CS:GO Free - People can queue on FaceIT/ESEA

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 01:34 AM PDT

Right now, you can connect your Steam account with FaceIT/ESEA, and even queue for a CS:GO match, if you own only the CS:GO Free version.

The problem is that anyone that has only the CS:GO Free version can't connect to the actual match, thus wasting the time of another 9 players.

There's a possibility that this bug could be abused.

I know that currently both the Free and Paid version of CS:GO have the same appid (730). A quick solution would be to make a seperate appid for the CS:GO Free version.

Serious showerthought: CS:GO is one of the last non-load-out based competitive games

Posted: 31 Aug 2018 05:17 AM PDT

Amongst the biggest E-Sports games, we find Fortnite, League of Legends, Hearthstone, PUBG, Dota2, Rainbow 6 Siege, Overwatch & CS:GO.
One thing that I keep thinking about is how all those games are load-out based (Meaning, you can pick from a plethora of ingame "heroes" or "Items" that will help in different situations.)

In CS:GO, the load-out is the player.
You can´t pick the "best item" for situation X, or the best hero to move fastest. I primarily think this is a good idea, and also think this is why we have such a big userbase of people watching CS:GO and its raw input/output gameplay.

Remember that I am not saying that there are no skill in the other games, far from. But CS:GO is pure in that sense.

Now to the future.
In the past, we had the riot shield (RIP) which triggered my thought about the future.
Will we in the future see a CS:GO where you heavily choose weapons depending on maps / situations, instead of the constant AK/M4/AWP meta?

edit formatting
edit2 Yes, Fortnite and PUBG are different than CS, but should probably not be called loadout based comp game.
