why do people hate on phantom hourglass so much(specifically temple of the ocean king)

Posted: 05 Aug 2018 08:05 AM PDT

as a game, i thought that PH was a good game, or at least not as bad as people seem to believe. everybody has complaints about the ocean king temple obviously, but personally i thought that the temple was actually kind of clever. let me explain... the temple is something done multiple times, and obviously people having to repeat the same thing over and over again is frustrating, but during the first trip through, you can see things that are obviously somthing you can interact with, like the pegs on the floor or eye switches or bombchu holes. later, once you get the items like the grappling hook or the bow, the previously blocked path opens up, and not only do you get to see what they do, those parts usually let you finish that area faster. this kind of things continually happens in the temple of the ocean king, and i do think it is cool. another aspect i like is the fact that i know the puzzles and know what to do. this area is timed, so being able to do it better each time you try is fun. of course, doing the entire thing all at once is daunting, but they do give a warp point about half-way through the dungeon, about st the point where you no longer get any new ways to get to the dungeon faster. this allows for people to essentially jump forward to the more interesting bit of the dungeon. the final part i like about this dungeon is the reward of the phantom sword. this sword lets you wreck the shit out of all of the phantoms in the temple, and just force your way through the dungeon. it is quite fun to kill the guys that gave you so much trouble, but it also gives you a chest for killing all the phantoms in each room. obviously one chest is nice enough, but they trapean everytine you reenter the dungeon, and this place just becomes a place to go through. it's comgorting, because by the end, you know what to do, and can run through it with supreme ease, grabbing items and rushing through as fast as you can. obviously it can be tiresome, but I think it had a lot of good intent, but the core of the dungeon, having to repeat is simply dislikable to a lot of people. as opposed to the game design of the dungeon being bad, it's the concept being dislikable but the designers making it the best they can regardless(Althoguh personally i didn't mind that dungeon concept). obviously this is only one aspect of the phantom hourglass, but this specifically is something people have a lot to say against it, and I didn't think that it was really fair. obviously, if you disagree with me, you are perfectly ok, and inclined to believe what you want.

F4F Majora's Mask & a little custom shelf.

They should make another installment for the hero of time

I would love a sequel to majoras mask to see how the hero of time becomes the hero's shade. I know seeing Link become the hero's shade would be a dark ending but I think it would be awesome and different for the series.

Your idea for a Zelda game!

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 08:15 PM PDT

Hi everyone! I've been playing through Link Between Worlds, and I thought of a cool idea because of it.

Basically, I want to hear your ideas for a Zelda game with some crazy cool mechanic. There are two parts to this!

Firstly, come up with your mechanic. In LBW, it's your ability to Wall Merge and transport yourself between Hyrule and Lorule. In Majora's Mask, you can acquire the transformation masks that allow you to have awesome new abilities! The mechanics should be wacky things like that.

Secondly, based upon that mechanic, I'd love to hear your title for the game. Legend of Zelda: ___________. Link Between Worlds is called such because you go between the worlds. Majora's Mask, because of the masks. And so on!

For instance, maybe your mechanic is that you have to craft and use different magic wands as a core part of the gameplay. Maybe you call it Legend of Zelda: Scepters of Hyrule. Just an example! I look forward to hearing your own ideas!

Which was your first Zelda game? And which succeded it?

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 04:56 PM PDT

Hi! Just posting this to satisfy my curiosity. My first game was Twilight Princess, the next was Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time and then Breath of the Wild. I would have loved to play Wind Waker HD, but I did not buy a Wii U. Twilight Princess will always have a special place in my heart for introducing me to tis awesome franchise! What was the game that drew you the world of Hyrule? Let me know in the comments!

Where do the dungeons go from here?

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 03:56 PM PDT

I personally was disappointed by the dungeons in BOTW (as I know many others were). I don't, however, believe the next title should go backwards and start making the same types of dungeons as there were in previous games. Nor do I think Nintendo would do that, they're big on innovating new things in their games.

So where do the dungeons go from here? Hopefully not a repeat of 4 piddly bland looking dungeons and a smorgasbord of somehow more bland looking one-room puzzles. Any ideas on how the Zelda franchise can improve upon the dungeon design without going backwards?

Do people not like A Link to the Past or A Link Between Worlds?

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 10:21 PM PDT

Usually when I wear Zelda related shirts, people stop and ask me my favorite Zelda game. I usually say that I like ALTTP or ALBW and they give me a weird look (the kind like if you said something weird). I think the games are good. I prefer 2D Zelda games over 3D but I still like 3D like OOT.
