PSA - Bots are creating war mode matches for the sole purpose of finding accounts to hijack.

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 05:41 AM PDT

Have you ever joined a war mode match only to wonder why the host is not starting?

That is because those are not hosts, they are bots that catalog all joiner IDs, then use some method to attempt to bruteforce user accounts.

This came to my attention after three of my friends (One of which did not have steam guard) Had several attempted logins on their account, with the only activity they had done being trying to get into a war mode match that didn't start.

Enable Steam 2FA in order to ensure that you are safe.

This post is more of a theory than anything, as there is heavy correlation between joining these matches and accounts being hijacked, however, at this time I have no hard evidence other than anecdotal, this is more of a potential PSA than anything.

This game saved my sister's life

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 01:28 PM PDT

Hi everyone,

I don't play PUBG but I thought I would share this story with you. My sister recently started playing this game with her boyfriend/friends, and to no avail, would die early and often. In light of this, she would try to entertain herself while the rest of her teammates fight.

She was recently prescribed a medication for migraines that is a beta blocker. Now this is fine and dandy, but she was also going in to get allergy shots (to build up immunities) from another doctor. She wasn't told that the medicine she was prescribed was a beta-blocker.

So this is where the PUBG element comes into play, she died really early and decided to read the pamphlet that came with the medicine describing what it was. If she never would have read that, she wouldn't have known and therefore would have just gone in to take the allergy shot.

Beta-blockers stop epinephrine from being used, and likely she would have gone into anaphylactic shock. She would not have been able to be saved by an epi-pen and probably would have just died in the doctors office.

So because my sister sucks at PUBG, she is alive right now.

Guess who's going to Broadcaster Royale Grand Finale in the US to play with the world's best professional players?

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 01:37 PM PDT

It's Juka, the guy who got famous on this subreddit for kicking people from his server whenever they kill him and insulting everyone who speaks against him.

He camped and played shitty throughout the entire qualification stage, but was carried by his friend who's a pro. They failed to qualify to the finals, but the organization gave a second chance to those who failed and opened a poll where you can vote for the broadcaster that you want to see in the finals.

It's beyond me how this guy was given a custom server, let alone a chance to compete in such big tournaments.

PSA: Desync vs Lag/Delay

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 07:49 AM PDT

Firstly i would like to note that this is MY understanding of what those things around. Feel free to correct me.

My reason for this post is merely to educate others i have been myself on the matter.

As many of you know Battle(non)sense released a video talking about the server/client performance of Patch #19.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA43TocEAWs

In this video he also touches on the subject of Desync vs Lag/Delay.

Desync (Desynchronization):

Is when the server and client get a mismatch of information. Going to write some examples:

This one is from the Black Desert Online forum -

Desynchronization (short: Desync) happens when the game client and the server program have different data of the players, thus creating a desynchronization. This happens when, for example, in your screen your character is talking with an npc, but when you perform the action is cancelled because "you are too far away", since the server thinks you are not at the npc.

Another example is some of you may have seen people Swimming instead of running when you play with them in PUBG. This is also Desync. Server and client sending a mismatch of information regarding what animation to be played. Currently i also believe there is desync animation issue regarding people not hold weapons early game and shooting you with their hands down.

Another example: You SITTING crouched behind a tree or some cover stationary not moving but on other clients screen/server you are sitting 4 meters away from that position.

Lag/Delay:

So this is the "issue" at hand. Reason why i say "issue" is because lag is something you cant get rid of. It will always be present and the large majority already know this.

Assuming both clients have 30ms to the server

Client -> Server -> Client

30ms 80ms 30ms = 120ms

You send information, server process the information and then sends that to the other client. (NOTE: I do not know how long it takes for the server to process anything so this is just an example)

So as far as my understanding for what is going on is that the system is a "Tell system" where it says THIS happened and not a "Ask system"

Tell system:

Client - "I just shot this guy on my screen please relay that information to the other player."

Server - "ok will do."

Ask system:

Client - "I just shot at this guy at x,y,z position at time frame 49539. Was he hit?"

Server - "Let me ask, What was your position at time frame 49539? "

Other Client - "At time frame 49539 my position was x,y,z."

And lets say the positions didnt not match so the damage and hit would not register.

So the "fix" would be what some other games do such as Battlefield is to implement Lag compensation. This is what I ASSUME is the "Ask system". This would remove or at least lower that amount of shot behind cover that is happening. Without a system like this the "issue" will be never resolved/dealt with because lag is a thing that will always be present and is normal in video games. Not know how much more strain this would put on the server i would assume if such a system would come in place that it would likely step into effect around 80 players left.

Hopefully my understanding is close to the real thing and if so i hope that some of you also got educated on the matter as i have been over the last few days :)

Alternative for banning - shaming

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 04:52 AM PDT

Hi All,

Just had this idea. How about instead of banning people BH does something to the cheater accounts that they can't do damage. It'll take a while before they find out but who cares and it will look bad on them for a while. They just might stop as they can't win a game anymore. Maybe even give them special clothing no matter what they think they're wearing.

Seems like a fun approach to me :D

Pubg Devs - Please pick a dedicated maintenance schedule

Posted: 13 Aug 2018 05:48 PM PDT

I will admit I missed the earlier tweet. I was flying home from work. Servers went down and then I saw the warning and current one. I get it. We were "warned".

With that said can Pubg Devs please pick a time. Calling this "routine maintenance" laughable. 3 hours? Now it's Monday. Sometimes Tuesday. Sometimes Wednesday. Sometimes it's 9pm EST. Sometimes 10. Sometimes 830.

Pick something. Stick to it.

Also put something into the lobby. Not everyone lives on twitter. Before all the downvotes there was nothing in the lobby this time. There has been before but it's rare.

Add general progression to the game

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 02:52 AM PDT

Greetings,

I love this game but theres one thing that I feel is missing and thats a simple progression system. They made a great progression system for the eventpasses, but I would like to see some sort of general progression thats always available. Not just during some events.

Some people might not care about progression but it sure wont hurt to have it in the game.

Just a profile level tied to some rewards would be fine.

When do I get to play against real people in PUBG mobile?

Posted: 14 Aug 2018 08:29 AM PDT

So i've noticed that my first game was full of bots. Drove to more secluded area, didn't hear any boats or vehicles, yet they kept spawning around me. Quite annoying. I heard that you get more and more real people as you progress? But then again, I even read it's still always lots of bots. So what is the truth? I'm not sure if I want to continue playing if it will be against mostly bots.

Edit: Is it based on rank? Number of games? Do we know cut off points? Or is it all still murky? After one game i'm rank (or level?) 7.
