Ursa +1 Offlane feels like free MMR at Legend/Ancient

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 08:18 PM PDT

Especially when Spectre and Zeus and now WK are so popular. Everyone at this rating seems to think they just have to secure a late game with Spectre, so I pick Ursa offlane every time and I have triple their CS and denies by minute 15.

They still seem to come back in the Ancient bracket but I usually have an item or two of them. Ursa is also insanely good at killing Spectre where other heroes might not be, as his ult stops him from taking a lot of the reflection damage that usually boosts her DPS.

In the lane, this hero can dominate. Most dual lanes are only effective if the carry can follow up on a strong support. Phoenix doesn't bother him at all, nor does CM. I would say Jakiro and Dark Willow are the most annoying but you can play around it.

This hero is so good in dual lanes. And I don't think he's supposed to go mid or safe. I don't think you're optimizing the threat of his extremely early and persistent power spikes by letting him have a free lane. Having a hero that can threaten the carry the entire game, prevent that carry from getting farm, and make incredible amounts of space for your carry and mid (people WILL TP to your lane if they see you've killed their carry. Everyone hates Ursa) is everything you want out of a position 3. And he can become a 2 very easily.

Signups for Redditors Dota 2 League Season 15 are now open!

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 05:26 PM PDT

RD2L is kicking off its 15th Season! This season runs from the start of September until the middle of December, signups end on September 3rd.

What is RD2L?

The Redditors' Dota 2 League (RD2L) is a casual and competitive league for individual players (not teams) of all skill levels. It's a great way to experience organized and competitive Dota 2 without the heavy time commitments and scheduling uncertainty involved in forming a team for a typical league.

You can either sign up as a captain or a player. All players are placed in a draft pool from which captains will pick to form teams. You'll likely be placed with a team of people you haven't met before, and will have the chance to make new friends as you practice and play together over our 8 week season. Captains will be responsible for drafting their teams from the pool of players. After teams are drafted, they will play an 8 week group stage with one captains mode bo2 each week, ending in a playoff for the top teams of each division. (Some divisions may have slightly shorter seasons)

Why Play RD2L?

  • All skill levels welcome! While the average MMR in RD2L is high 3k - low 4k, we have players from 1k - 6k in the league. More experienced players can improve their team work, communication, and leadership skills while helping the lower MMR players improve their game skills.
  • Balanced matches. By drafting teams (similar to fantasy football), teams tend to be generally even in overall player skill. Also, regular season matchmaking pits teams with similar records against each other each week to avoid unbalanced matchups.
  • A great way to build a stack. Through inhouses and regular season matches, build a group of friends to stack and queue with. Teams made up of RD2L players regularly play in Battle Cups, AD2L, Echo League, and Valve Event Qualifiers.
  • Develop your captaining and leadership skills. Whether you captain this season or are mentored by one, RD2L is a great place to improve at CM. Drafting, strategy, and team play are all much more important than your average ranked pub game.
  • Make new friends We have hundreds of players each season, which means that you'll have a chance to meet people looking to have fun in a competitive setting like you. If you're looking to meet more people to play Dota with this is a great league to get started in.
  • No Scheduling hassles In our league you sign up for a division that plays its games on the same night every week, you'll know what night you need to play and won't be scrambling to coordinate a match with your opponents.

Signing up:

Captain and Player Sign-Ups and Information: For full information on how to sign up and rule changes from our previous season, see this post on our subreddit.

First time Signup FAQ: A guide made by one of our community members to help you with the signup process and understanding what comes after you signup.

Captains get to draft players and run their team. If you wish to captain and this is your first season, you must have a legend or above medal and you must be approved by an admin vouch.

Players sign up to be drafted into a team. To sign up as a player you must have played at least 500 games and have 250 wins. Your steam profile / dota stats must also be public to successfully sign up, and you are expected to keep it public for the duration of the season. There is no minimum MMR for players.

Sign-ups work on a first come first serve basis. The number of players we can support each season is limited by the number of captains that sign up, so being a captain is the best way to ensure you get a spot. (However, we typically ask for volunteers from returning players and previous captains if more are needed after sign-ups end, so don't feel pressure to sign-up as a captain.) If as a player you go undrafted, you can still be added to a team that needs you during the season as a Free Agent.

Season 15 Schedule - This subreddit post has our full schedule for the season.

If you're having signup issues, you can send us a modmail on our subreddit, PM me here on reddit, or come to our discord (https://discord.gg/SCXaYj) and ask for assistance there.

