today's my last day at work as an SMM guy for Virtus.pro. For over two and a half years, we've been on a thrilling adventure together. I hope you've enjoyed following the team's day-to-day life. Keep making awesome threads and don't forget to support the team and its players. It's been a real pleasure to work for you, the fans of the team, and I thank you. #GOGOVP [link] [comments] |

My journey to becoming a pro Dota 2 player part 7: The home stretch? Posted: 04 Sep 2018 04:01 AM PDT Part 1, 2, 3, 4. 5, 6 for the lazy ;p
Hey Reddit, it's been a while since I last updated you about my progress, I had some IRL stuff (both good, and not-so-great) to deal with over the last month or something. Also, I kinda postponed it a few times, because my journey right now is not going as smoothly as I would have liked it to be.
So what happened in the past few months? Honestly, barely anything. I lost 500 mmr 7k (rank 170ish)->6.5(rank 900), So that is a hefty blow to morale. Also I found a team, that just took a break for a month (we will start again today, fingers crossed), and managed to qualify for WCA 2018 (not with my actual team), which is -technically- one of my goals (qualifying for an actual big lan). However since it's country-only, and I'm only on the main roster because Sing quit Dota, I'm not counting that one.
Also, I am not sure what happened to PVGNA/what I am allowed to say, but it suffices to say that I put in quite some work, only to hear that they are not going to pay me. That leaves me with tens of hours of work into a SUPER in depth mmr guide, chronicling all of my experiences from my years in Dota, and summarizing it into a 1-1.5 hour long video that would teach you pretty much everything you would ever have to know about mmr, and how to get better, BUT no platform to release it on (I could just put it on youtube or something, but I put in a lot of actual work, and getting paid for hours of work with just upvotes feels really bad after being promised a proper monetary reward for hours of work).
*EDIT: Upon posting this, I got new information. Apparently PVGNA has tried to pay content creator's for unfinished work out of their own pockets. I did not know this, me being unpaid was a misunderstanding, and I want to apologize to PVGNA, and their staff for giving the wrong impression. *
In previous posts, I set a few goals, but since my last post, I feel like I've barely made any progress which feels really terrible. If I want to succeed on this path, my time is running out, and something has to change. I got to thinking about what that would be. I already tried a lot of stuff (read my previous posts), so what is left to try?
I already spoke about the importance of goals, so instead of changing my old ones, I will just add some new ones, to help me with improving my work ethic, and reaching the ones I already set.
1 - 10 games per day, AT LEAST 2 - 2-3 replays per day, ideally while waiting in queue 3 - Stream ALL OF THIS (I streamed before, but it was always sporadic, "when I felt like it", now I really wanna go ham, and share the good and the bad)
I would've liked to tell you guys about me being discovered, and finding my way in the pro scene, but that is just not what is happening (YET?). I will work harder than ever before to try one more time to become the player I want to be, and show the world what I am capable of. THIS WILL NOT BE THE LAST TIME YOU HEAR OF WINGBLADE!!!
TLDR: Past few months have been very meh, and sadly enough even dropped ranks, but I did qualify for a tournament in China. I am not getting paid for hours and hours of work, and now have a huge mmr guide with no platform. Finally, while I streamed before sporadically, now I will stream EVERY DAY
Times are tough sometimes, but you guys are, and have always been super supportive, so thanks a lot for that! If you want to stay more updated with how I am doing, check out my Twitch (which is going to have streams every day!), Facebook, and Twitter! [link] [comments] |
I'm looking for people to destroy my friend in Dota 2! Posted: 03 Sep 2018 04:42 PM PDT My friend is pretty swell at Dota 2 compared to myself. (I am a 1.1k player he is a 3.3k player) and I beat him in a casual 1v1 and now I constantly pester him saying I have defeated him. He just challenged me to a 5v5 "make your own team" match and I am just wondering if I can get a couple way better players to stomp him and then tell him in chat that I am clearly better than he is and say thanks for the carry to me so it makes him angry. Please try to get miracle in here cause it would be funny. (PS we want to do this at Saturday September 8 at 1200 CDT [thats noon/lunch time]) Just message me your steam name and ill add you and we can go from there!) (PSS Theres a lot of people messeging me and i don't know how to use reddit's message system well, just add me on steam, Tierannix. Im the cat with the flower on it's head!) (PSSS I have just recieved intel that our enemy HATES monkey king, so if we can get a godly monkey king, i would love that!) [link] [comments] |

I come from lol and just want to say Dota2 client is actually insane Posted: 03 Sep 2018 11:54 AM PDT I never expected the client to be so fluent. Featuring champ previews, no freeze or shuttering and you can alt-tab without delay. For lol ever since a Windows 10 update it's impossible to alt tab from full screen without 2-3 seconds black screen delay and the client itself is full of bugs, random freezes. Group/regional chats are good ideas too although I haven't gotten them to work yet even if I have registered phone number. Eitherway there is so diversity in servers and you can play most of them. For context, in LoL to play in a different server you have to make a new level 1 account for it. Ability to see pings from all servers in one window is really good too. I'm playing a moba under 100 ping for the first time thanks to DotA (I live in Pakistan and get 170ms in LoL since there's no south asian server) Also in my first pvp there was a message to be nice to new players which was awesome :D Edit: This is not a lol/DotA circlejerk. I'm talking about the client [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Sep 2018 02:16 AM PDT Dota should have chest made every year where people can vote what they want in it. I think this would make very much money to valve and would be good for the community Edit: ofc you cant put arcanas or immortals in there, but like good items, sets, wards, couriers etc. [link] [comments] |
