Oh no! A man-hunting pack of meat delivery vessels!

So this guy was from an Escape Pod, pegged his limbs, released. Now he is back from another Escape Pod.

Pawns call it like they see it

My colony after 100 days, never been this far. Any tips?

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 08:08 PM PDT

This might not mean much to you, but I am so proud of this little pawn and I need to tell somebody

Like a second death

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 10:52 AM PDT

One of my starting Tribesman, Beaver, died when a megasloth swiped off his arm in a mad frenzy. Through his passion for learning he had gone to a staggering 19 intellect, and in so doing had lifted his tribe out of obscurity.

He was survived by his wife, Riesling, the tribe's star crafstwoman, who had joined the tribe while fleeing pirates. Or perhaps she was one of the pirates. It was long ago and life is hard on the Rim; you can't afford to hold onto grudges. But she held onto her sadness, and damned but if she didn't keep her husband's killer as the armchair that she worked at ever after.

Having heard of mysterious Outworld potions designed to bring back the dead, Beaver's friends and family kept his body safe in a hidden compartment, frozen for two whole years.

The resurrector serum was in hand, as well as an arcotech arm to replace the one lost during his violent death. The only remaining piece of the puzzle was a healing serum intended to cure him of his doubtless neurological damage brought on by years of slowed but relentless entropy -- and surely also by the confusion he would face at how far the little tribe had come, and how greatly they now prospered.

The serum was being transported by caravan, mere days from home, under heavy guard by warriors armed with weapons once believed to be the forbidden magics of fire gods.

So what finally condemned the remains of Beaver, long remembered, to a permanent resting place in the dust and loam?

Why, one of the double doors to the freezer had been broken somehow some time prior. Perhaps by a frustrated worker, perhaps by a wild animal, or perhaps it was left un-replaced during a scheduled renovation. Whatever the cause, it was enough to raise the temperature in his tomb to occasionally just above freezing, enough to let the rot take hold and kill him a second time, this time for true.

However, the tribe moves on, their resolve and countenances firmly set, for one mourning is all they will allow.

One must be vigilant, for death is ever but a mistake away. Such is as it is on the Rim.

Naked Brutality Year 1

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 10:26 PM PDT

The Thrumbo is obviously popular, but is there any fan art of insects or mechanoids?

A less terrible tale (but still not great)

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 05:53 PM PDT

I decided to try a modded run where I would only keep 1 pawn and have him live as a fisherman isolated from all the other factions on a little peninsula. Using prepare carefully my optimistic ascetic Charles arrived safely at his new home with his dog named cat.

For the next several years Charles and cat lived calm peaceful lives fishing, farming, and selling smokeweed and art to orbital merchants for any supplies they lacked. Things wouldn't last well forever though.

Disaster struck cat died after stalling bugs from an infestation long enough for Charles to escape. The infestation was eventually cleared but now Charles was alone.

I felt to guilty to just replace cat with a new pet but he needed some sort of companion, after all he was getting old, into his sixties if I remember correctly. So I decided the next good doctor who could cook and wasn't insane I would recruit.

Alice arrived like a gift from randy on an escape pod. She had a 8 or 9 in medicine and a 7 in cooking, as an added bonus she had the pretty trait. There was just one problem her left leg had been destroyed in the past somehow. Charles brought her in and cared for her till her health came back. Now unlike Alice Charles had a 2 in medicine and I didn't trust him to o much past putting on glitter world bandaids so I didn't have a good way to get Alice a new leg.

After another couple years Charles and Alice had become close friends and were assembling a ship to leave the planet. As the craft was nearing its completion Alice's daughter showed up followed by raiders. I accepted her and Charles and Alice prepared for battle. During the fight Alice was shot and her heart was damaged. She was immediately rushed into one of the cryptosleep caskets I had for such an emergency.

To top things off Alice's daughter was essentially useless with anything other than art and animals spending her spare time arguing with Charles over trivial matters and generally being terrible. This became too much for me after she decided to set alight a support beam causing a cave in to destroy the last of my plasteel and components and nearly having Alice's cryptosleep casket to be damaged. In the end Charles survived and the ship was still nearly done it was just short one cryptosleep casket.