Divisions:

When you sign up you will choose a division for a day/time where you'll be regularly available. For the entire regular season, your matches will start at the same time on the same night of the week! For example, the EST-SUN division plays every Sunday on US East Servers at 9 PM EST.

Divisions list:

Match Time Server Days
20:30 CEST EU West Wednesday
19:30 CEST EU West Sunday
9 PM EST US East Sunday
9 PM EST US East Monday
9 PM EST US East Wednesday**
7 PM PST US West Sunday
7 PM PST US West Friday**

For European players, you may sign up for both CST-Wednesday and CST-Sunday if you wish. For NA players, you can only sign up for one of PST-Sunday, EST-Sunday, or EST-Monday (these divisions have interdivisional playoffs at the end, so signing up for more than one is not an option). NA players may also sign up for EST-Wednesday and PST-Friday in addition to one of those three divisions though. EST Wednesday has its own separate playoffs and allows players who wish for a serious RD2L experience to play in both it and another NA division at the same time. PST-Friday is a for fun division meant to allow players to relax and just play some peaceful dota once a week. More information on PST-Friday can be found on our subreddit.

If you have any questions you can always send me a PM via reddit or find me in Discord and PM me there. Our discord is full of active and friendly community members that can help with any confusion. Thanks, we hope you enjoy the season.

Playing as ES (Earth Spirit) in 7.19. Need guidance

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 08:33 PM PDT

How do I play as ES nowadays? Questions is as follows:

  1. Since the nerf to the bounty runes and roaming (Patch 7.10), does he suit as position 4/5?

  2. How do I lane him? Is he better on the offlane or safelane? I felt a little bit underwhelming laning him due to his poor attack speed and damage.

  3. What is his core items after the common starting items? I usually prefer Tranquil>Urn (Spirit Vessel)>Force Staff/Glimmer Cape/Eul on daily basis. I will go straight into Blink Dagger if my team have massive gold lead.

  4. What is the most efficient level distribution to his skills? Usually I went 4-4-1. Also tried 4-1-4. Does the 4-1-4 actually scaled that well for disables as it only adds 0.5 second to his Geomagnetic Grip?

What are the signs on Oracle's back ?

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 06:45 PM PDT

Right here, Oracle has some sort of symbols streaming on his back.

There are 11 of them and i couldn't find any explanation on the internet. Do they represent heroes ? The sign in the middle looks like 2 of PA's daggers and the one at the bottom evokes me BS or Jugg. The other one also look like other heroes, but i don't get it.

treant tips?

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 11:25 PM PDT

Recently started playing a lot of tree, usually in the 4pos in dual offlanes, but I find if I lose that lane (or win it and the offlaner doesn't need me anymore) then I'm not too sure what to do apart from ward or be useless and sap exp.

Also curious as to the best way to deal with the dire offlane as it's a lot harder to play as tree than it is on radiant offlane, as well as the best method to rotate mid due to there not being many trees to root from.

Besides that any other tips would be great, such as warding spots that work well or just different ways to play the hero? Skill builds etc ..

Appreciated :)

Battlefury: when to give up and just go Maelstrom/Mjolnir?

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 07:52 PM PDT

Hey guys, you had some great input on my last thread about getting Maelstrom on Clinkz, so here is another.

The question is: if my lane is extra hard and I'm falling behind on item timings, should I skip Battlefury and just go Maelstrom/Mjolnir? Bonus points for specificity regarding Troll Warlord.

I'm asking because of the following:

- There seems to be a huge popularity of Maelstrom on non-traditional heroes (though why I can't say).

- When BF is difficult to farm, Maelstrom provides early wave-clear for pushing those lanes and keeping your enemy in a reactive state.

- I had a hard lane as Troll Warlord but still blindly went Battlefury. Consequently I was useless to my team until I had it + some other items. I think it could have been alleviated by going the cheaper Maelstrom route.

- Regarding Troll again, upgrading to Mjolnir for the attack speed could provide a stupid amount of bashes. Additionally, his attack speed results in a high amount of lightning procs.

This is assuming I go Treads -> Aquila -> BFury/Mael -> S & Y -> BKB. I'm still learning on when and where to fit in Blink/Shadow Blade.

I saw this match on Dotabuff where the Troll went Mjolnir at a late timing, and it got me thinking: https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/4056884790?guide=3f0e41

This thread is mainly aimed at Troll Warlord, but input for all other heroes is welcome. For reference my bracket is 1.2k so try not to use any big words.

Look forward to hearing everybody's opinions.