I said screw it. I set the food out in a shed and set it alight then I trapped Alice's daughter inside the base before shutting off the power. taking Alice out to the ship we loaded aboard and took off leaving the terrible daughter to die alone. Like to think she died alone regretting her actions that nearly doomed her mother as she starved in the dark.

Military aid = destroyed comms console? How do I fix this?

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 01:47 PM PDT

Seems to be the case more often lately. Military aid comes straight through the room, basically wrecks the comms console, and leaving the pawn who called the military aid bleeding 70%/d because the transport pods came down on top of his head.

I think it started happening maybe a couple 1.0 patches ago, a little after the big goodwill rebalancing. I'm completely in favor of making allies more expensive to buy, but is there any way to mitigate the "your warden is now missing his ears" aspect of this?

Lasted 2 minutes

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 10:27 AM PDT

Made a new world this afternoon,

I literally tunnelled 8 spaces into a mountain.

Uncovered a room,

Held 3 sythers and a centipede that killed me instantly!

That's why I love this game everything is just so dam random.

I only had 2 female colonists

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 04:33 AM PDT

I started my game with 2 gay female colonists (Thanks to Prepare Carefully) and for the first 40 days of the game it was good, one was the main builder and could hunt well, the other cooked and mined the stuff I said to mine. well, around the 30th day or so, they finally were lovers and got happy. The hunter had a psychopath trait, so because of this, after a while, they broke up. Because of having that trait, it was only a negative thought of "Ex-lover" so insults were thrown constantly.

this caused the cook, to insult back which made the hunter snap and die

after this, there was a raid of 3 people that destroyed the solar generators and slowly ran out of power

my one survivor wouldnt build, and it was the middle of winter so they were always cold

afterwards, a manhunting pack of boomrats came and mauled her as she was outside

this was day 49

and all this happen because they broke up, and then killed each other.

Is there a way to make a trade caravan work with transport pods ?

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 12:31 AM PDT

i tried aroudn and it i cant get it pulled off.

first it takes like forever to load the goods on the pods and the chosen passangers ignore everythgin else and pass out from hunger and sleep depreviation in the loading process.

and the way back i had planned to bring with me enough components and fuel so set up a quick new base mine some steel and then fling myself back... but i cant seem to be able to build a second base just for the pods.

Min my 53 year old ex pop star, now turned sculpture, makes an excellent large sculpture that shows how self centered she can be. She may be also foretelling the future.

TIL cooler can almost reach absolute freezing and heaters can melt steel, stone and basically anything else

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 03:23 AM PDT

I was curious about the max temperature settings on the cooler so i spammed "J" until i hit -273°C, about Absolute zero, which is -273.15°C. Meaning not only can you preserve food but almost fully stop any molecular movement (I think, i'm not a physicist but)

On the other hand, the heater can reach a maximum of 2000°C, easily combusting wood at a minimum of 300°C, melting limestone and marble at around 800°C, Granite and sandstone at 1250°C and almost slate, which melts at 2000°C

These thing are death traps!

EDIT: So use them in your killbox

Shooting Skill (.19)

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 08:07 AM PDT

Hey everyone!

Had about 140 hours before .19 and now have about 220 lol. Love this game and have been binging the new naked brutality scenario. Quick PSA! Shooting animal sleeping spots/furniture with drafted colonists no longer trains the shooting skill. A bit of a bummer but good nerf in my opinion.

Suggestion: allow us to build a shooting range. Sometimes I don't need more meat from hunting and wish some of my passionate shooters could train it when their work is done!

Giggles the invincible

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 08:03 PM PDT

Gil 'Giggles' Durnin has come to raid my colony many times. She'd escaped every time and returned for revenge of her fallen comrades... or so I thought.

I have confirmed that she has died and yet she has reappeared. However she has chosen the to make more of her life following her reincarnation and is happy to trade with me...

I'm pretty sure I've killed her in raids and she keeps coming back. At least now she's not coming to attack me

(Jurassic RimWorld)Disable dinos in overworld?

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 09:49 PM PDT

I wanted to disable the dinosaurs in the overworld. It would be more realistic and i also don't want my colonists dying because a Carnotarus was hungry...
